Great show. I'm really looking forward to seeing good hard nose football. Have watched a lot of FCS/ BIG Sky football over the last few years on espn+ lots of down hill hard nose football with kid that really want to play the game. Looks like a great hire

Great hire! With the way all football being played! We need a defense minded coach first! Nobody plays defense.anymore. if he runs a pro -;style offense , run 2 backs espically in the red zone scores touchdown! We need to be more physically etc etc. And he needs to win in late oct/ november? If he wins the people will fill up martin stadium ! Been a coug fan for 50 years! Looking.forward to see what he does on both offense / and defense! Again a good hire

Jimmy already recruited the guys to run that style of offense at SDSU. If he can do it at a way worse school to get recruits, then he can do it at a power conference school.

I see us WSU Cougs with Jimmy Roger's a win able season! Rather than a rebuild season!!! And hopefully he's a Huskies killer coach!!!

We need to get back to discipline and hard nose football. True we will never be able to recruit big SEC/B1G size but there is no reason we can’t recruit and coach players with adequate skills that can play above themselves in terms of toughness.

Also with him coming from a smaller school sds! Iam sure he and his staff will recruit the northwest at football 2a 3a 4a local high school levels! We have some good high school teams and players in this state! Some like royal high school nationally know espically the long time coach . These are players that live here and some maybe could play for wsu! I believe he will do.a find job of getting players, that fit.his program and want.to play and stay here! Their are a lot jimmy rogers type of.players in washington/ idaho.oregon / california espically.no.cal! ..go cougs looking forward to next season.

SDSU eould have beaten WAZUU 5 out of the last 10 years guaranteed. Jimmy has won nattys. To be pissed at that hire shows the general lack of awareness and football acumen it takes to realize what it takes to win a championship. Air raid doesnt woek. Never has and never will. Just ask Oregon... Wazzu just brought in a coach who won back-to-back nattys and sent high quantity players to the NFL from an FCS program. Hes bringing that same thing to Wazzu and people are mad? 😂😂 The ONLY thing standing in Jimmy's way of PAC championships is the fact that Fresno State hired a former NDSU HC...I guarantee thise 2 will be battling for the PAC championship most years once they get a year or 2 under their belts...

If anyone thinks the WSU is going to out-recruit other schools for power football running backs, and power football offensive lineman, then I hope you’re ready for another Paul Wulff era. One reason Mike Price ran a passing offense, as well as Erickson, Doba, and Leach is because receivers, offensive lineman suited to passing offenses, and even quarterbacks are more plentiful in recruiting than the Big Ten SEC style power guys.

I agree with you! We are always going to get the same type of players we have always got! We can still run the air/ coug / whatever raid offense! But we need to be more physical espically in the red zone! The air/coug / raid offensive one back that price/ erickson ran the basketball on turf ! Always had problems in the red zone ! Thats why we need to be more physical in the red zone and we have always had those type of players! Dr dan doornick/ jermore harrison/ kerry porter/ even going way back to bernard jackson. Put a big guy fullback in front of them and score in the red zone! That was the problem that dickert teams had a problem in the red zone ! Not being physical! Wullf who was a offense linemen with the cougs couldnt recruit anybody! He was out over his ski's from day one! Rogers will do a good job

Out-recruit, no. Out-develop is what successful coaches at WSU have done. Mike Price recruited and developed the "Palouse Posse" which included multiple NFL-caliber defensive linemen. If you can do that, you can do it with the offensive line at WSU too. Those linemen suited to pass-block could have also been developed as better-rounded run or pass-blocking linemen. If you throw on every down like Leach, how are you going to develop that? Though Mike Price ran a spread offense, his teams were balanced between running and passing. His 1997 Rose Bowl club, featuring Ryan Leaf at quarterback and ranked 9th in the country, rushed for 144 yards per game. Michael Black averaged 5 yards a carry. His 2002 Rose Bowl Team ran for 129 yards per game. Do not tell me you can't run the ball at WSU. That's just self-defeating.

@@ClarkKent-d9v He was great at finding under-recruited guys, especially on defense but on offense too. That was also a time before video was easily avail on the internet, so it was tougher to find diamonds in the rough. Also, there was no NIL back then so unfortunately any comparison of the old days to the nowdays in a positive way is a tough comparison to make.
