Whitney Bjerken | 4th Level 8 Gymnastics Meet | Phoenix Horseback Riding

Whitney and Sterling are off to Phoenix, Arizona for the Arizona Stingray’s Classic Rock Invitational Gymnastics Meet. Each one of Whitney’s siblings is heading to one of her out of town meets this season…and this time it’s Sterling’s turn. Sterling and Whitney had a lot of fun pretending Sterling was the President of a small country called Sterlstoltzka (a little strange…but funny). We didn’t have much time on this trip, so we headed off in the early morning to Macdonald’s Ranch in the Sonoran Desert for a little horseback riding before Whitney’s gymnastics meet. Everybody had a great time, and nobody stepped in manure.
Whitney had her toughest meet yet. She started out on floor exercise and slipped up a just a little bit. From there it was off to the dreaded vault. Whitney is still not cleared by her coaches to land her yurchenko vault, so she did her old level 7 handspring vault. Unfortunately, she managed to tweak her knee on her first vault. Then it was off to uneven bars, and the worst thing that can happen happened…Whitney realized she forgot to pack her grips! Luckily, Whitney had packed her new pair of grips, which had not been broken in yet. As a result, this was not the end of the world, but it did add a lot of unneeded stress. Bars went off well and Whitney even managed to stick the landing. Finally, it was off to beam. Surprisingly, no extra major drama on beam, although there was one big wobble on one of her leaps, but she landed all the hard stuff cleanly.
