Phantom just hits different. I’m a Crown alum but Phantoms version literally gives you the gates of heaven in their sound. Makes you want to just stand with your arms stretched out and the sour praise face🙌🏾😫

Phantom was more interpretive of the piece. Horns have their "signature" brilliance and FULL tone. Guard, as usual, sets off the "expressive" delicate musical subtleties to make this performance "top-notch" to my mind!

They ALL did it best. That’s what’s so great about this activity. You get the heart, soul, beauty, and work from the performers, regardless of their placement.

This might be because I was there on finals night and was in front of them live, Phantom's interpretation was just so powerful and unique compared to others performed by Crown and BK previously. It was really one of the top highlights of the evening, when there were many highlights from all the corps that night. So that's saying something.

Crown’s 2010 version totally gets it. Goosebumps all the way, thanks to its willingness to let Edward Elgar’s original flowing, dreamlike phrasing to go unmolested by any drum corps decorations or impatience. Absolutely gorgeous, and Crown’s glowing brass sound reaches Chicago-Symphony-esque heights. 🏆🏆🏆

I got to perform this piece in my sophomore year of high school marching band in 2014 at Mansfield HS in Texas it was so much fun to play! Really a beautiful piece and one that lends itself well to the marching arts

This one was tough for me to decide on between Crown 2010 and Phantom 2013. Crown brass and percussive interpretation was lush and so controlled with such a nice balanced sound. Phantom emotionally drew me in, and had the complete package... edge to Phantom 2013.

I read the comments veggie listening, hoping to get A PREVIEW of what was to come. I didn't hear what everyone else did. So I opened my eyes fire the second pass to allow visualization to assist sound....still didn't hear it. What I DID hear both times was CCs dungancreery range was greater than everyone else's. If who your playing for can't see they hear even better. If your performance tabbed from 2 to 9, and someone else ranges 1 to 19, greater range of sound means greater range of feelings. CC 2010, but not by a lot.

Phantom Regiment had the better arrangement but Crown played it better. The Mello run in the phantom show was a hot mess, and intonation on high notes suffered. From a brass scoring standpoint id give Phantom like an 18 and crown like a 19.
