Who are the paragons of the Klaxxi? - wow lore
The Paragons of the klaxxi are each a legendary hero of the mantid from the past who specialized in 1 specific field to the point they were grated the title of paragon.
Once grated the title of paragon they are perserved in a block of living amber that will put them to sleep and keep them alive for thousands of years until they are needed for whatever reason by the klaxxi. Also the person who puts them to sleep is killed right after so that no one can know the location of the sleeping paragons. One of the paragons never actually passed out when perserved and was incased for over 800 hundred years before you break him out. The Lucid explains that after 78 Years he gave up on breaking out and spent that other 799 years making puzzles and solving them to keep his mind sharp. Now there isn't really a reason I mention Lucid apart from the other 8 paragons, its just I found it facsinating how he was imobolized for 800 years and didn't go insane. But he does mention frequently that hes not quiet sure if he actually went insane or not.
The Opening sequence does a nice job explaining the Paragons and why they put themselvs in blocks of amber.
During the Dread waste quest lines the klaxxi are not really on your side, your just kind of being used to help them overthrow their current queen.
The Klaxxi do technically serve the mantid queen except when the queen endangers the mantid race as a whole. If the Klaxxi find their queen to be a threat to their cycle they use the paragons to kill her and put a new queen into power.
After reachin exalted with the Klaxxi, the wind-reaver, the first paragon you awaken, will tell you the origin of the Mantid
To sum up what he said, the Mantid have been around since the time before the titans came to azeroth. When the titans came, they imprisoned all the old gods and created new races. The Mantid worshiped the old god y'shaarj and the name "Klaxxi" actually means priesthood in their old tounge. Meaning the Klaxxi started off as a religious sec that worshipped the old god.
And since they worship the old gods they give you a warning. Should their god come back, they will serve him no matter what.
So when Garrosh takes the heart of Y'shaarj and awakens it, the old god immediatly starts his wispers to the klaxxi and they all flock to garrosh and die protecting the Chamber that contains the heart of their God.
