Bernie is so cool. I just watched an interview Lee Anderton had with Bernie, in Bernie's house. He is such a good guy and his guitar skills are off the chart. One of the old school guys who can plug straight into an amp and get a tone that will destroy most modern players. It's all in the hands, head and heart, and he's got those in spades.
@wayneblanchard979 жыл бұрын
Brütal Löve - Funnily, I just watched that same interview with Bernie. He seems like a tremendous chap, and in this clip he's obviously having fun being on the big stage again. I see him at music trade shows like NAMM but have never approached him. Next time I will.
@HenkBenk889 жыл бұрын
Best interview, watched it like 5 times :-). But the only thing i dont really like is that about plugging straight into an amp and getting a tone. I would never buy an amp if i would not get a good tone plugging straight in without pedals and other extra stuff, who would???
@sixstringlove82429 жыл бұрын
+HenkBenk88 But even Bernie admitted that the technology today is wonderful. He believes that everyone should strive to get a good tone without effects and all that, but it is so easy to get a great tone without having to spend bug $$$$ and that is nice. I don't have a big budget for guitar gear, so that really works for me. And the truth is that no matter what gear you own, if you fiddle with it and get familiar with it, you can sound pretty damn good. I am using just a cheap old Squier Strat with a Peavy Vypyr 30 watt solid state amp, and I can get a very decent tone. Now, that being said, it is nothing as good as a Les Paul into a Marshall JCM800, but for what I got into my rig, it is surprising how good it does actually sound. What are you using?
@HenkBenk889 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but would you buy an amp if you couldn't get a good tone out of it without pedals or similar? I would not!
@HenkBenk889 жыл бұрын
As i said, i really enjoyd that interview, and Bernie is a guitarist i really like, but some of that interview was kind of bogus. For example about his beast guitar "we have low volume, no pedals or nothing, and you can get a scream out of it". You can make an acoustic scream to if you know what your doing
@Gitfiddle7 жыл бұрын
Marsden is such a sweetheart. Got to be one of the nicest guys in an industry full of overblown egos. And such a talent. He's not a flashy shred guy. He cares about the tone and expression from the finger and the instrument. And the chord changes and songs he wrote are seriously some high level musicianship.

The early Bernie Marsden era Snake is the only era I really like to listen to. Something about that early stuff really spoke to me, it had kinda a Thin Lizzy vibe to it at times, maybe like Lizzy meets Purple. Bernie's guitar playing I always found to be incredibly soulful and powerful. His solo on "Come On" to me was a perfect melodic rock guitar solo full of good phrasing and proper vibrato.

Looks like he doesn't agree with you Keith Young
@simonpreston16939 жыл бұрын
Paul Jacklin There's a big difference between singing in the studio & reproducing it live. DC know's he's knocking on a bit now, so like all the best vocalists (of his generation) they adapt. It doesn't always work & I have to agree with Keith Young. In a live situation, DC hasn't really got it anymore. It's not a criticism, just an observation. Having heard what he & Bernie have recorded recently, he has still got it in the controlled atmosphere of the studio.
