Valhalla vintage verb is just so amazing. Its my go-to. It doesnt try to do too much and that makes it great to me.

Valhalla vintage reverb is one of my go to, not always but quite often. I was a big fan of the MIDI Verb II, with all of its flaws, and the Valhalla vintage gives me the closest to that hardware. I still have the hardware, but it’s a pain in the ass in my small studio to use. I also sometimes reach for Waves CLA Epic. There are a few presets in there that I start with and I really like them.

It does, I just upgraded from essentials, cost about $111 to upgrade from essentials. A bargain for a mega 480 emu. I couldn't do without Relab LX480 and Seventh Heaven Pro. The entry-level Seventh Heaven is very good too. I like both of their approaches in offering affordable but very good quality easy to use entry-level versions. More plugin developers should mimic that path. And stop the subscription BS. AVID is the worst, even the Avid Pro Tools Artist, and is crippled at a just not enough 32 audio tracks. Then with NO upgrade path, and have to go with subscription, apart from the odd retailer that has perp licenses ... for now.

I love the fact that you didn't just post WHAT but also WHY and HOW! Priceless.
@incidence.studio3 күн бұрын
love Pro-R2 as well! one tricky thing that is really ESSENTIAL imho is the stereo control BECAUSE it changes the way the reverb is calculated and while putting it in mono, the reverb keeps a lot of details and character while being totally mono. This is really different sonically than making the return channel mono (either with utility plugin or with pan pots).

I recently bought Valhalla Vintage Verb after seeing some demo’s of it. It’s reasonably priced and it’s great to give that mid-80’s production style sound to FM synths. Another reverb that I like is the feedback reverb in multi-effects plugin from Korg’s legacy collection called MDE-X.

I do a lot of small-scale projects with orchestral stuff for local churches and businesses, and I really like that I can place different channels on a virtual stage and have the plugin calculate things. As a hiphop producer, i need good, versatile, natural sounding drum reverbs, and these are just that (Got them together with a bundle for very cheap)

1. Relab LX480 → so many options, dual engine mode, delays. This would be my desert island reverb 100%! 2. Liquidsonics Cinematic Rooms Pro → if you want a clean and real sounding reverb, this is it. 3. Liquidsonics Seventh Heaven Pro → if you want that soft, warm Bricasti sound. It definitely has a sound. 4. Liquidsonics Tai Chi → Imagine Valhalla Vintage Verb on steroids! Super lush sounding reverb with modern twists. 1+4 are lush sounding, 'artificial' reverbs. 2+3 are realistic sounding 'real spaces'. If you picked 1 out of each category, you would have everything you'd ever need. I would pick the Relab 480 and Cinematic Rooms Pro.

I basically agree of your choice! I just add Altiverb or Avid Space
I have quite a few I haven't even tried properly yet, like exponential audio from NI supposedly great and sound kinda great but feels you maybe need to have sort of engineers papers to operate them. The same kinda goes for Neoverb, but I'll have to revisit it some time (when I got time). A lot of people mention Raum, which I kind of always forget I even have (thanks NI for these endless bundle deals). I think even Ableton stock plugins like reverb and hybrid reverb (IR) do a pretty decent job for most tasks, and then seems each VSTi already has their own reverb which work pretty well in their own sandbox , like Vital, Pigments, Kilohearts plugins (Phaseplant) to name a few. I just try them first and if it sounds good (like they do most of the time) then I don't look for anything else for that specific sound. It also seems like pretty much every plugin suite now has their own reverb like Shaperbox etc. so you're kind of spoilt with too many to choose from...

You should definitely check out reverbs made by AuroraDSP - Invisible and Rotten Pool. One is sounding that you don't hear a reverb, but you get more more "space". The other one is dirty and saturated (I use it in metal mixes a lot). I guess you already know which is which ;) Another one I use a lot is Little Plate from Sonarworks. I love it on the snare and even sometimes on the vocals. It's really simple to use and get things done quickly. Thanks for the great video!

2CAudio Aether. The most flexible customizable true stereo reverb, it has lots of presets (extensions) for different purposes, (music and post production) with convenient preset search system and highest sound quality (with 2x and 4x oversampling options). If i had to keep just one reverb plugin, it would be Aether, without a doubt !!! On monitors with large resolutions, its default size is quite small, but it has HD skin options, that make it look very large, but it better than the small default size. It is no longer updated (latest update is v1.6.1 : 04/28/2015) and only in VST2 format, but that doesn't make him any worse. P.S. This is my personal opinion, maybe i'm wrong 🤫 .

Honestly-in today’s world, reverb (if used at all) is one of those things that you only miss when it’s gone! Studio guy since 1975. Back then, they had discovered real plate verb, and it was overused on everything for a long time. Now, folks are either using reverb that can’t be heard (until it’s gone), or they are using only delay for depth. Verbs like Pro R, in the current environment, are overkill. I know you cherish all that control, your end listener will be just as happy with a nice, cheap verb plugin as they are with a complicated one. Why? Because in the end, you as a producer, will make any one of 100 reverbs sound like what you want to hear. Find the “type” you want, and any stock DAW plugin can give you enough quality emulation that you find the “sound” you want, and your listener simply doesn’t know or care.

Sound City Studios is really excellent. The guitar cabs, although there's few of them, are actually really good as well. The only thing I haven't had success with so far is the string section remicing. It just sounds horrible every time. The Ocean Way Studios plugin does much better in that regards. I wish that they will make it native soon so that you can check it out. If you like SCS you will most likely be loving OWS as well! UA has so many great reverbs that are still tied to DSP. Though I personally think it's worth getting a satellite just for them, it would be nice to be able to use them natively as well!

im with you on plugin minimalism in 2025. i just had to wipe all data on my machine, and therefore re-install everything. i looked through all finished projects from 2024, and only re-installed the plugins actually used in those projects. which was like, less than half of what was installed previously. and i still own all the plugins i did not re-install, so in the event I need one, it is no issue. not installing software you already paid for is more difficult than it sounds, ha!
