I'm not a vet, and I don't have birds but I do have cats and dogs. Jim needs to be swaddled. You need a 2nd person to hold him in a swaddle / blanket so that you can wrap his leg up without him flapping at you. You have the right idea though. But a 2nd person to hold while you wrap.

You could make a suspension sling to keep his feet off the ground with an old t-shirt. I used that for chicken splay legs. You suspend him up off the ground like a toddler in a jump chair and then brace his legs in proper position. Make sure you put food and water up high enough for him to eat. If you look up "chicken sling" you will get the picture. Hope this helps brother.

Lol Mumbles inspecting in the background 😊 Something I've seen for legs turning out, is to use a popsicle stick or tongue depressor and coban wrap to hobble below the knee joint. You may have to put him in a kennel, so he quits jumping around for a while.

Try putting something elastic in the middle of the insulation for Jims splint. You can wrap the ends of the elastic around his legs then tape that in place. The tape should stick to the elastic.

I wonder if you could still do your idea leg splint idea but attached to a full harness around his body (under his wings of course lol). kinda like how you have the wrap around khaki but then attach the leg thing to it. How do those ducks not go away .. like run off somewhere. how do they just stick around like that? Is it naturally because they think you are the parent?

I love how they all stand and watch you work... you can almost hear them say "are you done yet dad?" Im so glad you used the pipe insulation foam! Hopefully when you tape it you can get his knee turned back in instead of out to the side, that should help. You may need your dad to hold him while you tape him up

With hen chickens, thin rubber bands are used to straighten their legs on the very first day. So maybe you can try bigger rubber bands with Jim? Also, I have weak feet, once an ankle was ruined pretty good. Couldn't do everything in the yoga studio, however in some sitting position, which is easier to do, a jumped out tendon simply glided back to the other side of the big ankle bone. The idea behind is that maybe you can try to massage the bird's foot with horse balm or something similar, with soothing/cooling effect. I also have human horse balm, cheap and very good for muscle issues etc. Hope it helps

I treat humans but you could try some ridget straping tape( its a sport injury tape) you have to stablize the joint. If its the knee you tape underneath and around the joint in a chriscross way. Use the femer to stable and support.Wrap around. Make it tight but do not cut of circulation They will be very small strips. Unfortunately there are no chrutches for turkeys, he needs to rest it. Maybe a smaller space? Massage around the area and compensating areas,especially his other leg. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Try cardboard with a tarp on top of it the cardboard will reflect the heat from the ducks back at them and will be in a lot more forgiving when they walk on it. Could you make them a house with roof and door put sand and straw or saw dust for bedding and keep it room temp with a window up on the roof. So the sun can come in . It’s awesome what your doing an know you don’t want to spend any money but that’s the price we pay for having animals and keeping them feed , water, clean their pen’s . I’m hopefully grateful for your videos hope people do the same with their animals and caring. Have you ever tried wrapping a splint around the leg with black electric insulated tape and keep him contained in a cage until his leg heals? Give him antibiotics liquid in his water or shot.

You can try to mist her with a spray bottle. It will usually get them to instinctively clean themselves. She may not do so well on her opposite side of her bad eye since she can't see how dirty it is. Again, a damp cloth will both wet and may clean her a bit. She's doing great otherwise it seems!

Make him a wheel chair. It will keep him off the leg and you should be able to tape it properly.

Maybe using splints such a straight sticks wrapped in vet wrap to straighten his leg and stabilize it first and see how much that helps, if at all. Maybe try that noodle lower, at his knees. I find vet wrap much better than tape, it sticks to itself and you can reinforce that with tape. People use it too so any place that sells band aids and such will have it. Unfortunately, it's probably trial and error. You can look it up online but I haven't been too successful with that.

I’m not surprised that poor Jim is loosing weight. I have a severe chronic pain condition & I don’t want to eat when I’m in pain*. Maybe if you could order him some bird pain meds online, it would help him want to eat * However my medication gives me the munchies so I have the opposite problem 😂
