She is so gorgeous and talented. This beautiful song reminds me of my nephew and his wife. They were best friends all through school, then, after they graduated, she had a brief marriage that amounted to nothing. She came back to town and my mother and I ran across her working in a store we were in. She talked a long time,, asked about Jacob, and gave us her number to give to him. Right away they reconnected , and before you know it, they married. Their oldest child, their daughter, will turn 18 next month… she’s a wonderful woman, and he really did save the best for last. He went through a few girlfriends, but none equaled Laura.

She was also in the Movie "Hoodlum" with Laurence Fishburne, Cucely Tyson, and Andy Garcia. About the real life of "Bumpy Johnson". I believe he lived in Harlem in the 1930's or 40's. Bumpy went up against "Dutch Schultz" over controlling the Numbers Racket there. Good movie

"Save The Best For Last" was released in August 1991 on "The Comfort Zone", then as a single in early 1992, as it spent 6 weeks at #1 and charted throughout 1992 and performed at the Grammy Awards in 1993. The song is considered one of the best of the 1990s.

This was early 90s but in my mind it's an honorary 80s song, because when I was a kid there were ballads like this in the charts every other week, half the time from someone you'd never heard of before, half the time you never heard of them again. By the mid-90s it wasn't really happening anymore to that same extent and I don't suppose it ever will again. I was like 7 years old and just fell in love over and over with these completely astounding singers (who often happened to be drop-dead gorgeous, too). What a time, man.

I was so crazy about this song when it was popular. I had always loved Vanessa, but this song just took it to a different level. The message is so deep, but the song is just SO beautiful. I think part of the reason the song was so popular (if I remember right, it was #1 for 4 weeks) is because a lot of people had been in the same position, but I don't think it was something that was so openly expressed, and people really related to it. The song is so beautiful, you wouldn't expect it to be about something so deep. And yes, her EYES are ridiculously beautiful. You really should check out another song of hers, "The Sweetest Days." I love it as well, but not as much as "Save the Best for Last."

Once in awhile someone comes along and my admiration for them comes close to worship. Vanessa Williams is one of them. You couldn't escape this song in the 90s it was constantly on the radio. And you couldn't escape her Talent either. She was beautiful and won Miss America then this song came out after she was stripped of her title for some ridiculous controversy. Then she showed her acting chops. You need to watch "soul food", a fantastic display of her range and talent

I remember watching the Miss America contest the night she won and I was so happy for her. After the nude photos surfaced and they took her crown away she didn't retreat. She took charge of her life, accepted responsibility for her actions and then went on to be probably the most successful Miss America in history. She is amazing!

It's a little funny you asked who is she. She is Miss America 1984, The first black Miss America ever. They took her crown away after it came out she had some nude photos taken to help pay for college, but her career took off just 4 years later. She's actually a very inspiring story. She's also one of the most underrated r&b singers in her era. Among Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson, She was a true prize in the industry. She had a number of hits and #1's, Dreamin', Love is, and Colors of the Wind. And she's also a great actress. The movie Sould Food and Desperate Housewives being her most notable. This woman can truly sing.

Vanessa Williams was the 1984 Miss America, but famously was forced to renounce her crown because of some pictures. It took like 30 years for The Miss America pageant to apologize. In the interim, she had a pretty successful music career in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and has had a successful acting career stretching well into the 2000s.
