Chorus:
Ever since I met you
You're the only love I've known
And I can't forget you
Though I must face it all alone
All at once, I'm drifting on a lonely sea
Wishing you'd come back to me
And that's all that matters now
All at once, I'm drifting on a lonely sea
Holding on to memories
And it hurts me more than you know
So much more than it shows
All at once

Whitney is and will always be the queen... In terms of power and ability, I think Celine Dion, and maybe "old school" Mariah Carey are the only ones that even come close to comparing. But not quite...

Technically, Mariah is better. And there are or were many, many equals. Take for instance all the famous jazz singers the USA have spawned, and the woman who did a Whitney song at AGT. And maybe singers who don't reach that high note, but produce lower notes that Whitney couldn't.

@Genius Simmer because in revelation John saw a number that no man could number of people from every race and tongue. That's more than 144,000. The 144,000 is in reference to the 12 tribes of Israel being sealed to proclaim the gospel during the tribulation. 12,000 from each tribe.

I often think of songs as bookmarks in the chapters of our lives....this bookmark brings me back to Vancouver, B.C. I had just moved there with my Mother and Sister and reunited with two Aunts and several cousins. @@Josephinasava2457 Whitney sold 170- 200 million albums worldwide. Just cked it out. She died young at 48. Just imagine how many more albums she would of sold if she did not die so young. Karen died at 32, way to young in 83. She was very good with her brother. I think overall female black voices are better then white female voices. It's that church up bringing were they start super young singing and they master it as they get older.

When I was 8 years old in 1986 when I first Whitney belting out "Greatest Love of All" and this album, she became a hero to me with her voice that year. I had this pink radio with a tape cassette deck and microphone, and I would sing along to Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson tracks mostly. I actually the first two Whitney Albums, on tape. Singer, not musician. Sorry if that's the "unpopular opinion", but out of over 100 recorded songs, she wrote or cowrote only 10.
@saltwatercb
@saltwatercb 3 жыл бұрын
@@fromthehaven94 I agree with you; she is more accurately described as a singer (one of the best ever, of course). Her songwriting was extremely limited, as you pointed out--credits on only ten songs and nine of the ten involved anywhere from three to nine (!) writers. The only song she ever co-wrote with just one other person was "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" with Diane Warren. Houston has zero credits as a sole writer of any song. The term musician to me is more accurately reserved for someone who can compose/write music and/or plays instruments (not just add a lyrical phrase or two, as seems to be the case with Houston). You've got folks like Stevie Wonder and Prince and Kate Bush who are savants--can literally write all the songs on an album, sing them all and play every single instrument if they care to. And as much as people never want to give Madonna credit for musical artistry, she is certainly a true musician--she writes or co-writes 95+% of her music, sings it all, plays acoustic guitar (and in her early days, percussion). And she was like this from the start; her first top five hit--the indelible "Lucky Star"--she has sole songwriting credit for it. Lastly, I'd like to mention that when I saw Dolly Parton at the Hollywood Bowl four years ago she not only sang brilliantly and charmed the heck out of the audience with her great stories and fine sense of humor, she also played the acoustic guitar, the recorder, the fiddle, the piano, the banjo and...the saxophone (!) which was nearly half her size. The entire show was astonishing. Cheers! Christopher B.

I feel the hurt of what she went through her childhood and her adulthood. She like a old soul of what I see her interviews since she was younger back then because she old fashioned who wear comfortable clothes like * jean pants, t-shirt, suits, like my grandma was old fashioned. It really hurt my heart right now because I am not happy when they judge down on people who went through their life struggles. Makes me sadden and so upset at the same time because they’re careless about something else is business and greedy than sorry for others. I feel really sorry for Whitney because she just a beautiful inside and out in person and a sweetheart. The Bible tell you about judging, at James 4:12 reads : “There is only one who is Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and to destroy. But you, who are you to be judging your neighbor?,” it’s not good to to judge other’s of what they went through behind doors because humans are imperfect like us. ... It breaks my heart hear it when Whitney was singing this beautiful song ‘All At Once’ that reminds of her, how it describe. ... The Bible will tell what will happen in the future of how God will destroy the wicked ones and will get rid of the sufferings on earth, at Psalm 37:8-11 reads : “Let go of anger and abandon rage; Do not become upset and turn to doing evil, For evil men will be done away with, But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek (righteous ones) will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” The Bible is telling you to love your neighbor and that he will love and care for you, at John 13:34 reads : “ I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also love one another.” Or at Matthew 22:39 reads : ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ because we have to pray for those that went through their problems and who needed help from God and secondly, to forgive others but you never forget of what they did to you in the past.
