Yeah it was announced at the same time as the Blackmagic Pocket 4k bay in April 2018. This camera has been quietly begin developed in the background almost. Personally I thinks it's a better execution of what the P4k should have been.

What is the battery life like?

It depends the capacity of your battery. With a 970 it's a few hours, with a 550 maybe 30-45 minutes. (in cold weather)
