Yeah same, I started collecting late and had to buy figures like Ram Man, Fisto and Jitsu at silly prices but so glad I got them. I love the grown up look to them and can inspire them being in a darker cartoon version of the 80s cartoon.

Don’t feel too bad, they weren’t the easiest figures to get a hold of, what with joining subscription plans, or those individual figures you really wanted, selling out in seconds on their matty collector site. Some were a pain to get

Same, I've jumped at the chance to collect Origins because of that, and I've gotten ahold of Origins versions of all 8 original figures, which reminds me of getting all 7 Barraki when I was a little kid.

As an avid player of D&D, the first time I saw Ram Man with his blocky stature, thick corded muscles, heavy armor and wielding an ax....aside from the lack of a beard he just screamed, "Dwarf Fighter" to me. As I got older and more into comics I could definitely see a Juggernaut aspect to the character as well, which played well with the 200X line that beefed him up into a larger version.
@farrisward22112 жыл бұрын
I look forward to these videos in my late 30's like I did the classic cartoon as a kid! I always wanted to see Ram Man get the power of the Ram Stone from 200X for a power up. I'm looking forward to more videos about obscure characters like Tug O' War, Rotar, etc.

Great video! Thank you! Ram Man is easily one of my favourite characters and MOTUC figures. I know they were going off the original Cross-Sell art, but I can't shake the feeling that whoever sculpted his helmetless head made him resemble Rondo Hatton, the "Brute Man" of Film Noir fame.

I really love that Ram Man keeps getting love in every MOTU iteration so far. Dude is just such a fun, odd character you just have to love him. I personally prefer him as a dwarf for storytelling reasons but at the same time it doesn't bother me when I see him portrayed as closer to normal height and just a really thick guy.

I LOVE that Classics Ram Man is not a dwarf. Him being a giant in 200X is one of my favorite aspects of him. But I don't like that he essentially has chronic post-concussion syndrome. In the version of MOTU that exists solely in my imagination, he enjoys history, gardening, and is home boys with Moss Man. :) And since you mentioned Disco Skeletor...man, I really wish he could have snuck out in Classics somehow.

Prince Adam keeps being released as an accessory for other characters / items. First with Orko in Classics then the Sky Sled in Origins (stupid decision to add a main character with a small army building vehicle in my opinion). I'm not sure why you're surprised they'd keep using the "real" names you created in classics, they've become part of the lore that people use (unless you're Kevin Smith then the lore goes out the window).

The economic and technical reasons never occurred to me as a kid, but I looked at OG Ram Man, saw that he had no neck articulation and thought, "Oh, that's so he doesn't hurt his neck." So the way 200x had his helmet separate from his shoulder armor always seemed wrong to me.

"Ramming Speed". Please don't hate my correction, it comes from love. Just like Man-E-Faces I felt He-Man's "second" line up of reinforcements really went out of the box in design. Ram Man gets picked on for his vintage version, but I know every kid had a Ram Man if they collected MotU and used the toy just like it was designed, barreling over baddies.
@MoCa1979Jr2 жыл бұрын
I remember getting the vintage Ram Man as a kid & recall thinking how heavy he was. I prefer the 200X version of him being the "hulking muscle man" of the team (even making him less intelligent was also a nice touch). MOTUC was a great upgrade to the vintage & 200X versions. He's got more of a Ben Grimm (Thing) build, being tall, but not too tall, making up for it by making him exceptionally bulking. It'd be interesting to see more character that are created re-using his mold. The concept for "Hammer Holder" is quite intriguing , but I think he should also have a "gimmick" like Fisto. Give him a metal gauntlet (which won't be confused for a "metal hand", because it would be "regular" sized--like the vintage PoP Bow fig.), that can transform into a hammer (so he'll have dual weapons). I always thought "krass" was just a typo for "Krash" (aka "Crash") when I got my MOTUC fig. 🤣But I guess it was so good that the name is now canonized. Congrats. 👍

I always liked the RAm Man toy growing up as could make it do the thing though I don't think I chipped the paint or rammed it into things. I could tell he was different from the others He-Man toys who were like my AWA Wrestlers. Its funny even somebody called Ram Man they will try to make Female hehe. I guess when Beast Man came he took a bit too much bris turning into Sis hehe. I thought he was supposed to be like Asian when I saw the head sculpting. Faker is my favorite though he had to be the most memorable from the line for his unique build and mechanism.

I have been wondering what you thought about the Ram Mam character. Been wondering if she was supposed to be Ram Man's daughter, what with the whole "my helmet is the only thing I have left of my father" thing. But if that was also supposed to be Ram Man's name, then I suppose it puts that theory to rest.

Ram Man was one of the few outright masterpieces in the Classics line joining the ranks of Modulok, Merman, Teela, and Kobra Kahn; there are a few others. Ram Man is such a iconic and brilliantly designed character. It's also funny because I was always up for the orange card back repaint but I was never dying to get it. I actually bought 2 of the Super 7 orange Ram Mans. One to keep mint on card and one to display. I *love* the orange version. He's one of my absolute favorite figures in the line. I don't know why but the orange version really hits the nostalgia buttons.

Ram Man isn't wearing a kippah, it's a a cervallier, the under-helmet helmet prominent in the High Middle Ages. Which fits Ram Man, if you're gonna use your head to bash through everything you're going to want some extra protection. Not that Ram Man couldn't be Jewish, though how Judaism got to Eternia before Queen Marlena is anyone's guess.

Would it have been too expensive, or too fragile, or whatever to do a replacement leg gimmick? Full legs for 200X, swap to "short" legs for something similar to Filmation or the "loaded" version of the toy. Honestly, that seemed a better gimmick extra to me than a helmet-less head.

With all the reused parts, did any company ever consider just creating tools for a bunch of parts, running them and then boxing them up to sell to collectors and fan artists as "create-a-figure(s)" kits? Done properly, it seems like a potential way to justify making tools for more "specialty" parts (heads, other limbs and bodies used for only one or two figures) as well as getting a bit more use out of more generic body parts. I'm guessing there just wouldn't be enough of a market to justify the extra work involved.
@AintNobodyAtAll2 жыл бұрын
Mythic Legions KINDA does this. They have their regular figures, and then they have cost-reduced "legion builders" which have less paint and details. You can buy a bunch of different builders to mix and match parts. They've done deluxe builders with additional torsos and armor so you can swap things around.

Do you think Ram Man is a descendent of the people of Zalesia? You know, the culture that, if their ruins are any indication, worshiped a great big Ram. Said ruins being the home of the Ram Stone, a mystical artifact that summoned Bash-Or, a ram shaped God who's whole schtick is crashing into and through stuff.
