@Lollipop10096 Well it was chequers when i ran the compass we extended the compass and had the downstairs bar, then John aitchison extended next door and had the 2nd bar, can remember the opening night that was when whitley was jumpin 5 out of 7 nights a week. Great Days..i used to love going out in whitley, the cobbler, Sands, churchills, Filthy McNasties i wish i could turn the clock back. I had a house on Victoria terrace so a night out was a short walk or stagger home for me

Good laugh especially mentioning johnny deker, i used to run the compass club at the top of south parade many years ago (now fitzgeralds) johnny deker used to come in regularly his brother issac and jeff were dormen for me for a short while (no pun intended with issac only being 5 foot) at 21 secs you show the old Queens hotel that used to belong to my cousin in the busy years of whiltley Has jhon Aitchison still got the whistling oyster or is that long ago i now live in yorkshire (sad)
