As a Brit who has been greatly impacted by Dr Michael Mosely (I'm a health scientist & his work has helped me with my work), thank you very much for remembering him. He's very much missed by many people in the UK. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family, friends & colleagues.

I love in the UK, and the outpouring of shock and grief for this amazing man still reigns. He was innovative, non-patronising, and truly put his health on the line to help others. He has helped many, and will go on to help many more, for many years. He will be missed. Rest well, Michael and thank you 😢

I am a big fan of character actors and Tom Bower has always been one of my favorites. I was lucky enough to meet him at the 2010 Syracuse Film Festival. We talked for several minutes and I got to ask him about a couple of his movies; namely Nixon and True Believer. He was very nice and seemed happy to talk to someone who really knew his career. I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

Excellent work, but on the anniversaries you overlooked the late, great Jim Nabors who was born on 12 June 1930 and died on 30 November 2017. He was best known as a best friend and frequent guest of Carol Burnett, his fabulous baritone voice and as Gomer Pyle, USMC. He also received 3 honorary promotions by the US Marine Corps to include Sergeant. May he rest in peace.

Not many know this, but Gene Wilder was a paramedic. Born Jerome Silberman, he was drafted into the war as a medical corps training in Fort Sam Houston. Once his training was finished, he was assigned to the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at Valley Forge Army Hospital in Pennsylvania where he worked as a paramedic for two years, before being discharged from his services in '59. 8 years later he and fellow veteran Mel Brooks would make their first collaboration together, The Producers, which is partly based on Mel Brooks' recollections of WWII. May he rest peacefully. He was one of the many people that inspired me into film and televison. I'm currently working on a series I hope to stream on KZbin soon.

Of course the death of Jerry West tops the headlines of those lost from the sport this week, but Chet Walker was a durable player who never played fewer than 76 games in each of his 13 NBA seasons and should've been inducted into the HOF years prior. He was also one of Wilt Chamberlain's favorite teammates. Walker's presence on the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76er team was vital to it becoming one of the greatest teams of all time, not only winning the NBA Championship, but also boasting a 68-13 record.

Jerry West also wrote a how to improve your memory book with Harry Lorraine and went on The Johnny Carson show to promote the book. He had memorized the names of the entire audience of 250 before the show started and when it came time for him to appear as a guest he came out, had the audience stand and as he called their name they sat down. Sometimes he couldn’t remember a person’s name and would skip over them, leaving them standing. At the end he had about 7 or 8 people left standing and then he proceeded to name each person left standing. Then Johnny told the audience that Jerry West had been scheduled for the previous night’s show so he had memorized that audience’s names but the show ran long so he wasn’t brought out that night and was asked to come back this night and memorize this audience’s names! I bought the book and it works if you practice the instructions!

The NBA wouldn't be what it is now without Jerry West. One of the greatest players in college, Olympic Gold medalist, is the NBA logo, greatness GM in all of sports history. Put together Showtime teams, Kobe Shaq teams, GM of the Memphis Grizzlies and put together their first team to win over 50 games and go to the playoffs. Helped build the Warriors with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. That team won four championships. The only person voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame three times.
