October 9th to 12th is National Faith and Blue Week.
We have 25 volunteer chaplains in the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. They help us build bridges to better engage with the people we serve. Chaplains are uniquely positioned in our communities to advocate mutual trust and respect between the public and law enforcement. They help us organize food drives, neighborhood cleanups and provide counseling services during traumatic incidents. Chaplains are also critical in coordinating culturally sensitive approaches to our diverse communities for a cooperative investigation process. Through Chaplains, we can find ways to work together around our many commonalities instead of being divided by our differences.
