On Friday 17 November, Joseph Boakai became Liberia’s new leader after his rival and sitting President George Weah conceded a tight election. This marks a peaceful transfer of power in a region that has recently seen many military coups.
Joseph Boakai portrays himself as a simple man who rose from humble origins through hard work. According to his official website, against the odds he secured a good education by working as a cleaner to pay his fees.

Africa has a lot of problems, one of which is people who for personal glories insist on taking political office when everything shows that they are out to achieve nothing. This new Liberian President is almost eighty years of age, and had been in politics for a long time holding important political positions, but he had not been able to culture, or cultivate or identity an able bodied man in the whole of Liberia that can, at this sensitive period in the life of that nation take on the immense task of building that country and salvaging it from all forms of destructions both natural and man made. It is certainly beyond the capability of a man of his age, but they don't care about the country, they care about their selfish ego and the prestige it gives them to be called President of a nation. These people don't love their country, they are not patriots, and those who put them forward for this position are thieves who want pliable fronts for stealing the resources of that country. Liberian youths must rise up against those who give them this. It will never work.

@@georgejosiah8030 A President is not a king. He is an executive. Coherence in speech and walking without walking stick is not all it takes to be an executive President. In addition to long hours of work and attention to a lot of routine matters covering the whole country including external and internal security he requires a sharp memory which he cannot boast of after Seventy. He must be able to take quick decisions at all times, and be able to stand a lot of stress which he cannot do now. He has to take long rests at eighty and there are certainly major health issues that go with that age which he cannot avoid even if they are not apparent to the public but which he is aware of and which will seriously affect his performance. The result of all these is a president that is not fully in control of the country and is relying on dubious advisers and kitchen cabinets who are ready to make him a cover to steal and achieve nothing. Nobody would blame them, they would only blame the President.

Few points: - 4.8 % of growth in 2022 under Weah for country like Liberia starting from zero ground is really nothing (actually a bad news), should be at least 10 % just for the mere fact Ebola and Covid+global lockdowns both ended - Weah regime was obviously corrupt, but by all statistics not more than the previous Johnson-Sirleaf regime (and I not indicating the lady herself, there were huge improvement from the time of Taylor, Doe and wars), which surprised me a lot Honestly I had no hopes and only the worst expectations when he was elected given the fact, he two times was not much willing to accept Johnson-Sirleaf victory and alleged a fraud + he has no public service experience + it became public, he was in fact supported by Charles Taylor from his prison. I am happy, that he is booted out and Boakai elected. I also fully understand, why Liberians were fed up after 12 years of Johnson-Sirleaf and Boakai regime and wanted change and liked Weah story and felt Boakai was too weak. I expected the results in 2017 yet I was still sad. I am not surprised by slow economical growth, incompetence or corruption of Weah regime. I am fact very positively surprised, it brought only stagnation to the country but not any decline + the transfer of power is so smooth and peaceful. Well managed and for me over my low expectations. Wish all the best to Liberia, it really deserves it.

This shows Liberia civilised than Nigerians, George Weah is younger than Peter Obi but conceded defeat and no riot no strike, Ibo will never rule Nigeria in this generation until you people change your ways of doing things. Editor of Africa Biographics please get your facts right. Joseph Boakai doesn't have any "propensity" to sleep. He was given that nickname becuz he Airways appears to be sleeping in photos when in fact he isn't.
