To answer your question at the very beginning of the movie. YES it is Canon. There will be alot of people saying it's not. However nine is directly referenced in chapter 221 of the manga. Also in season 5 episode 12 of the anime there is a conversation that is very easily missed between Aizawa and Principal Nezu( midway in the episode). Nezu asks Aizawa about the safety commissions "other" program. That program is this movie, sending class A to the island. Edit: my apologies it's chapter 222 where nine is referenced

I love how people are like, "You should totally watch this movie immediately after S4" but the movie pretty much spoils all of the cool quirk reveals in the 1-A Vs 1-B arc. And an arc that happens later in S5. Just because this movie was released during S4 doesn't mean it takes place during S4. Because of the arc shuffle for this Season(two arcs were flipped), this movie should actually be watched after you completed S5.

To the question if this is canon, well the manga have a silhouette of Nine in one of the chapters. Well to the placing of the movie in the timeline is, Season 1 Season 2 -Movie 1: Two Heroes Season 3 Season 4 First 13 episodes of Season 5 - Movie 2: Heroes Rising Second set of 12 episodes of Season 5 - Movie 3: World Heroes Mission. Well if I'm including several OVA's but this comment will be lengthy. So there is -OVA after what happened in USJ. -OVA where featured some of Tsuyu's backstory and some students from other schools. -2 episode OVA where the students have some survival training. -Short OVA which is happened before the Two Heroes Movie. -Another short OVA which is happened before the World Heroes Mission Movie.

I think watching this movie after the Class 1-A and 1-B competition arc is probably best. Technically speaking, there is an arc at the end of Season 5 that takes place months ago chronologically speaking (maybe before the festival arc in Season 4). But if I were to classify when this film takes place it would be around now. You can see that Endeavor has made his recovery, the students are using special moves that they used against Class 1-B, and there's snow on UA Premises, suggesting it's in the winter.

I didn't expect you to watch the movie so soon. It takes place after the events of season 5 episode 24, though you might as well watch 25 if you are doing it to avoid spoilers. The third movie, World Heroes, takes place after the events of season 5 episode 18.

Actually the movie takes place earlier than that, otherwise Deku would straight up know about Blackwhip and also -use- the darn thing. It's a bit nebulous about it's timing in terms of canon but it's pretty much somewhere between Joint Training and Endeavour Agency.

For once this is an open opportunity for the villain to attack. Unlike with the festivals it will be off the UA main campus and they don't have a bunch of pros working security. The League attacked UA once, just once, and that was an annex with only two pros that they would be able to isolate from the rest of the school and that ended badly. As soon as the rest of the teachers showed up they booked it, with only two members getting away. They hadn't attacked the school since. The next attack was at the training camp, with six pros and twice as many students, but it was also remote enough that they wouldn't be able to call in backup. After that the League mostly stuck to small targets, battles that were over quickly in public areas. Even attacking Endeavor didn't go as planned. It would be bad if the League attacked the island, but they would have to know about it and have a way to get there and they have lost their patron.

The island is named after Amidala (and Jar Jar) 's home planet because the manga writer is a Star Wars nerd The Doctor was All For One's henchman we see more of him in late season 5 things would make a tiny bit more sense if you had waited for season 5 to end but no big deal

Uh, that’s changed in the last year or so, Horikoshi has been making things canon, I believe there’s a Fandom list now on what’s Canon now, but I’m not too sure if it’s been released yet, personally not too fond of certain things that have been made canon, like the ending of this movie for example, we actually need a proper explanation now

Ofa going back to deku because a simple explanation for that is that the predecessors alive in ofa chose to stay with deku (which would show why all might was thanking nana in that moment), or bakugo forgetting which I find stupid and agree could use an explanation

@@NickEclipse I feel like the only thing that would make this movie dicey is bakugo forgetting about having ofa since the only other thing I can think of (apart from not having a huge effect on the main story) would be ofa going back to deku, which could be explained as the predecessors simply choosing to stay with deku Manga spoilers if you haven't read it: The manga shows shigaraki talking about nine and supports my idea that the predecessors chose to stay with deku from an event where afo tried to take ofa and the predecessors showed up and were like "no. We choose to stay with him."
