I don’t think Tenten would give up on her kid. If anything, her being a shop owner keeps her in the village more than Lee. If anything, Metal sees both of his parents, but just spends more time training with his dad, and has a more casual relationship with his mom.

Boruto character designers did a good job making the kids look like both of their parents and giving them physical/facial traits of each. Metal is 100% a combo of Rock Lee and Tenten and you can clearly see it in his face. I always wondered why they never explored their relationship but it makes sense that the publishers didn’t want to highlight a broken family situation in a kids show that’s basically all about family.

This makes a lot more sense, but I wonder if they should've just done a similar thing to Case Closed where Rachel's parents aren't divorced but just living separately. It doesn't even have to be from an argument, but their personalities just didn't match. So in a way Tenten and Lee would still be married and taking care of Metal Lee, just not living in the same house.

I think it's also worth mentioning that the christmas cake isn't about being undesireable, it's that all mass manufacture cakes are the same, and it's a matter of being unlucky. The burden is REALLY not being a worse woman, but the opposite, still good, but there's this tradition of karma to bring bad luck into the relationship. A lot of play on it is also that older women are more reliable because they have faced unjust adversity by chance. It's also a commentary on privacy and publicity, that there are those who follow the marketing, and there's those who do no worse by going at their own pace literally only a day apart from "official" Christmas. The very recent KFC holiday in Japan, like Valentine's or Halloween.

Even 9 years after the manga ended despite there being 10+ novels & 300+ episodes afterward. Maybe you mean the Choji part. 😆 His Infinite Tsukuyomi dream was perfect. Had a cute girl cooking him food. That's heaven for Choji. Yet he ends up with some cranky girl from another village that he never interacted with. I actually get Lee and Ten Ten. Maybe they didn't work out bc Ten Ten couldn't let Neji go. Lee was her number 2 option and it just didn't work out. After they realized that Metal was poor at ninjutsu and genjutsu, the decision was made for him to stay and train with Lee. Or, Lee and Ten Ten can be made to still be married; it just hasn't come up yet. That's an easy 3 to 5 episode anime canon arc. Done and done.

@@DaDualityofMan It's cause people saw that she often worried about Neji. She generally had concerns for him and wanted him to get better, but really she just as equally cared for Lee as well. I think she saw them more as brothers than a relationship. It's probably why she tried to make things work out with Lee, but ultimately didn't share the same passion / connection. Instead choosing to remain as good friends for Metals sake. If them being divorced is 100% true, I see this as a possible theory to why it didn't work. That or similar with Gaara, Lee adopted Metal and took him in as his own son with Tenten helping/acting as a motherly figure to Metal, but I don't think that's the case.

It's only worse by the American standard of systemic planned parenthood as the alternative. The allusion here could be that Rock Lee actually adopted Metal like Harvey Pekar did, it's not a sad story at all. The idea that Tenten (chinese name) still supports Metal, by working in the traditional industry that is not financially stable, is also a perfect combination of the show's mix of conservative and progressive messaging, like with Chocho. These kinds of shows like Sakura Quest are right there in the mainstream of it. The charcters are also pretty much played off as still young, with Kiba being portrayed as only suggesting to settle down with a girl friend. Not to make some moral point, but in the context of Jaapnese dropping birthrates and long life expectancy, you can stretch your late 20's pretty close to 40 without breaking into an American idea that these people are way too old at this point to still wander.

Regardless of the case, I did always assume Metal was TenTen's kid, besides the social ramifications aside maybe TenTen 'settled' or and it didn't work out but that is baseless. What does lead me to think is that Metal's facial structure does seem to resemble Boruto Era TenTen. And I think Metal has a pretty good affinity with Shuriken which leans slightly into TenTen territory in being good with an affinity to ninja weapons which separates him from Rock Lee in being purely Taijutsu focused or talented. And the last is entirely speculative on my part or rather a stretch, but Metal's name being Metal isn't just related to his Father's being Rock, but could also be like a reference to Metal Works which is the art of making things out of Metal, which could be related to Tenten and her craft of owning a weapon shop who crafts weapons out of...Metal.

Now that I think about it in the anime Toradora! Ryuuji’s mother who raised him on his own always said that his father died in a street fight despite the truth being that he ran off with another woman shortly after he was born and his mom didn’t tell the truth till near the end of the series fearing her son would leave her like he did. It says alot when even when the man leaves his family the culture may still shift the blame to the mom which is why in most anime’s single moms will say that the father died even when he’s not dead but after this video it suddenly explains why they go that route. But for me it it’s to be implied that Ten Ten and Rock lee got divorced while that does sadden me I respect that because it makes me more invested in a story I may never even see. My head canon is that Ten ten and rock lee were both still grieving after neji death and sometimes people bond in times of crisis, after all you gotta remember that the Naruto couples all started pairing off around the same time so if ten ten had feelings for neji it may have been hard for her at Naruto’s wedding since it would remind her of him and lee may have been crushed to learn that Sakura and Sasuke still became a thing, add that ino and Sami became a couple, shikamaru had Temari and even choji was seeing karui perhaps the atmosphere of loneliness pushed them together and they thought that hey could make it work only to realize they didn’t share the feelings they thought they did, I wouldn’t be shocked if guy basically acts as the mediator between them and helps lee watch over metal for ten ten and ten ten while still being a supportive mother can’t be shown being a single mom due to the negative stereotype it sends becomes you gotta remember back in the academy arc metal showed he had excellent marksmanship in Shurriken practice and we know lee doesn’t have that so it’s obvious who he learned it from

I actually wouldn’t like that if TenTen was Metal Lee’s mom. Not every ninja in boruto needs their parent to be a member of the former generation. I would rather Metal Lee’s mom be a training enthusiast that fell in love with Rock Lee over his personality than being Ten Tens second choice because Neji died. Look at Tsunade, she lost the love of her life and she didn’t rebound to Jiraya, even though he loved her. The same can be said for Ten Ten.

My theory is that Lee went to Orochimaru. He wanted to have a child that he could pass his and Gais legacy down. With maybe Tenten donating an egg or something because she wanted to help out a friend without having to have a child. The wife however separated from them for some reason I can't remember (It's been a while since I saw this film.) You can easily build some bs childhood story around them (NaruHina-like) to make them decide for each other and least but not least: 4. METAL Lee. What are NINJA WEAPONS made of? METALS. Listen to me: How badaaaaaass would it be to have the son of a Tai Jutsu-expert and a weapon crafting-Kunoichi? Imagine Metal Lee being a master of Tai Jutsu with weapon usage. The part with the characters being divided as single or with kids, made me realise how many of them actually dont have kids yet. Maybe they are saved up for a later generation? Im hoping for a Shino shipping!! I grew up with this anime, but im realising just nowadays how mature and caring Shino actually was. No, not from Boruto. I even rewatched some Naruto (not shippuuden) episodes and i view them in entirely different way. Loving Shino more and more. Dont like how most of not all the characters are nerfed in the newest series... Id really love some personal adventures of the old characters!

Isn't Lee from a small village outside the Leaf? What if his mom is there? I may be wrong but when they show Lee training as a child he has different clothes and a long braid... I just assumed that Rock was born in that village and grew up somewhat similar to Lee, except Rock does have Lee in his life, while we don't see Lee's parents.... Idk 😶

Nah, I don't think Tenten's his mother at least not his biological one. I think whoever that woman is, is either dead or ran out on Lee. Even if they were going to go that route having them as a couple or divorced couple at first I'm pretty sure that idea has been abandoned because Tenten was never shown to be a malicious person and there's no way as kind as Lee is that he wouldn't enforce a relationship between his son and his mother who's been a close friend and teammate for years. Tenten has not had any interaction with Metal in the anime nor manga no way Metal wouldn't have a relationship with his mom who still lives in the village and Lee would just be okay with her abandoning them, being divorced is one thing but no way would they make her a deadbeat. There's more evidence pointing out she's not his mom like in the Boruto movie ending credits where Metal and Lee are together and Tenten's by herself, sure it lends credence to the divorce thing but that's still her child and she should be next to him. Also probably the elephant in the room known as the Parent and Child day novel where all respective families were paired together in their family trees, Tenten is lined up with Rock Lee and Metal but in her character description it doesn't say she's Lee's ex or that she's Metal's mom just that she runs a weapons shop and that she's a former member of team Guy which the novel changes to team 3 so that's the reason they lined her up with them because she's Lee's former teammate and the relationship doesn't go farther than that. In that novel Kakashi, Kiba and Shino are paired together because they don't have extended family but they play a role in the novel so Tenten being put next to Lee and Metal doesn't really mean anything either. In the novel she talks to Naruto about the kunai she's selling for Parent and Child day, no way she wouldn't get called out for not being with her son and no way would ninja tools be more important to her. I stand by it Tenten's not his mom based on evidence of a nonexistent relationship between mother and child. It's funny the mental gymnastics people are doing to rationalize this by saying Tenten never liked Neji it was always Lee lol no Tenten clearly admired Neji and wanted something more in the future someday, her and Lee were only friends and never showed any romantic interest in each other like no one ever shipped them and now they get this bit of info and now they're trying to justify a ship that makes no sense.

Two ways this can be justified The shot of rock lee family being together is not shown and it will be revealed after time skip Another one rocklee wants to raise his kid by his own ways so ten ten didn't interfere. Hence, metal lee's mother name is not disclosed. When metal lee achieves something big, then we might see the big reveal. They will do it at some point i guess cause it is interesting topic ans kishimoto knows that people need answers and he knows how to captialise on hot topics well. So yeah i am postive about the reveal in time skip.

I don't think they divorced because of Neji, I think Lee and Tenten just aren't always compatible. If you look at Lee and Tenten's relationship throughout the show, Tenten goes back and forth between admiring Lee's hard work, and being super annoyed with Lee over doing things. I think there is a sexual attraction between the two, but Lee would rather work out than spend time with his spouse, which ultimately ruined the marriage.

Rock lee (Stone Age), his son should have been Copper lee (Copper age), and Copper lee and Tenten's daughter Tin could have produced Bronze lee (copper and tin blended make bronze. Bronze Age), and then Bronze lee should have had Steel lee.
