If you've never seen the show Raised By Wolves, it's a science fiction show that takes place in a universe where Mithra worship overcame Christianity as the dominant religion. It deals with prophecy and faith and a futuristic version of the founding of Rome. Give it a watch if you get a chance!

@@AmorFati99 Sometimes you have to be grateful for what you get. One of my favorite shows, Quantum Leap, didn't get a final season or episode, but after I read the pitch for the last season and saw how they wanted to set up a cliffhanger, we were blessed the show went out the way it did.

@@Tony4You I'd strongly recommend it. It also goes to some really batshit bizarre (but in a wonderful way) places that make the weirdest parts of Lost look tame by comparison, and unlike that show has so many of the clues to the answers that are given in the many crazy plot twists hidden in plain sight right from the beginning. It was (and still is) in the top 1% of all shows across all networks, and wasn't even that expensive, but was cancelled (along with several billion dollars in content from other shows and franchises) due to questionable business decisions of a certain David Zaslav following the merger of Warner Bros and Discovery. Apparently Amazon and Peacock at the very least were interested in picking it up and finishing it. Hopefully they at least do a comics continuation someday like what they did with Firefly, or maybe even an animated continuation. #RenewRaisedbyWolves

@@100Servings Raised by Wolves is quite different in that not only are its story and all of the weirdly fascinating lore underlying it pre-planned, but what can be deduced from all of the clues to things that haven't yet been answered is beyond awesome (and that's just the parts that can be deduced, and not the even crazier things those imply). That being said, I'm still amazed and delighted that the show exists at all, even if its incomplete; I just really hope that the story gets finished somehow and/or all of the answers given (and the really emotionally deep journey of the characters resolved). Apparently there's been talk of continuing it in comics form like Firefly; hopefully that at least pans out.

Another great video Tony! I just love how much I learn about the figures in SMT and Person other than the short paragraph provided. Given I've studied Greek and Norse myth, it's awesome to learn about the other cultures. It's especially surprising to find a cult that's gone from Italy to England, leaving such little trace behind. I guess it was a little easier without forensic science or technology able to scan every little thing for clues, but still.

Did you know that soldiers stationed in the middle east force camel spiders out of their holes in the sand and make them cage fight each other? But all they want to do is be inside of something. Preferably their hole, but settle for anything, and inside of the opponent spider is usually the immediate goal. And to think that there are many other religions and beliefs out there that we know nothing about simply due to the passage of time. Still, I'm curious as to why they would choose to live in secrecy yet they were able to create these underground structures and gorgeus statues. SMT-wise, Mithras definitely left an impression on me especially in Strange Journey. Both he and his allies were committing unspeakable acts to test the limits of the human body, leaving only Zelenin as the survivor of her expidition crew.

I wonder if the idea of Devah in SCP Foundation was inspired by this. It was like Mithrasism; however, it was a whole civilization instead of a religion. It did have its own religion, which morbid and disturbing. How much? It makes some of the disturbing practices by the Aztecs and Mayans look kid-friendly by comparison. It suddenly died out being utterly destroyed during certain historical events. However, what historical event keeps getting closer to modern day whenever new entries are added to a book that seems to rewrite history.

Mithras is a Sanskrit word meaning friend to all. Its used as one of the epithets for the sun god. He is still worshipped in india as mithras, but mostly as surya. The sun god is worshipped in all ancient cultures across the world including america. 25th of December was celebrated as the day of the sun god in europe, later changed to Jesus's birth day by Christian missionaries.

I have a theory that christianity took of in rome so well is that its similar to a roman suicide/death ritual called devotio (yes i named my channel after it) where a general would absorb the guilt of the soldiers under his rank offer his life to the gods of the underworld (and Janus fir some reason I don't understand) and charge into battle alone to take the guilt to the grave with him. Theres only three accounts of this ever actually being done but it seems like it was romanticized a lot. I don't think that Christianity copyed this btw I just think its coincidentally similar.
