Such respect for living life how you want. I am 36 and want to say to never stop doing that. I went to medical school $500k into debt to become a doctor. At 25-30 I wanted to start trying to have kids. My actual biggest dream in life. I’ve spent my life making others happy, living for them and being a people pleaser. I listened to everyone that told me I didn’t need or want kids, now wasn’t the time, I was going to be a doctor etc etc etc. Here I am after finally becoming a doctor- and had to give up residency to do IVF. Have had 2 mirscarriages w natural pregnancies and now and doing IVF alone bc my fertility numbers are so bad, I’m expected to have menopause around 38. Don’t have time to wait for a partner. I possibly gave up the one thing I wanted in life. The IVF schedule requires so much that I was not able to take time off in residency, so I gave up my entire dream of training once becoming a doctor. I had 7 eggs retrieved but had to make a go fund me to try to raise $21k to finish IVF before it’s too late. I only have $700 towards it. My point in all of this is that you only get one life. It’s not a dress rehearsal. I could 💀myself for listening to everyone when I could’ve had a baby at 25. Now I’m old w lots of fertility problems. I’ve watched you since you were maybe 8 w coach Ron- fell off of KZbin for a number of years- and the algorithm brought me back for the end of your last season! So proud that at your age you’ve made this difficult decision despite feeling like you’ve disappointed others. You are the only person you’ll have to wake up with and go to bed with every single day of your life. As an adult now, you alone are responsible for your happiness. At the end of our lives I heard we should want 2 people to be happy: the 8 year old version of ourselves, and the 80 year old version of ourselves. You said in your “quitting” video that you don’t want to waste time. It always seems like we have forever. I always imagined I’d have until 42ish to have kids. Here I am this year and on this Mother’s Day, the only thing that kept me on this earth is my puppy. Sorry this is so long. I just wanted to let you know how truly important your insight is, despite the difficult decision. I still had people throwing me away, telling me I was wrong for getting pregnant the first time I did. It was not the best situation, as I had quit trying between 34-35 years old & ended a relationship. But I was happy even if I’d have a baby alone. People still hate on my choice to do it alone, so the right decisions FOR US are sometimes the most difficult, feeling like we let others’ expectations, or our old expectations, down. Good luck!
