What you witnessed here my friend is what the k-pop industry was never able to reproduce. They are the blueprint, the standard for what every k-pop girl group should be. Raw live vocals in every single performance, no loud backtrack, balanced choreographies, and stage presence at it's finest. This group is the best performing k-pop girl group in history. Even if they are in their 40s (except for Minzy and CL) their presence still shakes the room. 2ne1 manages to capture the audience in a way no other k-pop group can. Minzy and CL especially, they are monster performers.

They are my ult group of all time, boy or girl. This was a music festival with a ton of the top idols performing, usually from current KPOP. 2NE1 is a group from 2009 that had an untimely disbandment. After nearly 10 yrs away, they came back this year and pretty much dominated KPOP again. This stage proved why they're the Phoenixes of KPOP. Note that audience members are not there for the same group, yet everyone was singing along to them. That's the power this group holds. Every girl group you see now that comes out with an edgier and hiphop style have 2NE1 to thank cause they were the revolution for what's now considered "girl crush". A 2NE1 marathon (including solos) is an absolutely must. Plus their live performances cause that's where they shine the best.

To impress upon you how amazing this performance is, this is from the end of year music show by MBC, one of the K broadcast stations. They have all the hot new groups here to perform, this isn't just a concert or small scale music show. Those you heard singing along where there to support other groups as well, but because of the huge impact 2NE1 had on the music industry, their songs are well known and sung along by so many! This is even more amazing, because they just came back recently as a group and have been putting on concerts after years of pursuing solo ventures, and yet here they are, just killing the stage, oozing charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent like they've never been gone. Vocals are amazing and live, and they are just one of those groups that younger idols look up to, they are idols of idols. 2NE1 are queens and goddesses, they are the blueprint, they are the ones who paved the way for new generations of girl groups. They are also my ultimate girl group, so yes I am biased. Like others have said, they faced an untimely disbandment that hurt many of us for years! I still can't listen to goodbye without sobbing (it was their last song as a group before disbandment). Please look into their music, some of it is definitely dated, but it's still so good! I recommend watching the mv's for Fire, I am the best, Come back home, I love you, Missing you, Falling in Love, Lonely, can't nobody, and Go away. Please look into live stages too, one of my favorites is If I were you from Yoo Hee Yeols sketchbook. This performance always gets me in my feels. I love them so much and they are still on constant replay for me. Their solos are pretty awesome, You and I by Bom, along with We belong together by big bang feat bom, spring always get me. CL's solos are just amazing and I highly recommend Hello Bi+ches for a performance, and her whole Alpha album. Have fun exploring! btw, the first song was Fire, their debut song. It's fun and catchy, but you can definitely hear the age in it!

They have the most diverse range of music (Teddy really experimented with their sound LOL) and every song they released for promotion had all kill (topping all korean music charts) effect. They are considered idol of idols as many of the 3rd to 5th gen kpop girl groups look up to them. YG is famous for demanding good live performance from their artists. 2NE1 and BIGBANG were the first groups to tour with live bands. Just a couple rappers that looked up to CL as the standard for charisma and rap style that you may know are Lisa from BP and XG's cocona. They were forced to disband because of the public's criticism over Park Bom using ADHD meds obtained in the US which are illegal in korea. Public opinion changed once they understood her health conditions. They were currently allowed to reunite for a reunion tour just a few months ago. just so you know When the girls debut it was very different type of world.. People expected them to fail but did not. Dara and Bom were considered really old at the time of their debut was Minzy literally a kid and CL was considered edgy and not your typical pretty bubble gum pop k-pop idol. They broke every record and possible barrier they faced. Unfortunately The Music overlords of the US did not Like Girl Groups this is pretty evident as girl band like 2ne1 and Little Mix from the UK were not given their due in terms of acknowledging their success and impact.

2 of the members are currently in their 40s and are still singing and dancing fantastically and all of them are considered veterans of the industry! Most of their discography are hits and they have dabbled in a pretty wide range of styles, from hip hop to reggae to ballads, I personally prefer watching their live performances (inkigayo ones) as to their MVs as it allows their personalities to shine more. (but I AM THE BEST MV is a blast). It was interesting that you had highlighted that the tracks sound like from their an older era (never occurred to me cos I kinda stopped listening to new Kpop after they got disbanded :'( ) but yes, as a 90s kid their songs hit home for me... They were even supposed to release a US album in collaboration with Will I am but for unknown reasons many of their tracks had not been released to the public.
