For me Alice Cooper has this, but it's a good cover from Dio. Being 'Spooky Season' I recommend some early tracks from Alice Cooper, 'Sick Things', 'Billion Dollar Babies', and possibly, 'I Love The Dead'.

The Nightmare LP was the first with Alice taking the name rather than the band and it's produced by Bob Ezrin. You can tell by the Strings.

I have been aware of this song for a very long time, but I have never heard it. I loved both versions, but for different reasons, Alice's version was so cool and funky, but Ronnie's had a killer vocal. So I will give this one a dead heat.

Alice Cooper's version until now is the only one I've ever heard! I'm a fan of both Alice and Ronnie but until now I hadn't heard Ronnie s version, it's so cool and I like both versions for different reasons!

There was only ever going to be one winner here. I bought Vincent's version when it came out in 1975 and I still give it a spin every so often. The horns are magnificent. I wasn't aware of RJD's version and have to say it sounds like a bad tribute act you would see on a cruise ship. If you want to try something else from this album have a listen to the 'Steven' suite (Years Ago/Steven/The Awakening) its 10 minutes of magic

Thanks you guys. You let me down easy with my Halloween suggestion without letting the cat out of the bag. I liked the comparison. I agreed with Chris. The Dio version was great but you can’t beat the original. It’s hard to beat the production skills of that other famous Canadian, Bob Ezrin who was a big contributor to the album as well as Dick Wagner on guitar. Thanks for that. Keep up the great work.👍

I've been a big Alice Cooper fan since the early 70's and bought this album when it came out. I think as great as Dio's version is, there's just no topping Alice in this one. Alice has inspired so many artists that came after him and Dio was one of them. He was an Alice fan and said that Alice was one of his music inspirations. Anyway, good job on the reaction!

If you want to compare another track from Alice try Only Women Bleed with Julie Covington's version, Alices version was banned in the UK for some strange reason, no doubt someone interpreting the lyrics wrongly.

Look, I'm probably biased, but the Alice version is way better. Ronnies vocals are amazing as always, but the Coop really delivers something a bit different and strange. It is really the backing band that makes a huge difference though. One sounds like a bunch of studio pros, the other one sounds like a music theatre group that has a young technically talented guitar player that hasn't discovered their soul. But what do I know, I'm just some guy.
