Most people have a voice. Some people have an excellent voice. Whitney had a divine INSTRUMENT. When she opened her mouth to sing, magic happened and she was able to channel something down from the realm of the divine to all us humans on this earthly existence. Her voice was truly a brige between heaven and earth. Sadly this gift did not make her immune to all the pain and pitfalls of human existence, but she certainly enriched the world for being here. I know we are all here for a limited time only but man, I really, really miss this lady! RIP Nippy. 💔

@@skip031890 B's Whitney vocal cords was perfectly fine her vocal coach said this after she passed and before plus the autopsy showed that she had heart condition she just needed to leave the industry stop smoking and drinking and practice she lost her breath control at the end of her career but had she took the advice against Clive Davis wishes she would've been back to 95% of her vocal ability she just lost 5% due to age and heart disease plus cigarettes etc. Whitney still could run circles around people even after her last performance she still was able to reach high notes and low register head voice etc etc.

I like to say that Whitney’s prime was 86-95 as a powerful pristine spinto soprano and it entered a second prime from 98-00 with a soulful energetic mezzo soprano. Almost like the first prime was her vocal prime but the second was her artistic prime

There are sooooo many others they could have chosen!

SEFYH Right. what other great performance by her, would have you included in, lets say, Whitney Live album Vol. 2? I would have also included the performance of "God Bless America" Live from the wrestle match somewhere in the year 2000, i believe. I think it was really touching and powerful. She also had a very good "vocal" day in that performance.
@SEFYH
@SEFYH 9 жыл бұрын
Uriya O Wow! You really are a true fan of Whitney! I remember that performance. Great choice! - I would have included the first two songs in her medley from the Arista 25th anniversary performance..."I wanna dance with somebody and How would I know." That too was from the year 2000. Hey, maybe you and I should take over the "Whitney Live Vol 2" project! LOL

@@hansevers8605 it’s crazy to me because when I click on videos of young girls and women around the world who don’t even speak English most of them are singing her songs. In the wheelhouse of pop and r&b around the world she is the standard, and her competition came from record labels trying to find someone to knock her off her throne as the voice. A singer’s singer knows that voice!!! When this woman hit the scene in about 85’ she was unstoppable in her prime, and the world knew it. When we listen to women around the world do these vocal acrobatics we know that it is the influence of the r&b music that influenced what we are hearing today whether people want to admit it or not. Whitney lead the pack and she is and will always be the bar that everyone is trying to reach!!

This woman had an undeniable gift that God only gives to a small few. Hearing her sing, as she did here, makes that simply undeniable. Of course, there will be some who will focus on the downfalls Whitney suffered during her life. The ones we all suffer, but have the comfort of not having televised the world-over. Some have to do what they can to be feel better than someone, but none of them will touch millions with a voice like this! Amazing Whitney!

Whitney was/is the truth vocally, I still have not heard any other celebrity female singer that utilizes just about every vocal technique like Whitney. She had that type of voice that was versatile that could sing any type of genres of different music and no matter how many times Whitney sung the same song she always manage to sing it in many different ways, for instance, "I Will Always Love You."She had great runs/riffs, breath control, diction, vibrato, and a great coloratura to her voice!

Whitney's vocal ability and range and clarity were impeccable and immeasurable in this performance. Her timbre, tone, pitch, head voice and volume sounded like that of a Cathedral pipe organ!

Its just remarkable that with all she was going thru at the time she gave one of her best live vocal performances of the late nineties. She almost sounds as she did in the late eighties! What a voice!!!!

Andre Byrd Yes they are. And in my opinion Whitney could sing the phone book and it would've been beautiful. She's the better singer between her and Ella. Ella had a beautiful voice though. That's why she is mentioned.

+MagnusMG1 People on here are always trying to argue... Ms Fitzgerald was a pop/ jazz/American Standards singer. Whitney was a pop/ r&b singer standards singer. Jazz which we know was the precursor to r&b... they were both widely accepted in the cross over field early in their careers. Chalk & cheese.... man please.

I was there ... for the concert and it was right before the World Trade Centers came down. I remember my sister burst into tears when she saw Michael ... and oh I loved him since I was 5 but it was when she hit that first note that I bawled my eyes out. She was perfect as perfect as I had ever imagined ... I was magic. I am so thankful I got to hear her live just once before she left this earth. I sing and ever since I first heard her my goal was to sound half that good. There is no other ...

THis is what made her a GENIUS, the abilty to interpret a song. She infuses her own style of gospel and flair into this song, while still keeping the proper pace, melody, and meaning all the while creating notes in a song that weren't their previously. Total Genius. I also love the proper use of mellisma
