Before Arnel joined Journey, he was with a band called the Zoo Band. He was a vocal chameleon during those days. He can sound like any rock star. If Led Zeppelin needed a front man, he could fill it. Survivor, Cheap Trick, you name it, he could’ve been their lead singer (Journey just beat everyone to the punch). Type “Arnel Pineda Zoo Band” on KZbin and prepare to be amazed at his versatility.

steve augeri had throat problems and had to have surgery, was briefly replaced by jeff scott soto and eventually replaced by arnel. btw arnel is david lee roth on steroids....some fans call him "air" nel pineda because of his propensity to jump from the drum riser to the stage and do crazy antics while in the air. as some of the commenters here mentioned, this was an impromptu performance. both were there to promote their concert and the performance happened when fans requested it. as you can see, they were looking at lyrics on their cell phones as they didn't have time to rehearse.

@@WhitneyReacts Ok a bit of history here.....when Steve perry severed from this rock band they scoured the world for Steve replacement as lead vocalist looking for somebody who sounds closest to steve's voice which was difficult to do because Steve has this rare high tenor voice and also has a solid alto (a voice type usually designated for females)...until they bumped into arnel....he was discovered by Neal schon on KZbin. ....journey's guitarist also vocalist......Arnel can't believe when journey emailed him for the offer so they all flew to the Philippines to personally meet with arnel.....and the band that is aging went back to their former luster...it first had been a difficult time for the band to please america with their choice of replacement for Steve who has a huge fan base... arnel being a short Asian and so far arnel is with the band for a good decade performing on a gruesome world tour....like give or take 70 concerts in a year......thats how great the band was enliven.....so you can imagine how great arnel's voice is...not bad for a former drunk and drug user.

@@mario4301 they had another lead singer between Perry and Arnel named Steve Augeri who was working at a Department Store and was in a Journey cover band. He sounded a lot like Perry too (and kind of looks like him, they called him “Steve Perry with a perm”) I’m not sure why Augeri left the band, Perry was hiking and felt a pain in his hip and the surgery would take him out of commission for months and they had a tour they were planning on. Personally I think Journey and Perry were both at their best when they were together. No disrespect to Augeri or Arnel cause both are extremely talented.

Just looked it up, Augeri left due to vocal problems. So when I saw them in late 2004 that was one of their last tours with him as the lead singer.

@@WhitneyReacts I didn't know about augeri but there's 2 or 3 journey lead singers before Steve I don't remember their names...I'll Google it......no problem with augeri and arnel that you recognize Steve to be perfect for the band and rightly so....I believe Steve is irreplaceable but the band don't want it quits so they took risk and it paid off with arnel.....maybe I can describe their band a living dead lol....but that's how I feel without Steve. ..he's a legend especially during their heydays....sadly but the band at best went on with their life and made me happy they came back.....arnel is a huge fan of Steve that he said anytime Steve wants to be back he will step down....and one of his greatest moments was meeting with Steve and getting a hug from him.

I just got back into filming this past week.
