A few of us made the trip down to Columbus, Georgia to raft the Chattahoochee River on July 12th-13th. Whitewater Express really put on a show for us on the afternoon trip of the 13th. All of this whitewater rafting carnage was from the afternoon trip. It was the first really high level in a while (9000 cfs), and you can tell the guides were ready to get wild. It was a repeat of the infamous Chattahoochee Rafting Pile Up video right before our eyes. Hats off to Whitewater Express.

Haha, thanks. We didn't even have to do anything this time; just sat there and held the camera while other folks got wild.

Never straight on. Always to the right of the tongue unless you have momentum going straight on. You have to paddle hard before the drop.

Survived it without incident last year at lower flow. Not this year. At a much higher flow, 4 of us (out of 7) were dumped out. It was scary because I was sucked under a couple of times before finally surfacing after 20 seconds. I was tossed around like clothes in a washer during that endless, rough swim. Definitely a Class V that evening!

@@D1_Tactical It was crazy, alright. But rest assured that nobody wearing a PFD has ever drowned there. Maybe you could try the Classic Trip first, when the water level is lower.

I saw not a single person capable to hail the title of whitewater rafter aw excuse me that one raft that had just one paddle in motion hence their raft didnt flip and dump everyone over while being sucked back by the vortex. If all men are paddling at the same time with the full momentum of the current right after they come over that last hump you get to see their raft catch about a foot and a half high air which dont sound like that big of a deal until you put into equation the weight of the raft and about 9 full grown men(1200 lbs. approx. weight) then it becomes a hell of an achievement I mean badass. Im a man that drank about a third of the Hoooch before I earned the title white water rafter. That spot they are at now if a bad drought is going on you can see the two rocks that cause that vortex and it becomes clear why it effects the water that way and you can very easily be drowned right there. I almost did! We called our team "Sky Rafters" good god I miss those days. Those where some good ole times nothing like these days!! The sky rafters cleared that spot the last three years in a row without being dumped because all of us paddled like Jaws was chasing us (statement was my creation because of this spot) and the objective is to spin the raft 180 come over backwards with deep pulling strokes avoid the flip after we make it through we stand up and hit the ole Al Bundy Alpha Male Quarterback stance yeah I know.... stupid but we had good honest fun way before the days of killing and stealing

2:34 Lmfao! Nice guide, showing how to swim through a class IV rapid like that since they were all shortly about to be doing the same swim! I almost don't even wanna know how the guide fell out, and would rather instead imagine that he told them all to stay calm and just dived into the water like a seal Edit: 4:25 Nice... Great line!

Getting stuck in a hydraulic, knowing you're not likely to get out in your raft, must be really exciting -- if not terrifying
