I wonder what Simon would say about Dimash from Kazakhstan. Dude goes from low baritone to contralto tenor in the same breath. He has a 6 octave range and the highest note he has hit is a G8... 4 tones higher than the end of an 88 key piano. This song is so beautiful. There will never be another Whitney. She turned the industry on it's head when she made her debut in the 80's. We had never heard anybody like her. Sort of like when we 1st heard Eddie Van Halen on guitar. One of a kind.

Y'all just need to go take a couple hours and watch the movie The Bodyguard so you can get the story line mixed with her glorious songs. You'll love it! Whitney's songs are the soundtrack for the movie. One of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time, with some of her biggest hits ever. Aside from The Bodyguard soundtrack, check out her singing One Moment in Time (there's a great video from her performance at the '89 Grammys). Also... when she sang the Star Spangled Banner at the '91 Super Bowl. It's amazing. The pure joy on her face when she sang... was electrifying.

They don’t call her the VOICE for nothing- I first hear Whitney in 1985 and have been hooked on that voice ever since- I’ve been lucky to hear her sing live at a few concerts at the beginning of her career, when she was at the very height of her vocal power - it was truly unreal and felt like her voice was touching my soul - I’m so blessed to have experience that - listen to One moment in time - live at the Grammys - absolute power!!!! ❤️

The Bodyguard came out when I was in school. Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan were my intro to powerful singers. Then I went back to the 60s and 70s and discovered Ella Fitzgerald and Arerha Franklin.
