The end of the song "Bad Reputation" opens the video, the first song Joan Jett and The Blackhearts released, and that song really laid out Joan's philosophy. She was going to be herself, and everyone else just get out of the way. With a few expletives thrown in. Got to experience Joan Jett from about two feet away in a club in Boston one night. So much energy and pure presence, you gotta love what she brings. And by the way, she really does love rock and roll. She proves it every time she takes the stage.

She still is badass. More Joan Jett please!! She has done some phenomenal covers. This is one (original by The Arrows). Other great covers include: Crimson and Clover (Tommy James and the Shondells), Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC), Love Hurts (The Everly Brothers, famously covered by Nazareth), Season of the Witch (Donovan). I would also recommend the songs Do You Want to Touch Me, I Hate Myself for Loving You, Bad Reputation (you hear it at the beginning of this video), and Little Liar. Further back is her work in The Runaways.

Believe it or not, this Blackhearts version in 1981 is Joan Jett's second remake of the song, which was first released by British glam rockers Arrows in 1975. Her first remake was with Steve Jones & Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols, after both their old bands broke up. The latter version sounded more like a guide track, embracing a more muscular sound (& with British backing vocals!), & was released as a B-side single in 1979.
