Lovely quality video full of nostalga. My father used to drive a traction engine in his 20's as his job. He and his 'gang' dredged and made Blatherwyke lake just off the Coby-Stamford road.

Very good shots and sounds of the steamy things - love the rhythmic sounds and shots of the traction engines generating the juice - hook a few of those up to a transformer to step up the voltage for transmission and that would sole the country's generation shortage! I could see a District Line cut n cover 'tube' stock car from my era when I used to live in London lurking in the background on a couple of your shots

Thanks Chris. I do like those showmans engines with all the lights and shining brass etc. Strumpshaw sounds really good - if you could remind me nearer the time I'll have to keep a day free to come over and see that :)

Thanks Keith. I like anything thats steam driven so it were nice to get some shots of some lovely restored traction engines. Thats sounds interesting - must have been a hard and long job. Would be great to see a traction engine used on a heavy task like they used to be.

Super video Hayden. Very nice shots of Princess Royal running. Hopefully if you can make it up here for the Strumpshaw Rally you'll see her powering the fairground.

Thanks. I live in Northamptonshire, so I'm not a local to the area, but I am planning to go Strumpshaw next year as I have been told it's excellent.

Thats funny you should say that - I have wanted to go there for quite a few years and have never managed to go. Seeing all those showmans engines powering the old fairground rides at night must be really fantastic to see first hand - thats what I'd really like to see.

Thanks Ian. That would certainly solve the problem!! I thought that carriage behind the steamer was an ex London District Line carriage - wasnt too sure at the time.
