"Ah" is not her name. In Khmer, "Ah" is usually added to the beginning of a name to informalize it. And "Ah" is usually used by someone older than the person with the name. So her first name is actually Polin--Not Ah Lin. "Lin" is her shortened name and "Ah" is sort of a title.
