I love these sorts of signings like Sekou Kone this summer too. Convinced that this approach will pay off in the long term with building a proper squad at United and the risk/reward is absolutely worth the investment if they pay off. Lets see what happens with Diego Leon and whether it develops more but he's an absolute unit that's for sure. United are prioritising physicality.
@seanjagdeo800510 сағат бұрын
Excellent footwork. His awareness is very good for his age. Glad to see United investing in youth. I think this is the best way to go for this club. Forget big money super star signings. Grind a little bit for a couple of seasons and develop young players.

Focusing on young talent like Diego Leon from Paraguay shows a smart and forward-thinking approach by Manchester United. Building a team isn’t just about spending big; it’s about identifying players with potential who can grow and contribute to the club’s future. This strategy creates a stronger foundation and avoids the chaos that often comes with reckless, high-cost transfers. True success comes from balance-combining experienced leaders with young, hungry players who fit the club’s long-term vision. It’s not just about what a player can do now but what they can become with the right coaching and environment. If United stays patient and strategic, this approach could bring lasting success, not just quick fixes.

He's also a workhorse. Stamina seems extremely high. And that's exactly what United needs in their ranks. He reminds me of Valverde.
@thedumbprogrammer1235 сағат бұрын
I agree. Only issue is will he be poisoned by the lazy/ dysfunctional and unserious culture at man u. I think a big single clear out is needed because as a new player comes in and starts getting poisoned by the old players, even if the old players are being culled, enough of them stay and pass on the shitty culture to the next generation and so the cycle continues. Thoughts?

I mean this is nice and all but until the first team gets sorted out I don't really care that much about these developmental signings, because as we've seen over the last decade they're going to get thrown into the deep end too early because the first 11 is riddle with holes. As we've shown time and time again with a dozen or more young talented players we awful at developing these young men into starters or stars at the senior level. As much as it's nice to see the team invest in academy signings until the first team is sorted out, so that young players aren't being rushed through, and we can establish a semblance of a winning culture then I don't see these types of signings ever really amounting to much change in the on field performances we see from the team.
