This explains why English/British coaches are generally poor. They are judging Foden based on current form. Saka is a better player. Foden is a good system player. Here is the non penalty g/a per 90 every year : 23/24 - Foden 0.77 / Saka 0.63 22/23 - Foden 0.78/ Saka 0.64 21/22 - Foden 0.59 / Saka 0.48 20/21 - Foden 0.78 / Saka 0.28 19/20 - Foden 0.70 / Saka 0.31 Obviously some of those early seasons with Saka he wasn't playing as a forward. But the numbers just illustrate how good Foden has been for 5 years now. People who don't watch football think this season is a purple patch for Foden but this is just his average level.

Let’s compare them to the very best and see how far they are from that level. Palmer and Foden are skillful, tricky, tekky, silky, technical, creative and tiki taka capable. Their close control, touches, dribbling skills, tiki taka pass, through pass, are magical. They can play like a Spanish midfielder, very close to the level of Iniesta, DavidSilva and KDB for the attributes I have mentioned. Now compare Saka to Ronaldinho, Figo, Neymar, or even Mahrez, Sane, Hleb, Sanchez or Nasri. Saka can’t do magical tricks or skill moves like them. He is not capable to come central to create, pass or combine like a silky number 10. I don’t think Saka is skillful or tekky enough when we are comparing him to those greats.
