It was obvious, and Timmy called it in the last Epi, that Lauren was OVER the conflict and ready to be done with The Show. She was no longer going to battle Audrina on anything. So, I think the rumor about her and JB was a desperate attempt by a producer to get some drama going. Lauren had checked out and we all know the Speidi storyline was lame-o. And Audrina was so insecure with her relationship with JB (rightfully so!) that she, for a moment, believed it. Very dumb. But mostly very sad.

I read that Audrina confirmed that a producer started the rumor with one of Audrina's friends due to lower ratings than season 2. Unfortunately, the friend who decided to start the rumor has since died. :( Either way, how awful and sad for all involved.

I remember Audrina going on "Ellen" about this ridiculous rumor. Trying to discredit Lauren and so on. Her agent at the time, who was in the scene at Winston's, was apparently a part of making up this lie. I think they were trying to make Lauren look bad or something, and it back-fired. But Lauren forgave her... but then decided to have nothing to do with her after leaving the show- I thought because she found out about a lot of sneaky things that Audrina was doing. Interesting times...

Sometimes I feel like Lauren can be harsh but this wasn’t one of those times. Her reaction was 100% warranted and there wasn’t any guilt in her anger IMO. Anyone would probably calmly laugh off the accusation the first time BUT if they keep being pressed about it, they’re going to be upset. It is sad to see how insecure and confused Audrina is in this episode. Doesn’t help that Justin was a master manipulator and their entire relationship lacked trust… plus whatever the producers were pushing… ouch

Today they both claim their relationship was fake? They were friends but that was it. To add, the editing and producing on The Hills has some bad moments. Especially with Audrina? She's always left in a dramatic pause as if she has no clue what to say or how to even understand what to say? In the ads for The Hills Reboot, an older Audrina seems much more clear headed and has a brain. So? I think MTV made her look like an idiot, I don't think that is really how she was or is. In the beginning of the episode Audrina said that she called and asked Lauren and Lauren said she would never do that. But then she called other people asking about it...then she showed up at Lauren's house and asked her...then she asked her again at Winstons. Not the ones LC clearly tells LO about at the beginning of the episode where Audrina called to yell at her and call her a slut. JB said she said really bad things to him too and can't do that, then Audrina ADMITS she eventually messaged back calmer. So Audrina did not just simply ask and they reacted badly, it was the other way around. Are we all watching the same episode and realise not everything happens with a camera there?

Audrina was the one who did, in fact, "do this". The rumor only became an issue after she began calling and texting people about what Dino (of 2 years) told her. This entire storyline became a storyline because Audrina ran with what she was told, despite LC and JB saying no from the first inquiry. I do think she genuinely believed it though, a rollercoaster relationship like hers and Justin's will mess with ya! I also think this the point where Lauren knew that the show was taking a turn and becoming heavily produced/manufactured, and decided to leave 6 months later.

However, while I don't have the same issue with men, I do have the same issues with letting go of other things in my life that don't serve me. That's where life, experience and growth come in. And I show the same compassion to those friends of mine that I want them to show me for my own personal issues. That doesn't mean mollycoddling them, but it does mean giving them grace to grow ESPECIALLY during our early years. I remember this storyline when the show aired and feeling exactly how I feel about it then as I do now. I agree with Whitney, that pieces of conversations were edited out to make Lauren and JB look more guilty. That said, Lauren’s (and JB’s) immediate reaction of anger/frustration was entirely warranted and appropriate. It’s such a ludicrous accusation, and yet other cast members (Audrina and her friends, Stephanie, etc.) are playing it up for the sake of the show, that I’m sure Lauren felt like she was being accused of being an axe murderer…like it’s just so insane and the people around you are actually giving it gravity, that I do not blame her in the least for being incredibly over it.

It’s probably because they are friends with her in real life. Not saying that’s an excuse but sometimes I feel like Timmy and Whitney are not consistent about being up front and letting us know if they’re comments are based off of real life friendships or just as a viewer. Still enjoy their reactions though. Side note: They are friends with Heidi in real life but like they always say, they know Heidi and spencer’s story line is 100% scripted so it’s easier to say shady remarks vs against Audrina because I feel like even though the situations around audrina are fake, audrina was probably blindsided by them so her reactions are real. It’s obvious a lot happened off camera as well so by the time Lauren and Justin were being grilled over and over by Audrina they had enough. Audrina didn’t just ask them once she constantly brought it up and when given the answer no she would continue to ask... there’s nothing more Lauren and Justin could do. It’s sad because this is what killed Lauren and Audrina’a friendship. Audrina came out on her website doing a Q&A I think back in 2012 or 13 and said it wasn’t a rumour and that they did really hook up (which is complete BS) I think she chose to believe this Deano because of Justin’s past and was being egged on by Heidi and Spencer. I think the three of them tried to form a pact because at this point they were making nearly 100k an episode and couldn’t get kicked off if Lauren didn’t get along with them anymore. Love Tim and Whit to death but it just irked me seeing them defend Audrina’s bad behaviour and try and justify her actions. She was wrong for this and should be held accountable.

Audrina was not trying to spread “rumors” she was upset and believed it to be true, IMO she can’t be compared to Heidi. Heidi spread her rumors on purpose out of spite and to be popular. Audrina was fragile about her and Justin’s relationship. Now that’s not on Lauren, but I don’t believe Audrina did it to be spiteful. She was trying to get to the bottom of things and the reactions she was getting in her eyes was hiding something. I think Lauren is definitely justified in being angry and defensive because she already said no and Audrina keeps pressing the issue because she’s insecure. Shes also listened to Audrina vent about Justin Bobby on top of everything and then she continues to go back to him when he is toxic and not good for her. I’d be pissed too if I were Lauren.

I think Lauren handled that soooo well. Personally if she was going around spreading rumors, that conversation would not have been so calm. Also, Audrina is just so incredibly insecure, it's sad.

If someone told me my best friend had hooked up with the guy I was seeing, I’d laugh about it. Obv her friendship with Lauren wasn’t real which is why she was so quick to believe the rumour.

There is an interview with Audrina where she said that the mutual friend was paid by producers to create this rumor. Audrina knew in her heart that Lauren wouldn't do that to her, but I think she fully believed Justin would because of his past. She takes a lot of her anger out on Lauren, which is hard to watch :/

I can’t understand how you guys think Lauren actually possibly hookup with Justin? It was clear back in the day that never happened. The scene of Lauren and Audrina in the kitchen was completely chopped up. I do believe Lauren told her in the kitchen that she didn’t, but they cut that part out to keep us until the end of the episode. Because how else would they have the blowup at the club later?

I agree with most of the comments about Lauren acting the way she did. Audrina was supposed to be her best friend. I can understand her not believing Justin but she should have taken Lauren’s word for it. She had no reason to not trust Lauren. When Lauren says to Audrina ‘you’re worse than Heidi, you DID this!’ I can totally understand where Lauren is coming from. Heidi didn’t spread the rumours about her, that was all Spencer so Heidi was guilty by association whereas Audrina was just guilty. She really did do this to Lauren. Sorry Tim and Whit, you was a little off with this one 🥴

Wow. This episode was intense. I had completely forgotten about this storyline. Even though I find this very unbelievable and crazy, I can understand why Audrina was feeling this way, especially when Justin had been nothing but untrustworthy and he basically “ghosted” her on and off for years. That being said, I agree with Lauren’s anger and disappointment, knowing Audrina decided to believe a pretty insane rumor instead of believing her. We know their friendship was quickly falling apart, but still, Audrina’s accusations were pretty harsh and public (Ellen Degeneres show). All of the drama in this epic felt very real, at least very genuine in their reactions and emotions.

Audrina was ridiculous from the beginning. Always going back and forth and being treated like trash and then still being nice to trash but turning on her so called best friend who always said Justin was TRASH. Hilarious and ridiculous. It's sad when people put themselves in toxicity and then don't even realize how toxic they become themselves.

I remember watching this episode and feeling exhausted for Lauren, because the reaching for drama had gone to desperate levels. I was bored with the show at that point. Same thing with this current season of The Hills New Beginnings. They all need to let go of the show and move on to other things. They’re all in their mid-late 30’s, and too old for this same kind of show.
