I'm a European of Spanish/Italian descent and lived in Japan for 7 Months. My height (5'8/174cm) is average, same as my weight (155lbs/70kg) So I obviously don't look like a stereotype Hollywood star. In my case, women didn't chase me and wanted to date me like crazy. I'm blessed with very strong and thick facial hair and love to grow it out for 6-9 months what also isn't popular among Japanese women (not to mention all my dark chest hair lol) So from my experience I can tell that as a average foreigner, I wasn't more popular than Japanese guys. I'd rather say that my huge massive beard made me less popular haha. But all I can recommend is stay loyal to yourself. Don't change yourself just to impress someone. It took me a while, but finally I also met some Nihonjin who were into that hairy beast look 😆 Just be patient and don't force anything. There are 8 billion people on this planet. There's a lot of selection for everyone's taste. Regards from Germany 🇩🇪

I’m actually contemplating traveling to Japan to try and find a wife. I’ve always loved japan as well as I’ve always found Japanese women to be extremely beautiful and I love their sense of values. It’s hard to find here in the U.S. and I haven’t had the best of luck here in the states in regards to women. I pretty much have a inability to grow any kind of facial/chest hair except my pedo stache if I let it grow out which I never do lol also even though I just turned 30 on the 23rd I still look extremely young for my age. Whenever I tell people my age they get all wide eyed and say that I look more like I’m anywhere from 18-22. Also I don’t have much in the way of muscle mass as my weight pretty much stagnates around the 140-145 LBS mark so I’m hoping I have more luck there then I do here as most people don’t find my aesthetic desirable but from what I’ve heard and read Japanese women prefer men like that

The only thing that’s been stopping me from going to japan is that my Japanese is extremely limited to a couple phrases and I can’t read kanji at all so the thought of moving there has been really intimidating as I don’t want to be viewed as a barbarian who is incapable of both speech as well as reading and writing lol

Pretty simple here: Be handsome, tall and speak Japanese. Being funny is a plus but since japan culture for humor is different, just do it if you are into the culture and have a good understand of it, otherwise it will be cringe/awkward And if you have a lot of hair/beard, shave it. Then you maybe have a chance for short term relationships/dating. The wrong thing about these comparisons, it's that japanese girls think about foreigners as celebrities/actors, not the ordinary people, the only foreigners they see are from movies and magazines, so the standards are high. So don't get high expectations after watching these interviews.

I’m not convinced, but I do think societal pressures tend to have that effect (especially with Japanese only establishments) and when you’re already stressed from work. Quick question, on the assumption you were born in the US or Canada. Would you teach your kids(s) about your heritage or no? Cause there are a ton of videos where people of mixed heritage that just say "white" when talking about one side of the family and than going into detail about the other(most often times ethnic) side. I've had friends tell me they don't know one or both sides of their family is from due to the parents refusing to say or not knowing. Which is sad cause languages, traditions and culture is lost a long the way.
@SpiritShinobi2 жыл бұрын
Could you tell us how it is difficult? I really want to know
@julienlamberto98572 жыл бұрын
@@SpiritShinobi Well, to understand why it's difficult, you'd have to understand the deeper philosophy/culture of Japan. Up until the late 19th century, Japan was closed to almost all outside influence aside from the occasional trading between the Japanese and the Dutch and Portuguese. This isolationistic tendency was no accident. Indeed, it is a byproduct of the Japanese ethos which highly values uniformity, homogeneity, and social harmony. This historical legacy was not erased by the sudden influx of predominantly Western culture in the late 19th century and following the collapse of the Japanese Empire after WWII. Indeed, one can see this mindset still very much alive in contemporary Japanese society. As part of this aversion to most things non-Japanese, is an instinctive distrust/fear towards foreigners and what they represent. Sure, there is an appreciation for foreign culture, but this appreciation has limits. Like a visitor to a zoo, the Japanese individual will admire the spectacles of cultures and ideas different from their own, but at an arms length. However, were this to become a situation where they would have to directly interact, or god forbid, alter their mindset/behavior to interact with a foreigner, this, I'm afraid, is often asking for the impossible as they (Japanese) will very likely avoid any kind of genuine interactions with a foreigner. If you’re serious about finding a Japanese girl, your best bet would be to 1) find one already living abroad; 2) one who has express interest in learning about foreign languages and cultures.

The first 2 girls were hilarious! Agree, that the combination of different people from different cultures makes something interesting for each. That said long-term it can be more difficult for compatibility of course. The way they said "I'm free!" then because of "requirements list being long" came across as if they were about to give the technical specification of a computer! LOL. Very funny and true no doubt. Agree with the last lady: that phone number-giving is crass behaviour, it does not value the other person's thoughts enough, first.
@マット無理2 жыл бұрын
I don't agree at all I think giving someone your phone number to the contrary of asking for a phone number is way better. Asking for a phone number from a random person that you like on the street pushes them in a corner that is very uncomfortable, but simply giving a phone number... literally who cares nothing is said nothing is pressured upon you. You can decide what you do with the number. All in all, I think it's a great way to not pressure or confront someone in a public space while still getting your message across. Ps. The women in the end didn't call it crass behavior she said 攻撃的 (kougekiteki) which is very literally translated as aggressive but in this context is used to just describe the more outgoing/confident nature of foreign people compared to the shyness of Japanese people which she herself said is not a bad thing.

It kind of implies that you view the woman as purely a sexual object imo. Especially on a train...I know people don't talk at all on trains in Japan. A lot of people are commenting that most of these answers are biased because they'd only seen foreigners from movies so they wouldn't want to date regular people from other countries and I disagree. One of the girls literally said that there was an American boy at her school that she found attractive and would date. The model woman also stated a specific type that she has when it comes to foreign men. Sure, most Japanese women have probably gotten most of their views of foreigners from movies, that's why they give celebrities as examples but that doesn't mean they would only date a foreigner if they were celebrity hot. Some people prefer to date foreigners because of the culture and personality difference that they often have and that's likely the case here.

Wow! Some really beautiful and cool girls in this interview Takashii-kun. The model was sugoi kawaii 😍 and quite open minded too. She didn't really mind the language barrier like the others did. The girl with the done up nails was good looking and had a cool vibe about her too ☺

Takashii-kun taking the comments about girls preferring foreigners like a champ. Even if he dies a little inside, he's not showing it at all, i probably couldnt do that with such grace. Or maybe hes in a very stable, happy relationship, and really doesnt care? Good for him in that case.

I think the magic of meeting/personally knowing/dating/marrying someone is best summarized as both people learning and sharing their vastly different lives with each other. Where there's soo much difference to keep things from getting boring. Just like, for example, that woman mentioning liking Disney stuff. That's very akin to foreigners liking Anime and Manga.

It's good that Japanese women think tactically. They all said they may date a foreigner if they could communicate with them in their language. Makes perfect sense and shows that communication is important to them. I wouldn't be opposed to dating someone from another country.. I've already dated some and the misunderstanding can cause many issues. Definitely need to have a strong connection and feeling with the person. I love these videos, it's nice to watch and reflect on my own interests. It's also nice to try and see if I can understand some of the words spoken. Love the videos! : ]

As someone who is together with a Chinese woman for 2 years now, I honestly think the biggest barrier is the cultural one when it comes to dating East Asian women/men. Once both partners adjust and be more understanding of their own unique cultural differences, living together gets easier and in the end, is more fun, it's not easy in the beginning though. :D However, there are a couple of things I noticed with Japanese/Chinese girls when dating them. First, my kinda decent height at 6.1 feet seems to be of help, but that looks to be the case with any woman nowadays anyways, so not very specific to Japan. Also, being pretty low body fat is a big one, I noticed that. I am not slim and super fit in recent times but I guess my general attractiveness overplayed that factor just a little bit. But being lean is a big plus in East Asia. Another thing is, and I think a lot of guys noticed that already, there seems to be some sort of unspoken symbiosis between Asians and northern/middle Europeans. They find their features equally super attractive, god knows why that is, lol. I personally think, and this is just down to my own preferences, East Asian girls (Koreans/Chinese/Japanese) are the most beautiful and cute girls in general and I believe a lot of East Asian girls seem to feel similar when it comes to attractive, white males. There is one very big exception though, and that's my next point. One thing East Asians seem to hate wholeheartedly almost universally is beards. I kid you not, I have nice beard genetics but whenever I grow it out over a tiny amount of stubble it's like some sort of Asian women defense mod mechanism I turn on accidentally, lol. Even my gf now always prefers me clean-shaven, always. With European girls, a nice stubble helps, but in East Asia don't attempt it, it actually does the opposite and hurts your dating life exponentially. All of this is just my personal insight and experience. :)
@ClampshellTheMighty2 жыл бұрын
It terms of having a beard as long it's well kept and relatively short it's ok in my experience. That being said I also have long hair and am a musician so I think (at least in terms of Japan) it's more socially acceptable. That's just my experience.
@ClampshellTheMighty2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaeltheORIGINAL1 my girlfriend (who's Japanese) specially asked me to grow mine out (I had shaved it off before we started dating) because she thinks Aaron Paul (Jessie Pinkman breaking bad) is cute. That and she seems to enjoy trimming it. Other Japanese women I have dated didn't seem to mind either but I would say those who dated me obviously were attracted to me in the first place.
@MichaeltheORIGINAL12 жыл бұрын
@@ClampshellTheMighty Yeah, I am sure there are a lot of Japanese women that are okay with beards, but as you said, in your case, they were attracted to you in the first place. My fiance also "tolerates" it if I want to grow my beard a little, but she is always so damn happy when I finally shave it, haha. She told me it has something to do with looking more orderly etc. although I take good care of my beard so I asked her, don't you see the afford I put into the maintenance? But she doesn't quite get it, lol.
@ClampshellTheMighty2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaeltheORIGINAL1I think I saw some where this also a hygiene component. I think it said some Japanese people think beards make you look dirty and a lot of Japanese people are very fastidious. Though I could be mistaken.

Younger Japanese women have now had the wool pulled away from their eyes. The wool is the massive and ancient Japanese traditions that are waiting for them in adulthood: traditions of selfless duty towards men and the selfless duty towards parents and the selfless duty towards elders and the selfless duty towards family. They see that foreigners don't have those expectations of them, and that is very attractive. But the risk is that foreigners won't treat them predictably -so they are simultaneously risky. Thus their intense curiosity for "western culture" is based on escaping Japanese cultural expectations for women and the excitement that the unknown can bring to their lives. It's not at all surprising.
@GCNavigator2 жыл бұрын

@samuraijosh15952 жыл бұрын
But that wool has what's brought them to become Such a great coutry. That wool was also present in the West. Now that it's not present in the West, dating in the West is super hard for guys and hence they tend to settle for the next best option: naive self-hating asian girls.
