Mein Kampf, the autobiographical, anti-Semitic hate-manifesto written by Adolf Hitler in the 1920s is one of the most controversial and infamous books of all time. As you might imagine, this has resulted in millions of copies of the book being sold since Hitler did the world a major favour and heroically (and with no regard for his own personal safety) managed to infiltrate the Führerbunker and take out one of the most hated individuals of all time- himself- in 1945.

Interesting, I have a copy, bought it at a second hand book store in NorCal years ago, paperback, translated by Ralph Manheim; publisher is Mariners Books, and looking inside the cover, they are a division/subsidiary of Houghton Mifflin. Copyright was renewed in 1971 (probably newly added footnotes and what nots), and the first edition published under Mariner's name was 1999. My copy is the 9th reprint... Why, do I have a copy? To understand evil, you must know and come face to face with it. Plus I am a history buff. I also have Hitler vol 1 by Volker Ullrich. To further my understanding and the histories that took place.

More like 6 years ago. Don't like to do that too often, but sometimes beneficial, especially ones that nobody watched because it was from back when the channel only got a few thousand views per video or the like. -Daven

Today I Found Out ,right on. It’s crazy how time passes. I been watching since back then and I’ve been so happy to watch the channel and the other grow like unattended weeds. Like I said before, rereleases aren’t a bed thing especially when the content is as good as it is. Also, I didn’t think about it but doing so with a video that had very few views is pretty smart because as you said not many people saw it cause you weren’t a huge channel but the content was still awesome, so, yeah, it’s a good idea also because it give you more time to work on other projects. The copyright part just make good business since. Anyway, than you so much again for always giving us such wonderful content and with said content, your time and energy that comes along with it. Thank you, I really mean it, thanks. All that being said, take care, stay safe, and keep the awesomeness rolling out! Peace.

I am reading the book now. Or trying to. It is very boring. I keep falling asleep at page 19, out of 500 plus pages, where he talks about his school years. Apparently his father felt that he wasn't cut out for higher education, but that he should learn a trade instead.

Now I haven't read the book, but I think it's important for us to learn from the mistakes of the past, and as long as you're reading the book to be educated and not because you're behind the ideas I think it's perfectly fine. It could give us clues for things to look out for in the future. We also can't change the fact that the Holocaust and all of the atrocities happened, so not reading it isn't going to make anything better. We obviously all know now that he was an awful human and that the ideas and whatever he wrote about are super wrong, so again, as long as you're not trying to become Hitler 2.0 and you don't subscribe to the ideas, then all you're doing is learning. Plus it's not like the contents of the book are going to be much of a surprise.

Can you do a video on accents within former British colonies and how they evolved over time? Australia, Canada, India, and the US all have decidedly different accents but at some point, should have been common with the UK.
@sidecharactermoment3223
@sidecharactermoment3223 4 жыл бұрын
Only english accents in US, Canada and Australia (in this example) “evolved” though, because they were european settlers whose ancestors still constitute the majority of those countries. Whereas for India and other colonised countries (which the europeans didn’t settle in but eventually left), the accent didnt evolve, rather just meshed together with the way regional languages were spoken to have a completely new accent. Slightly different things but still both would be super interesting to learn about.
@dariusanderton3760
@dariusanderton3760 4 жыл бұрын
Well, I think the starting points for all these accents were not the same to begin with. Parts of Ontario and Manitoba (in Canada) initially had a lot of Scottish people partly because the climate was so cold and the Scottish were believed to be more suited to farming and trading in this area.. I think the Newfoundland and Maritimes area of Canada had a lot of Irish people and fishermen, and the Newfoundland accent today sounds a bit Irish to me. I think the New England area was initially settled by people from southern England . I think the Appalachian mountains area of he US was a lot of people from Ulster / Northern Ireland / the Scots-Irish. I think there were lots of people from Northern England who migrated to the US midwest and Canadian prairies in the mid and late 1800s and I am descended from this group. At the time of the 1840s potato famine the Irish Catholics seemed to prefer the US more than Canada, while Irish Protestants seemed to prefer Canada. The British who moved to India were perhaps more middle and upper class than the British who moved to other colonies, since they were there as administrators and military. Most of them left India eventually, but I'm sure this influenced the English spoken there. These are all generalizations but I have noticed this over the years. I'm making a complete guess that maybe the people who were sent to Australia were more likely to be urban poor (such as Cockneys) and Irish.

I had kept it and through the years I tried to reread the thing. I did get further than the first page, but not by much. I found the Crib notes for it, but it still doesn't make much sense. Course what did I expect from a certifiable nut. Just saying.

My grandma was a Nazi, and she was a genuinely evil human being. She died in the early 90s. Likely was poisoned. Nobody was sad, not even my mom. Turned out she left me a part of her life insurance policy. It was a decent amount. I'm buying a house with it, with the intent to make it a halfway house of sorts. I want to help some folks get back on their feet, and maybe find solace from stress and anxiety. It would piss my grandma off SO MUCH to know I was using the money to help others, instead of solely benefiting myself.

i want to send a message to all the families of the victims of this needless murder and racism: i am so deeply sorry for all that you've gone through. there was no need for this to happen. it's beyond words. we as a nation need to remember the words of the late, and great, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's famous I Have A Dream speech. all races, nationalities, different ethnic backgrounds are valuable and have meaning. the basic fundamental of all humans is that we all have the precious gift of life that God has given us and we need to honor God by not taking that which we did not own to begin with: the priceless gift of life, whether it's our own or another human beings. True, we come from different walks of life, different backgrounds, upbringings, etc... But, we all have the same blood coursing through our veins, we all have the Same heart beating in our chest to pump that same blood around our bodies. all people of all colours are all equal, all people matter and all people are created in the image of God and should be respected and valued as such, regardless of whether we disagree with them in one way or another. if we Must protest, let us do it Peacefully and without more violence. we will get much further as a nation if put our differences aside and learn how to solve problems with our hearts and intellects rather than with our anger or our fists. my heart is truly broken at the thought of everything going on right now. we already have a global pandemic going on, let's not add protests on top of it. with tears, i ask All people Everywhere to work as a team to find a solution to this social injustice. to all the people out there who are protesting, i ask you, tearfully, to PLEASE, Stop! please stop protesting, i know what happened was wrong, i know it hurts to see something So horrible and So tragic happen but, Please let us all come together as a united People and find a peaceful solution to this problem. it Is possible, it Can be done. at least this once, can we all do what Jesus said and: Love One Another? i really hope my words reach someone out there who will listen and start doing something to turn things in a positive direction. i know i'm only one person and amid the roars of chaos, one little voice of peace might not be heard all that clearly but, i honestly pray that it will reach someone in authority, like in the NFL or NHL who can do something about this. Everyone on KZbin, i ask you: if you agree with everything i've written here, will you please like this comment? i'm hoping that if these words of mine get enough likes that it will generate some kind of attention from someone in high places that can create some kind of positive change. So, if you will stand with me for peace, click like on this comment. Thanks.
