I think people acknowledge Francesca is not great at all? they just like her as a character and you do get her as a very early healer. that combo attack (is that what they're called... I haven't played in a few months and forgot :/) that fully heals the party is excellent but not worth carrying her long-term for. her HP is just sooo low

Good stuff. I agree that being able to equip the pinnacle runes shoots a character to high tier but the true damage gods (tiers) are the ones that can equip both pinnacle and path runes at the same time (Planet's rejection can cover survivability). Hence why I believe Wayve, Electra, Lian and Celia are the more optimal damage dealers by end game (Yume and Chandra can equip both also but they are two slotters). Iugo and Lam are indeed godly til that point though. Sadly there is only 1 path rune of each type per playthrough but you can collect more in NG+. Dijkstra should really be towards the tiptop also as his unique buff on a physical heavy team is a powerful multiplier that nobody else can replicate. For an optimal team I believe he is a must. If I were to to really try and min/max I believe the optimal team is Electra, Leene, Nowa (MC has to be in), Momo, Dijkstra and a strong mage supporter such as Isha or Lakian. Yup, Lakian. He is a strong support mage with high tier stats all around that benefits from Dijkstra attack buff as his unique rune and normal attacks are physical.

I would add Nowa to the list of optimal damage dealers by end game because he can equip the warrior's pinnacle and path runes.

This is a very comprehensive video and really summarizes the strength/weakness of all characters. I played more than 160hrs mostly in combats, Mio is my favorite and I keep her all the time enjoying her massive destructive attacks reaching 3300 damage - Best single target character. Lian is also very strong! I equipped all equipable characters with the warrior pinnacle, Lian easy +2000 damage with her rune attack. The nice part of the game is that you can experiment so many things and variations, and the sad part is you can’t improve the characters enough if they don’t have the rune slots. I hate the characters with equal attack/magic stats! The other negative part is that this game is attack oriented, rarely magic use due to the MP cost and the 90MP fuel ⛽️ I use magic for healing and in case of some boss fights in early/mid game mostly. Reyna, Nowa, Mio, Isha, Dijkstra and any other than Momo or Leene makes sense to me (overpowered just crazy, no boss can withstand anything against them). Interesting game with the customization, I wish the stats are clearly explained. DEX/Luck, DEX vs Attack, Crit/Stun, Rings (Slightly, Moderately, Greatly), I had to spend hours trying to see the logic and benefits.

@ I believe Nowa, Reyna, Mio, Isha, Dijkstra, Momo and Leene are the best. For enjoyment purposes, I’d stick to the first five, and add one more character other than Momo/Leene. Nowa/Reyna/Mio front, Isha/Dijkstra/+1 back. That’s for me personally, others would add Momo/Leene in the mix.

I've yet to properly get into this game yet but the vast amount of characters has me kind of intimidated but I guess it's the same deal with pokemon try them all and get a feel for your play style. Thanks for the guide will reference when the time comes.

I have about 65 hours of this game at this point I'm pretty much far but I'm gonna try to not watch the majority of this video especially if the later half is gonna have a bunch of characters that's gonna make me go oh I don't have this person yet so I'm just gonna hold off on watching this all the way until I get every single character to get the true ending. Really though the only thing that does suck is the fact that trying to get every single character and make sure that you remember where to get them is something I kind of wish the game did better and like I know it's trying to harken back to the old days but the fear of losing a character and then having to go through the ending only to realize that you didn't get every single character is something that I wish this game did a little bit better and not to mention some of the requirements could have been a bit more clear. Still a fun and solid game and ironic that you made this list and we just got an update for near the end of this month...... That being said Francesca is god tier due to her being the only healer who acts like a sweetheart 1 minute then becomes a tough as nail's woman and then back to being a sweetheart the next lol.

1000000% agreed on Francesca. Her combo with Falward is good, but it requires taking 2 slots filled with 2 average mages. Also, FINALLY, somebody recognizes that Isha is better than most other mages (I still took Markus because he looks cool). Slightly disagree on Lakian. He doesn't need a lot of rune slots because he's very good at one thing: enchantments. Don't treat him as a mage, give him a wind enchantment rune and watch his arrows fly. That's what his stats are built around. He's only average when he doesn't have an enchantment (preferably wind) augmenting his attacks. The only thing that holds him back from top tier is he can't equip pinnacle or path runes.

Lakian can equip path *or* pinnacle runes. He just can’t equip both at once (last rune is a 4 slot all). Haven’t really bothered with the “enchantment” spells, so can’t say much about that, but he’s tied for 2nd highest attack and magic in the game and has 2 status rune slots. I’m using the 4 slot for the rune of pure water, and he’s proving to be a fantastic healer. Decent speed, decent mp, and turn 1 he does good damage even without pinnacle. Not the best at the role, but he frees up the better candidates to use inferno pillar or auto attacks. He hasn’t left the team since his recruitment.

Field wise Feri is top teir because of being ranged. Command battle, everyone has been pretty useful so far, since the abilities all seem pretty damn similar to each other unlike past Trails games.

Also I didn’t pick this game up, it seemed to have a lot of poor mechanics that could’ve been fixed with very simple and common QoL and most of the opinions were tepid at best, so what are your thoughts on the game after finishing it? Also also, greedy comment I know, I’ve seen a different list way back when based on hard mode where the dude says magic was basically a no go cause of extreme high mp costs, if you played in hard mode do you think your list would change a lot? @@fd5934 I love Yu Yu Hakusho so much. I liked it. It feels like a newer Suikoden. Most the crappy minigames and mechanics can just be ignored…other than Bagoma. Mages MP is a problem but the damage Momo gives out is 3x any physical attacker, so it balances out. Overall I liked it. It met my expectations so that’s all I can ask for haha.

Reyna is really not a necessary character to have in your party, and probably a waste of a slot. I would not put her in top tier, because in Eiyuden, a great offense is miles better than a great defense, considering that with the right builds, you can destroy most bosses in 2 or 3 turns anyway. And all trash mobs should die in 1 turn before they can attack with Leene in the party. Also, Djikstra (spelling?) makes for a pretty decent support tank already if you put him at the front of the party since he shouldn't do anything else but roar anyway. Just load him up with defensive runes and a firefly rune (attract aggro) and he can do 75% of what Reyna can do tank-wise, which is more than enough in this game. The true saving grace for Reyna is during the war battles. Her defense special skill and her ability to use cavalry for the extra movement can be pretty useful in that regard.

Gigina power was not about his stats. He is low defense yes but beauty about him was the fact his speed was perfect for revival and healing with items and his attacks with right items had great chance to stun enemies for a turn so against some bosses he literally made them not attack single time. Foxiel is top tier for me not as a fighter but if you make her into a healer mage.

two slot characters are nice to use when grinding xp as they make it so xp is divided out to one less character every battle. Their certainly not as good as 2 characters, but they are always better than one.

I'd put Yume mid tier, she's a high single target damage dealer if you equip the SP charge rune with the friend attack she hits hard often, great tank as well with high go and defense. The only downfall is taking two character slots. Prunella is shit tier for me, she does no damage even with her high strength, weird character. Yusuke while great early on, drops off big towards the later half of the game and gets overshadowed badly, for a one dimensional fighter he's a mediocre attacker. Charge up doesn't really save him, bc Galdor and the two sharks do it much better. I'd put him in the low tier. Yuferius and Scarlet used together is high tier for me, their charge up ability boosts their attack and charges SP for their Shark Attack hero combo which hits for great damage on a single target, they both have high HP and defense. Markus is the most versatile mage, he can equip a level 4 magic rune and 2 level 3's along with Mage's Pinnacle, he's a strong mage and is also a good attacker, I consider him high tier. Just my differing thoughts on this list.

Pohl is my favorite character, but I'm not surprised to see him in low tier. He's not very good, but he still never leaves my party if I can help it. I'm just glad he avoided the sh!t tier! xD I do kinda disagree on Francesca and Falward. She's one of the worst characters in the game as far as I'm concerned (she's super squishy, and so slow that she's very likely to die before her turn), but Falward is actually pretty good. I used him as my healer for my entire playthrough, and he was great at keeping my party healthy, even without their unite.
