Can confirm that the S60R and V70R are underrated from factory. Claimed 296hp/296tq crank but a lot of people have seen them put down over 280hp and even upwards of 360 tq to the wheels. There's also merit to these numbers as a bit of testing has been done after taking electronic speed limiter of 155mph off and a crazy german got a completely stock V70R up to 174mph on the autobahn.

@@GoodGains90 Likely not, the R variants were underrated from the factory for insurance reasons. They're about as expensive to insure as a bicycle with an airbag and a bubble-wrap suit.

@@GoodGains90 Okay bud. Believe whatever you want to believer, "stage 1" and "stage 2" don't exist for these cars, they're not a Subaru. A downpipe, catless exhaust, intercooler upgrade, and a tune and they put down 330-350 wheel which is about the most the bottom end can handle. They also don't have a 1:1 gear so whatever gear they dyno in has to be ratio'd for the power they make.

What Gavin doesn't know is that when the S60R was released, it was called "The Rich mans Evo". It has virtually the same 5cyl engine as in the Ford Focus RS and over here in Sweden, where the Volvo S60R comes from, not Belgium.. We have some seriously fast S60's.. 4-500hp S60's are more common than anything else here. Take care!

You can get a regular S60 T5 for dirt cheap, and do some mods to it. You can easily gain horsepower on those 2.5’s. Even with automatics, they’re fast. I have a stock 08 S60 T5, and it pulls hard. May not be fast for high speed, but the amount of torque it has is amazing. Every time the light turns green, I leave traffic behind 😂

Yeah totally, I have a Volvo V50 T5 2.5L fwd and it now has 280 hp with 400 tq. The tq ratio is really stunning in these 5 cyl 2.5's just in small upgrades your volvo can really pull these beemers with ease

Ya what’s funny is I think Volvo’s make the best sleeper cars cuz no one ever suspects or expects the Volvo.. I have an XC70 3.2L that I don’t only software tuning for engine to that pulls around 320 HP now and it’s genuinely kinda awesome.. I fitted a wheel with paddles on it and replaced the shifter with a newer model shifter from an 2014 S60 R design and wired paddles into it and it just hauls ass! its soo good for pulling people. I also have an XC70 with T6 engine and polestar tuned that for over 400HP and it really goes its my daily driver.. love my wagons

Volvo S60R's are usually cheap from what I've seen because they are beaten on and poorly maintained, they just aren't as reliable as a 2.4L N/A S60. It's sad because i see so many Volvo's that are poorly maintained, they will still last a long time but they could have lasted so much longer

Really wish I had a V70R, but they are really rare to find in Sweden, and the ones for sale are often priced around $10k.. Ill stick to my 05 V70 for now, gonna get a chiptune on it next week so will up it from 140hp to 188hp, atleast a bit more xD

since they are turbo from factory, throwing on a better one isnt hard, and with some supporting mods they can easily go over 400 at the wheel. probably would want to beef up the bottom end if you want to go much higher than that though

Love my Volvo. It doesnt cost much or hard work to make it fast. With a bigger turbo, intercooler, down pipe, and tune. I'm pushing near 360hp n torque now. I couldnt afford to do alot to it when I lived Florida. Now I live in WV. it's easy to buy toys for the best car I've ever owned.

A spark plug has backed out and was letting compression out. We fixed it and that’s why I wanted to race , then after a couple of runs it started a dead misfire on a different cylinder. When the car runs good like it’s supposed to , I usually put a half of a car to a full car length on Harry’s EcoBoost.

Guys don’t know anything about the R. It was $40k new, not 60. They all came with Brembos. The Nordkapp blue interior was not rare. It was the standard. The rare color is Atacama (Orange). They also offered a Gobi (tan) color. But Nordkapp (blue) was the most common.

You can get 500 hp from that engine with quite easy mods. Here in sweden most young owners have around 600 hp. And if you want to go all in you can get 1100 hp.
