I'm most excited by Alela, Cunning Conqueror. I love that she encourages casting a spell in every opponent's turn, maximum interaction! And her flying tokens can make people fight each other :D Plus I've found there's a lot of cool stuff you can do with big boards of faerie rogues in general.

Syr Ginger feels like she'd be more at home in a 99 than leading the deck. I for one will be using her though as The Goose Mother hungers for more food, and the more the Mother consumes the more powerful Ginger becomes.

I have a plan for a Rule-0 deck with Syr Ginger that ignores the colour identity rule, but instead has the restriction that every non-land card has to have the word "food" in the type line or text box. Obviously, like any such rule-bending deck, it'd need to clear your table's other players but I feel like it would be a fun idea that most people would be cool with.

Of the WOE commanders, I think Talion and Agatha are the ones that interested me the most. The idea of cloning Talion a dozen times and making an overly roundabout Rhystic Studies with life loss attached is so fun, and Invoker tribal with Agatha giving place to really bad commons and uncommons from across Magic's history is so cool.

Agatha of the Vile Cauldron was the one that stood out to me from this set. Her ability not only makes those expensive activity invoker abilities useful, she can fairly easily make them game enders.

Opposition + Hilda seems like an insane combo for ongoing control of the battlefield by giving the tap effect to your elemental tokens even when still summoning sick. Even gives you the option to tap artifacts and lands in an emergency.

That would depend on your build. You don’t have to enchant your opponents creatures in an Eriette deck, it is just beneficial to do so due to her first ability in order to prevent your opponents attacking you as well as making it more difficult to remove those auras from play. If they don’t have creatures to attack you, you don’t have to worry about that…

Wouldn't say "the commander people were waiting for".... It's a +2/+2 anthem in the command zone, for the rest..... if you really need it in a pinch, yes 2nd ability can be good... But generally, exiling your own cards feels bad.

I always liked Kess as an adventure commander. Because you can cast the adventures from the graveyard with kess’s ability, but they exile anyway from the adventure so you can still cast the creature afterwards. Codie is another good adventure commander but more of a meme. It’s a way to get spells for Codie but have almost entirely permanents in the deck so you can consistently hit Glimpse of Tomorrow

What's great about Imodane is that damage doubles/triples like Fiery Emancipation double/tripple twice. First when the spell deals dmg to a creature and then when imodane deals dmg to players, which means that with Fiery Emancipation out a single Lightning Bolt will deal 27 dmg to opponents. This is amazing!

I like a lot of the designs from the set. The new Alela and Korvold commanders are fun takes on their older versions. My favorite from the main set, though, is Totentanz. Until his appearance, we've yet to see his effect on a Rakdos legendary outside of Raphael, whose effect is restricted to one token a turn. The biggest boon for Totentanz is that the main set has really solid support for him, which is surprising, considering he's an uncommon. I can't wait to to put together the list I've brewed for him, which is something I haven't felt for a commander deck in a while.

I’m personally very excited for Eriette, and I’m already much of the way through building her! There’s several ways to go about it too - going with powerful auras for opponents, or going more curse-heavy directly on opponents. My personal favorite are the small pile of auras like Unholy Indenture which allow you to enchant opponents’ creatures and control them once they die. The best of these is Minion’s Return which you can play at flash speed - I think that one anticipated a card with Eriette’s play style. And the best thing is that these cards also double as protection/recursion for Eriette or our enchantresses! Really looking forward to a good political deck like this, playing mind games and turning the pod on each other!

That is how I built Eriette, the enchantments that allow me to gain control of my opponents' creatures when they die and you can even stick one on your own Eriette to bring her back if she gets killed (Eriette's biggest weakness is she HAS to be on the battlefield for most of your deck to work).

@@broodwarjc1517 i completely agree - you need a robust package of protection to keep her in play and keep your draining win-con happening. I’ve got Lightning Greaves in there, but a lot of these auras (Kaya’s Ghostform being another) are also super useful. I’m eager to test it out and see where the sweet spot is though - I want consistency there but I also am having trouble picking between all these great auras to torment opponents with 😈 the Impetus cards (I count three in Orzhov colors) and the Vows (Duty, Malice, Torment), the curses (thinking six to eight of these)…there’s not that much more space!

Beluna is really cool, and I like the new Korvold he definitely feels more fair than the original... Devour is my favorite mechanic so its always fun to try and build around "eating" things. Lots of "Nobles" being printed of late... maybe we'll soon have a Noble tribal commander :')

Yenna duplicates enchantments, which can be fun. I also noticed that if you use it on the Three Blind Mice saga, you make a token copy of it which can make token copies of itself, so you get unlimited mice!

I got Beluna in my prerelease packs with the alternate artwork and a lot of adventures to go with her. I had a lot of fun with her during the prerelease and after it I couldn't just put her down, so I have a Beluna Commander deck now. Next Commander night I will play her again and it's gonna be fun :D I love the mechanic, hopefully there are going to be more adventures in future sets. The best part with Beluna is, that I can use the instant part when I have nothing else to do for that turn and cast her later for just 3 mana.

Quest for Pure Flame in combination with Immodane is neat because Quest doubles the damage you throw at creatures and then Immodane triggers and Quest doubles that damage, making one bolt hit each opponent for 12. I think this double-dipping also works with Torbrand and Fiery Emancipation.

Beluna is actually going to my my first commander deck, I played golgari adventures in pioneer before it I just love how much utility adventures can have, and her adventure just gets your gambling freak on to load up your hands with more ppl. Tlincalli and others are a must to make the most of activating effects from outside your hand (aka just playing adventures!) Which can allow you to sift through your deck a little faster and later bring out all the big bodies in the adventure zones

I have to say my fav commander from this set is actually Totentanz, Swarm Piper. Brings together Aristocrats and Rats, is a great budget option (Totentanz himself is less than a dollar), and gives an option for rats outside of Mono-Black!

Not really a powerhouse of a Commander, but while opening my Pre-release box for the set, I was very excited to draw out Totentanz, Swarm Piper. Rat support is always welcome and Totentanz finally gives Rats a dedicated home in Rakdos colors. Whether it will exlode into a new age of Fling-Rat meta or just be dwarfed by rats' mono-black homes and Golgari brethren, it gives more places to put your pile of 20-40 Rat Colonies and will be something fun to test out. If anything, for a more pure beatdown strategy, red gives access to lightning-fast aggro with trample and haste namely and the tokens Totentanz leaves behind makes sure that the colony has a buffer before beginning to diminish.

It's not a commander that excited me most in WoE, but the Role cards, namely "Asinine Antics". They serve as an excellent option for Constellation decks as you get the Enchantment enter the battlefield for bonus value outside of normal Enchantress methods.

I definitely most excited for Eriette. I planned out a deck as soon as she was revealed and already picked up almost all the singles I'd need for the deck. (I think there's 1-2 other new cards in WOE that I also want to add to the 99.) Also, not a new commander, but WOE also has a lot of stuff that I'm looking to put into the 99 for Rocco, Street Chef. Lots of food synergies - plus Night of the Sweets' Revenge to turn food into land - and Adventures to be cast from exile. I think Syr Ginger could very well find a spot in there.

Despite Eriette's first ability, I still think that a nice Pacifism package, particularly effects like Pillory of the Sleepless that add just some trickle of damage more to it. That, and auras that don't pump, but give creatures protection. Make them harder to remove or trade, and at the same if Eriette leaves the battlefield you don't have to worry about your boost coming back to bite you.

Personally excited for Alela, Cunning Conquerer. Most control decks are too scared to attack, and players in general at battle-cruiser tables don't typically like to attack unless they have an overwhelming board state. Alela fixes both of these issues. Also, Alela embodies the perfect idea of a Fairy to me. Flick your opponents on the nose, tell them "Ah ah aaahhh, you didn't say the magic woorrrdd!", get them to attack other players, and being a general nuisance without being overpowered. It might not earn you friends, but it fits the flavor of the creature type, and it encourages the table to move the game along instead of sitting back. Building her in a HEARTBEAT!

Damage doublers/triplers are absolutely disgusting with Imodane: imagine your bolt does 9 damage to something, then Imodane deals 27 to the table I also like Hylda with cards like Court Street Denizen that tap down creatures when creatures ETB on your side, meaning you can basically tap down as many creatures and make as many 4/4's as you have mana available This set is great honestly, lots of fun stuff to try out!

@@kilik5713 ah, no. It's just a rough version that I haven't even uploaded to a deckbuilder. It has a lot of obvious cards like Lier, Underworld Breach, and lucky clover. The adventures I'm using are almost all card advantages in some way. Bramble Familiar is extremely strong when you can copy it and hit something like dualcaster mage to copy the original and keep digging.
