Interesting there is a Pokémon attack called Night slash which in Japanese is called tsujigiri. And it’s also a dark type move

yeah a samurai who killed a man in public was still financially liable and had to pay a fine, similar restrictions to that of their European counterparts. The myth of knights and noblemen pestering the commonfolk for giggles is bc of modern perceptions of class.

During the edo period most low class samurai were very very poor due to the lack of wars. Many became bandits robbing ppl in the country side. Also interesting detail about the laws you mentioned although they made the practices of killing animals they still had butchers but they were of the lowest of the lowest class. This was due to the religious beliefs at the time and are very similar to the untouchable caste in India. Most of the time they had to live outside of town in hamlet villages. Their caste was referred to as the Burakumin. This also how they made leather during the edo period.

While Japan is happy to market Samurai as part of its' cultural image, because the rest of the world is intrigued by the warrior class, their own perception of Samurai is much darker and the Japanese consider them to be very corrupt and vicious people.

The samurai killed civilians quite often. A reason could be as simple as "he said my wife was ugly" there's quite a bit if records for shit like this . The witness was mainly there to veryify the insult. OR if it was a duel between samurai, the witness needed to verify it was a fair fight, meaning no sneak attack, and you told the opponet "i am coming "

Most Westerners have an exaggerated image of ronin. 47 Ronin is a special case; Most ronin are second-born or later, and unless they are adopted by a samurai family that has no sons, or marry a daughter of a samurai family that has no sons and leave home, they must remain at home in case their first child dies. lived

Not all of them, and it's still debatable how many samurai performed tsujigiri. "The tradition" itself was considered a cowardly and crime act, and it was happen during Japan's chaotic civil war.

One of the things that contributed to the wildness of the American Wild West was the end of the American Civil War. The Civil War flooded the country with cheap guns, and people who could not get used to peace again went west.
@sid2112
@sid2112 3 күн бұрын
That is an incredible misstatement of historical facts. The "Wild West" was nowhere near as wild as the movies made it out to be. The sensationalism of tabloids at the time did their part too. The west was a harsh life, but you had more trouble with wildlife that you did with most people. As far as the guns are concerned, they all had guns before the Civil War and continued to do so afterwards. The 2nd Amendment saw to that long before any war ever did.
