This passage of scripture says literally "the kingdom of heaven is like unto ten virgins"... no interpretation needed. The virgins are people on their way to heaven. The point of the parable is that the bridegroom TARRIED. The wise had both lamps AND VESSELS OF OIL. They were prepared for a delayed coming. The unwise only had lamps but no oil... and their lamps went out. The unwise went off somewhere buying a quick fix, they were no longer on the right path when the groom FINALLY arrived. The groom came at midnight but wise were still there with their lights shining in a dark world.

Interesting how you see yourself as all-knowing and righteous and call other Christians who sincerely fellowship with the Lord but do not share your point of interpretation demonic. I don't think that is Christ-like ... rather Pharisee-like. The problem in Christianity is that if you have 5 Theologians you have 5 different interpretations. Every Theologian can prove their point of view also using the King James version. How are the lay people supposed to follow? I do not have a problem with how you interpret, but I do have a problem how you call everybody else names like Pentacatholic and denomic. If I was about to listen to you as a lay person, you just lost me and I would dislike. I dont think you will reach anybody with such language. If you want to bring across your message you will reach more hearts if you don't attack other religions but rather speak in love by explaining without attacking.

This is why I’m beginning to believe Universal salvation has been the truth all along. These doods pick up a bible and read some words and automatically feel obliged to whine and bitch about what others believe. There has never been a parable (like the parable of the 10 virgins)..that has confused me more. I have watched so many pastors and preachers explain this teaching, and have never been satisfied with any explanation. This video is the only one that made any sense to me.

Especially in the last number of years, I see comments all over KZbin videos as well as in Christian chat rooms - "Keep oil in your lamps and your wicks trimmed," "Make sure you're not a foolish virgin," and the "Are you rapture ready" question that, if viewed/read in more depth invariably includes a reference to being a wise virgin. Fear is a great motivator or, put another way, de-motivator as I've been so scared sometimes that I spend hours seeking for answers online (not a great source overall as there is so much junk out there) instead of the Word (what I believe the Lord has been impressing on me a LOT lately). The result was that I was so inward-focused, scared, and flailing for answers that I was not a good witness to others, to say the least. This teaching really makes sense to me by comparing scripture with scripture.

Dear Brian, Thank you for this wise and bible based word. This parable of the 10 virgins has always been a bit of a mystery to me. In fact, just recently I have been listening to various different explanations on the subject and was listening to another when I saw your video on the sidebar. Although I could see some truth in some of the previous videos my heart was not comfortable with their conclusions. I need look no further now that I have heard your explanation which I am completely comfortable with. I already understood how Mathew 24 was talking to the Jews and did not apply as an argument against the pre-trib rapture. So it's like Duh! It's the same for Chapter 25. Thank you for spelling it out for me and others who may be greatly helped by this important teaching in dispensationalism. May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you richly my friend.

It took me 58 years to be exposed to rightly dividing the word. Then the light came on. When I realized that the break between testaments wasn't at Mathew, it made me look at who Jesus was talking to and when. Contradictions were removed. I realized as a small child that God had dealt with Abraham differently then the Pauline new converts. I simply had never had anyone bring up dispensations. That's why planted seeds need tending. They can be watered with the word and protected from the birds(false teachers) snatching them up. I have sought God all my life but I now have joy due to new understanding. Can't say I agree with this view. 10 virgins waiting for Jesus to return at the rapture...does not sound like it fits the Jews...who are not waiting for Jesus. I believe there are actually faithful Christians and unfaithful Christians. Christians are waiting for our bridegroom...not Jews. Doesn't matter if it was spoken before Christ was crucified because Jesus was speaking about a time in the future...when He was in Heaven and was already crucified. I do not think the oil is the Holy Spirit though.

You know how you said around 37:10 "fear is a great controlling mechanism of people" i just thought it was interesting the contrast between the fear that man tries to make you feel and the fear of god. Odd - I left a positive response yesterday and it's gone today. Glad I returned. :) While watching this video I recalled that J. Vernon McGee, whose verse-by-verse teaching I respect, had a different "take" on the 10 Virgins from what I generally hear taught. I just listened to his teaching on Matthew 25 and it is the same as your teaching, Brian. McGee made a comment in the teaching that Jesus was responding to questions asked of Him by Jewish disciples about "the Kingdom of God" and if we would just listen to what Jesus said and to whom he was speaking, we wouldn't try to make this passage say something it doesn't say. Another interesting comment (and he referenced it with another scripture I'll have to go back to recall) - the marriage customs of that day (and pretty much the same now) is that when the groom went to the marriage supper it was AFTER the marriage and WITH the bride. He also said that the marriage of Jesus and His bride takes place in heaven but the marriage supper takes place on earth when Jesus returns with His bride. I'm not going to be dogmatic on that last point but it does make sense.

I think it says somewhere in the Bible that Jesus was full of grace and truth. Not so much the case with you. Don't really get all the sarcasm and condescension. Tough to listen to what you are trying to convey when you bring it across in such a spiritually childish manner. You might want to check yourself a little bit. Okay a lot. And don't take my word for it or other folks who have noticed the obvious. Find somebody in your fellowship who you have respect for and ask them to give you an honest evaluation of your tone and your delivery. One thing for certain, Jesus is coming back. Very good study! I always wondered why I'd hear preachers say to christians, "pray that you are worthy to escape the things that are coming and to stand before the Son of man" (in paraphrased reference to Luke 21:36). I'd think to myself.."aren't we already worthy by the blood of Jesus Christ?!" I've also heard people say the foolish virgins are false converts. But you still can't get around the fact that you can't buy the Holy Spirit and it's about works there. Thank you for this brother.

I heard someone say recently that none of the 10 virgins had oil to begin with, they all had to buy it; just that 5 had purchased enough to keep their lamps going so none of them were Christians. That got me thinking because I'd always heard the same teaching/admonitions you have; this video put it all together. :) On our local radio station we receive the ministry program "Love Worth Finding" by Dr. Adrian Rogers, now deceased. I heard a series of teachings by him on the various Matthew 25 parables and they were nothing like I usually heard. I've been trying to find those on his website to listen again.

I like his vids but he is wrong on the 10 virgins. He is thinking ,for several reasons it is talking about something other than the bride of christ. Each one of his objections is easily contradicted. "One bride not 10 virgins" Ok,so one person on the planet is Jesus Bride. He makes fun of the "oil" ,oil is usually used as a type of the Holy Spirit. He thinks "buying oil is some heresy,but in the seven letters to the seven churches the church is told to buy Gold. OBVIOUSLY A TYPE. (but oil isn't?) System of works????? Oh,he thinks the 5 foolish are ousted from salvation. Not true.They are left behind. They are martyred by the AC. How can he actually miss the "oil" thingy? Lets see,as believers we have "light" and we can choose to walk carnally or full of the Holy Spirit. Isn't this basic no brainer stuff. Full vs partial or empty? It says they had Oil,and obviously light,but without oil,what happens? the LIGHT GOES OUT. That is WHY they could not come into the marriage AT THAT TIME. They had to be martyred. Note that they are seen in rev BEFORE THE THRONE,WITH WASHED ROBES. Why were their robes dirty?

Can we just discount that five of the ten didn't enter in because they didn't have enough oil in their lamps or is that the foundational point of the parable? There are millions of professing christians in the world today that have felt the Lords' presence and have been filled with the Spirit but have never recieved," The anointing that abideth". That "anointing" is the Holy Spirit also described as,"The Spirit of Christ".The Word says that," He that hath not the Spirit of Christ are none of His". That would definately keep a believer out of the kingdom.Those that do would already be visiting the sick and incarcerated.They already would be feeding the hungry.What is the reason that so many believers don't have the indwelling Spirit? Because they haven't been baptized in the Holy Spirit ,which is, to be filled to overflowing.What causes the overflow once you've been filled? Surrendering our tongue to the Spirit so that He can verbally, in His language, bear witness that the believer has been " born of the Spirit".

Another teacher (one of the more well-known ones...trying to recall who) has said that the book of Hebrews was written to Jewish believers to get them to stop acting like Jews (meaning don't go back to the sacrificial system that was a shadow of what was to come ie. the Lord Jesus).

Thanks for this video, you clarified things for me, because, my church teaches that God will divide Christians on sheeps and goats, and, if we want to be sheep, we need to be sinless and we need to find poor people and feed them and buy them a clothes, and, if we dont, Jesus will say to us, depart from me, cause you never fed me and never clothe me, cause True Christians suppose to do good works, and, if you dont do good works, you not saved, and, if you dont have a love in you, you remain in death, means, you not saved either

Good study. One question - In Hebrews 6:4-6, regarding those that were once enlightened, tasted of the heavenly gift, been made partakers of the Holy Ghost etc. if they fall away it is impossible to renew them - do you have a teaching or video that addresses this? Is this addressed to the Jews?

@Cheryl - That scripture has literally terrified me so I began researching it. Most of the studies I've read believe that the book of Hebrews was written to Jews who were new believers in Jesus as Messiah but were undergoing extreme persecution from those in their synagogues. For a Jew to confess Jesus as Messiah at that time could result in them being killed, such as Stephen being stoned, so fear for their lives was a reality. Some wanted to have a foot in both worlds, believe in Jesus but still continue the sacrificial offerings. In a nutshell and paraphrased, that scripture is saying to Jews in that situation, if you start out with Jesus but then return to the sacrifices and laws that were but a foreshadowing of what was to come then you've trampled on the blood of Christ. Some teachers believe that these Jews may have sat under the teaching that Jesus is the Messiah but never truly believed. There's a good teaching on this by a man who used to be part of The Way of the Master and now has videos called "Wretched" (which is a weird name and he's kind of a different guy, but I've found his teachings to be sound.)

The 10 virgins are not the Bride. They are bridesmaids and the 5 wise virgins will be taken when Jesus and his bride comes from the wedding (Luke_12:36)

So I'm on the same page with you that Jesus taught regarding either the law dispensation or the dispensation following grace dispensation...mostly. I am a dispensationalist because it is very clear in Scripture, but to say that Jesus never said anything that could apply to the Church (keeping grace and righteousness by faith in mind), I'm not sure. If the Church is the Bride, and we go into the wedding preceding the tribulation period (I'm also a pre time of jacobs trouble believer) and the marriage supper happens after the tribulation (Rev 19) what about Matthew 25 verse 10 ...they went in to the MARRIAGE. The marriage happens pre tribulation period, right? It doesn't say they went in to the marriage supper. So can you clarify this?

Just wondering why it says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬ www.bible.com/bible/1/2ti.3.16.kjv By the way, the lamps is a picture of God’s word, and the oil is His Holy Ghost. There were also things in the Old Testament that pertained to the New. The door is Christ. And when that door is shut the Time of Grace is over. It’s a story, just like the story of our Wedding, which also occurs in Matthew. It could be coming from the Jewish perspective for our dispensation though. Anyways, just some thoughts to consider.

@Patrick Leroi - Both Jews and Gentiles who believe that Christ is the Messiah are the church, the Body of Christ. There are three main "denominations" for lack of a better term of Jewish belief today: Orthodox, Consevative, and Reform Judaism. Orthodox Jews believe in keeping the laws with Conservative and Reform Jews being more liberal in their beliefs. Within the Orthodox group there are some "ultra-Orthodox" groups, such as Hassidic Jews. At the present, God's provision of Jesus as the final "sacrificial lamb" is offered to all people: Jews and Gentiles, with Gentiles comprising any other group that are not Jewish such as Indians, Arabs, etc. The works that are referred to in this video are for the Jews that do not accept Jesus as Messiah and are living during the time referred to as "Jacob's Trouble" or God's dealing with the Jews after the Believers (Jew and Gentile) are taken in the rapture. I highly recommend a man by the name of Amir Tsarfati - an Israeli Jew who is a believer in Jesus the Messiah. He lives in Israel but travels the world with his ministry which is called Behold Israel. You can find him on KZbin via his name or ministry - do look for the Behold Israel insignia to make sure it is a video actually done by Amir. Some people take bits and pieces of Amir's videos and put them on KZbin and are often not accurate. God bless you.

God bless you Brian and your family and thank you for this study, very helpful to me to understand the context of Matthew 25 and the ten virgins being Israel, I to presumed it was the bride, I see now I was wrong, much obliged to you, Praise the Lord. However some question arose in my mind regarding faith, surely the Jews in the tribulation period must live by faith in God to bring forth any works and the question arose in my mind will the Jews in that period of time still not believe in Christ until He comes down? If so what will the two witness be teaching other than faith in Christ alone. I can only conclude with my current understanding of that dispensation is that its the same gospel but backwards ; sanctification before their justification comes through faith. The two witnesses will have the fullness of The Holy Spirit in Christ and God he Father and the only ones on earth at that time who are the two olive branches/candlesticks supplying the candlestick(Israel?) with oil out of themselves Zechariah 4:12 ; Revelation 11:4 KJV Therefore oil is the Holy Spirit but in this dispensation therefore, is the oil of Matthew 25 of the virgins simply obedience to follow what these two prophets of God are teaching, Christ to come? Therefore it is still the same gospel of faith alone in Christ alone but the environment with the Jews is simply applied differently being back to front as in the old testament? I think that is what you where teaching in essence but I am unsure because many people teach the same thing but in their own understanding and language which is the confusion I am trying to clear in my mind because I believe in the same God and the same gospel through out, faith alone but in that dispensation of the Jews trouble for unbelief and refining its reversed but it is still faith alone which fruit brings the works towards their Messiah to come, therefore the oil of the wise virgins is belief in God and the Torah and the foolish virgins belief in the Talmud and Rome's handling and power.Zechariah 14:5 ; Revelation 11:13-19 KJV Is this what you where teaching or am I in error and have misunderstood this lesson, I am seeking to learn the truth as my understanding in this period is limited and I find it difficult to learn at the best of times having a learning disability and the attention span and concentration of a goldfish. Two great Bible studies, brother. Thank you! I hope you see this comment, because I'd like to hear your thoughts om the following: Both John the baptist and Jesus preached that "the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand" unto the jews. I have heard many preachers say, or at least imply - including you - (sorry if I'm mistaken) that the jews back then had a choice, by free will, to accept Jesus as their Messiah and thereby receive the physical Kingdom of Heaven. But did they really have that choice? Or even after the death and resurrection of Jesus, did they still have that choice? As I read Isaiah 53 and other prophecies about Jesus, I don't really see how the jews back then even had a choice to accept Him. If they would have accepted Him, then the prophecies would not have been fulfilled. Other prophecies like Daniel 9:26 and Zechariah 12 etc. would not have been fulfilled either if the jews would have accepted Jesus. Paul says that "God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day." Since God Himself caused the jews to reject Him, in order to bring salvation to all mankind; was not their rejection of Jesus already pre-determined by God and thereby the physical Kingdom of Heaven delayed (i.e. they had no choice)? I would not say that the Jews rejecting Jesus Christ was "pre-determined", more like prophesied. I believe that God knew what they were going to do, but He still allowed them to make the decision to reject Jesus by their own free will. Some of this stuff is pretty hard to understand, simply because of the conflict between eternity and earth. God knows everything that will happen, but we don't (unless it is clearly revealed in His word). 1 Corinthians 13:12 tells the situation well.

+I Peter 4:16 Read Ezekiel 36, especially from verse 22. Also, read Zechariah 12. If the Jews were to return to the land of Israel only if they are in belief, then why do they mourn as they look upon Him whom they have pierced? The prophecy says that there will be a "great mourning in Jerusalem" in that day. If they are already in belief, why the mourning? According to Ezekiel 36, God brings back the Jews to their own land while they're in unbelief. Why? Because they profaned His holy name among the heathen. God's holy name is sanctified when the Jews are brought back to the land of Israel. Zechariah 12 further confirms the fact that the Jews will already be in Israel, specifically in Jerusalem, at the second coming of Jesus.

5 ancient known planets ; it's the same 5 twice counted. the 5 planets were seen as lesser gods. The duo Mars & Venus is known as the Twin, sometimes with Mercury (= Hermes) as a trinity ; Hermes trismegistos or the 3 magi. If we count 5 + 2, the total plus twin = 7 (5 loaves + 2 fishes), a partial double counting. If we also count the polar-star as a dweller (not following a proper path either) we get 8. Micah 5 : 5 , 7 shepherds even 8 commanders (princely men).

This speaker is more concerned about mocking the gift of tongues than trying to discern Scripture. Read Romans 8:1, 8:9, Galatians 5: 16-26, 1 Corinthians 9: 27. The correct teaching is to be born again by following the promise of Acts 2: 38-39, and then walking with the Spirit of Christ, and not by the flesh.

Bryan, I hold the bible and I do not hold to the doctrine of "dispensational teachings". The first "dispensation" is a lie! God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This command is not a covenant between Adam and Eve, and God. The 5th commandment of God's royal law is, Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. According to Luke 3:38 (which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.) Adam clearly was the son of God. God is Adam's Father. Adam and Eve sinned against their Father, God.
