The unhyphenated journalism hates Modi but can't spell it for fear of losing viewership. Modi had indicated his intention to continue as long as possible. You want to why eased out Advani etc. Which politician wants bone in the neck when he can simply throw it away. Name any other person in the history who nurtures a rival in his own team? The answer is rather simple. Modi is contesting the election as a prime ministerial face. If public elects "him" for a third term, he is only answerable to the public. The term is of "five years" . He cannot and should not quit, midway due to any internal party norm or regulation. It is a five year commitment from his side as well. If the opposition comes in power, nobody has any such commitment to the public as there is no prime ministerial face.
