Her bio honestly just explains so well why the parts of the book that were just raw gut punches to my personal emotional stability happened cause the only thing that I knew about the author from reading the book is that she grew up chubby in purity culture.

Okay, after watching the livestream literally twice and after watching 23:55 minutes of this video, at this point is confirmation that Rainbow Rowell wrote this book and now knowing this makes me want to rewatch that livestream again for the 3rd time in a row because that was one of the most funniest things I've ever seen in my entire life and good to know that this book isn't pout pout fish fanfiction 😂 (But I'm still confused why Rainbow Rowell decided to publish this anonymous? Like, I dunno, she already wrote a gay trilogy, it's not like her normal audience I feel like is gonna attack her??? Because it's not like she's a conservative author with a fanbase that's also conservative where she would've needed to do that. Like I think you're 100% correct that it was done for *publicity* than anything else!)

Ngl as you were describing the weird stuff in Corrine it did sound like Rainbow Rowell to me. To be fair I’ve only read one of her books but the things you said are SO specific to weird stuff in Eleanor and Park. There’s no way it’s Meyer. Her writing is so confusing to follow and Rowell’s is much simpler like Corrine seems to be.

This book definitely takes place in the casserole belt of the US and is full of nostalgic casseroles. But I will say your review is spot on. In the way of “did you crawl in my head?” The repetitiveness was so bothersome. And the descriptions of his body also didn’t allow for a visual in one’s mind. It doesn’t make sense. The worst part in the end for me? Book jacket quotes from Picoult and Irby make me angry. It’s like they (or their people) read another book and the publishers used them for this book as they don’t make sense. “Ripped my heart out”? Why? Because it was so bad ultimately that it killed your love of reading?

Makes sense, miss detective 🕵‍♀️. Now for the important questions...are you more into ascots or knee socks? 😉 I didn't realize Meyers and Rowell are BFF's-although they both write very poorly so it does make sense. Especially, her thinking the Edward/Bella romance was romantic. I mean there was better romantic tension and build up between Bella and Alice. An author's writing style doesn't lie. 🤷‍♀️ Also, Romeo and Juliette not really a Romance. 😏 Yeah, I get it. It has some flowery poems, but they BOTH die as teens. 🤨 Yeah, super romantic. 🤦‍♀️ Not going to read it. Rowell got me once with Attachments...yeah, not going to re-enter that little corner of he*l again, thanks. 😂

6:24 i honestly think trying to pit this as a romance 'just because' it's sort of funnier to have a bad fundie romance than a generic literary relationship drama about weird religious upbringing is... a bit silly. But if that's a marketing decision, it's uncomfortable on an entirely new level that is also a repeating pattern with how female authors writing about weird relationships get boxed in romance/erotica anyway.

I just want one story where I dont have to wonder if the author will write something weurd, uncomfortable, borderline phobic, or downright fetishistic.
