Loved this set! I bought two. One, so I could have a loose Sky Sled and a Sky High in my Heroic Warriors display, and one to put Sky High in my Wind Raider, and have a Sky Sled in case Mattel made the rest of the Battle Ram. Worked out perfectly! And Joe's a great guy.

Stinky pussy cat!? That reminds me of custom idea I thought up for Origins. (I already have 2 ideas I want to build and can't afford to invest in a 3rd... 4th...) With all the comments about fleshtone ("naked") Stratos, my idea was to give him Zodac's "furry draws" and possibly head, then bathe his parts (head excluded) in Patchouli and call him "Stank Man", the Evil Horde's master of stink/funk. With or without Horde body armor (that he'd likely borrow from Hordak or Voltek -- Hordak's air warrior and zookeeper), his job is to make everyone around him _very_ uncomfortable -- from Mantenna to the Rebels!

I wish I knew more about why Joe Amato wears that mask as I don Plague Masks so I'd like to know his origins and motivations. I think that is one of the only vehicles I had as seen it in box recently the Sky Sled they stole from Flash Gordon then combined with another vehicle to avoid copy write claims probably hehe. I would have liked to see a Sky High Sky Cycles R Us or some place where person is selling this tech to both sides. AS its one of the only vehicles they share like even GI Joe all the Hiss stuff is kinda unique or its own. They should have done his face sculpt to be what Joe really looks like so nobody would know unless took off the mask haha. I never had that one green flying vehicle so it always made me kinda bitter at it :).

Another interesting one. That part about He-Man returning from "New Adventures" made me wonder if you have ever read the Newspaper Strips. They have something similar going on. Not all Strips have been recovered, but He-Man goes to Primus and later on returns to Eternia. Maybe another topic for a future video. The collection from Dark Horse is pretty good. The one of the book anyway. I'm a bit split on the stories myself.

I love hearing the backstory of this character. (That being said...) @ 8:20, you hit on what I wanted to ask. In late 1988 and 1990, Transformers had *two* Autobots called "Sky High". (The first one was an Autobot Pretender, sold alongside "Cloudburst", whom you show @ 8:23.) Pretender Sky High was a human in a bird-themed space suit who opened up to an Autobot who turned into a helicopter. The Transformer's helicopter blade doubled as the astronaut's double scythe weapon, something I wish I could imitate with a MotU Evil Warrior. The second "Sky High" was an Autobot Micromaster (in a team of 4) who turned into a sky blue F/A-18. According to official fiction, the two characters are unrelated. Wouldn't there be a naming conflict? (At least in the vintage era, if not now.)

The question I wanted ask most is: do you think there's a chance Mattel will have a custom figure contest for Origins, like they did for Classics? I tried to produce an entry for the Origins contest, but due to work (and the fact that I didn't see the image/paper size requirements until late), I mailed my entry at the literal last minute. I still want to share my idea for an Evil Warrior specializing in stealth and aerial assault. His weapon(s) would be a scythe-like blade (inspired by the 1st Autobot Sky High), but as an Avion, he'd also wear a pair of black Stratos wings.

Hello! I'm a big fan of your content. I think hearing the business side and how the business and creative sides intertwine is incredibly unsightful. I also credit your PKE meter as the thing that got me back into Ghostbusters. I endes up hunting down a ghost trap (one of the finest toys ever), and I grabbed the neutrona wand and ecto-goggles on release. I am wondering, though... what happened with the ecto goggles? Could you talk a little about those and how/why they got so far away from the filming prop, especially considering how excellent the other releases in the line were?

Was Sky High ever considered to have a Fighting Foe Man type gimmick where you could switch his chest emblem? I've had this theory for a while. He's got a similar look (vehicle design on chest). It seems to make sense that he'd have the ability to switch it out for a Horde symbol since he's similar not in design but in origin as well (nameless pilot on artwork). My dream Sky High would have the red emblem he has now to match the art, a yellow one to match the wind raider, and a horde one.

Great video, interesting as per usual. On a Side note, to this day I still contend that you should have also done a Blue Road Ripper for two reasons: 1. As a homage to the Argentinian Top Toys version 2. and more imporantly, it goes perfect with the Battle Ram, especially if you did a thing so it could be attached to the Battle Ram Cannon part and swap it with the Sky sled. It would double the play value. I am curious of your thoughts on that, as an expert of the toy industry and MOTU-fan :)

Conjecture is that they needed to have the Wind Raider on the poster but they already used all the characters on the art so they just had to slap something together. Kinda like the other vehicle pilots that became the Fighting Foe Men.

Pretty sure that his name was "Wind-Raider". The vehicle's name is, "Steve". There was a huge print error on the "Steve" vehicle box in the '80s and Mattel was forced to pivot and swap the names. At least that's how it played out in my head. 😀 But seriously, I like the deduction used by the comment above me.

The back and forth likely happened behind the scenes as I would guess Scott messaging Joe and asking him to record some audio giving his story to Sky High. Its such a short and concise creation story that if it were an interview it would be extremely short. At the same time we know Scott's internet connection in his house is crap and can't keep up with live streams or video chats (as was evident in the Great Toy Debate and subsequent live streams). Joe is passionate about MOTU, secretive about his identity, has limited windows for interaction and but isn't confrontational . The recording works fine.
