The swell dropped, the weather dropped and I had a surprise delivery of sandeels! Only one thing for it... an after work fishing session on Southbourne Beach! I took the time to discuss the reasons behind a few of my successful tactics, which will hopefully help you catch more fish this year!

Happy belated birthday, Mrs fishy Tom from the shores of Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. The last time I was in Poole was in 1990, when I won the most fish in one day and most fish over the two days of the NFSA home 2 day boat festival. 35 years ago, time sure flies when you're a fisherman. I was a young mid 30's back then. I still fish, I've got a nice Defiance purpose built tuna boat that has had some nice tuna and halibut on its deck. Alot of rockfish, and this time of the year, Dungeness crab . Very similar to brown crab but sweeter. Anyway, great video as always. Its pretty cold here as well.

I'm still yet to hook into a tuna, or a halibut for that matter! I really must change that!

Hello mate. Thank you as always for the wondeful positive comment. Firstly, shockleaders, yes! I would say they are essential for 99% of beach fishing. Crab is tough, as I just don't know how many I'll be getting this season. The last few seasons were pretty poor really, so numbers weren't great which, yet again, pushed the price up! Fingers crossed I'll have a good run at some point and I can get some out to you.

Thank mate. I use a 1150 lumen Core floodlight. Seems to work well. I run it on the lower setting and last long enough for most sessions. I have a spare in the box and a battery pack plus cabels should i need.
