The scroll will show the self when clarity into self is achieved. But clarity is just one point in time. Consensus is the human ordeal. It is what unifies us. But due to its strong influence it also confuses us. So the dragon scroll is meant to temper consensus. Thus it brings clarity into others.

To me,the best moment of Po is when,on the second movie,he has his final fight with Lord Shen. I love how this question comes together in each movie: - I'm not a fat Panda. I'm the fat Panda (Accepting his abilities) - I am Po. And I'm gonna need a hat (Acceping himself) -Am I the son of a Panda? the son of a goose? A student? A teacher? Turns out I'm all of them. @mcgoldenblade47652 жыл бұрын
In this case I think Po couldn't lose weight simply because he's a Panda. Pandas are very large and sedentary creatures that spend most of their existence eating and sleeping. Po was a Panda to his very core, he couldn't change who he was. But it's because he eventually accepted himself for who he was and used the fact that he was a Panda to his advantage was what made him such a great Kung Fu master.
@kaitlynboss34972 жыл бұрын
@@mcgoldenblade4765 I like that. He was fundamentally a panda and he couldn't change that. He needed to learn to fight like a panda, not a tiger.
@rhenvao28443 жыл бұрын
Every Kung Fu Panda villain was a dark reflection of the lessons Po had to learn in each film: Tai Lung was the body. He craved the power behind the Dragon Scroll and, in his own words, "trained until [his] bones cracked". He was fit, skilled, strong, and fast, everything Po wasn't. Yet, he did not have the capacity to understand that true power came within, not an external source and thus, his quest was doomed to fail. Shen was the mind. He was shackled by the past and incapable of moving on or coping with it in a healthy way. Instead of reflecting on his actions, he continues down his self-destructive path to the very end. Po, however, learns his past, accepts it, and chooses to be a good person in the here and now. Shen is what Po could have been if he let the darkness of his past consume his present and future. Kai was the spirit. Where Po shared his chi and received it by those who were willing to save his life, Kai simply stole it and could never understand it the way Oogway, and later Po, did. To Kai, chi was simply a key to more power. To Po, it was the final step in his self-realization; the son of a goose, a panda, the dragon warrior; he was all of them. This is surprisingly deep stuff for a franchise called Kung Fu Panda and I don't think it gets enough credit for how well it handles its themes.

My favorite movie is the second. The first dreamworks movie to ever make me cry. How Po deals with his trauma through inner peace, and how you can see shifu’s calmness between the first and second movie, showing he acheived it. Po’s final fight with Shen shows that while yes, Po hates Shen for what he did, he also knows there is nothing he can do but defend. Yin and Yang. Perfect balance. Also, my favorite scene is the one where it shows the journey of Po’s Mom’s love through the raindrop that flows through Po’s arms. You can see his pain throughout, but he is making peace with himself. So tell me, Po, who are you?
@dontlookatme96923 жыл бұрын

The only part of this that I disagree with, is about Po hating Shen. I just don't think he has the capacity to truly hate anyone. Sure, he doesn't understand why facing Shen is so hard for him until he faces his own trauma, but even after that, during the final fight, he doesn't face him with anger, he doesn't want to kill him, or make him pay for what he's done. He still comes to him with compassion after everything that's happened. No, I don't think he hated Shen; but once he understood Shen, once he understood how Shen's own character drove him to do the horrible things he did, he still believed there was a chance to redeem him. Shen died by his own choice, but Po still held out a hand to him to save him from himself.

Po as a character is the definition of the hero's journey. He started out as pretty much nothing, but he had dreams, and desires of kung fu and becoming a master himself. Others put him down for it, even his own adoptive father. However, Po did give until he realizes that he has potential as everyone learns in their own way. Throughout the films, Po is constantly being challenged, almost like life is preparing Po for something... a goal to achieve each time. When it comes to goals there come challenges, struggles, and obstacles. This is why Oogway chose him as he was everything but wanted Po to see it for himself. Even though Po's journey is essentially over, there is a chance that it's still going on. Po may be happy and fulfilled with all he has done but there might still be more for Po to learn still. Like for example, what if Tai Lung returned how would Po deal with him? Or if Shifu goes away similar to Oggway how will he get through it? This is why Po is a character you should root for and believe in, which is why I love him as a character as I can relate to him when I was growing up. I know this may be long but I thank you for taking the time to read this. You earned a subscription from me.

One of the things that I always felt was overlooked was the Wu Shi Finger Hold. Po talked about how it was one of the most feared techniques, able to take down even the strongest of martial artists. Even Tai long, who was a master of martial arts, hadn’t learn the technique because it was passed down and Shifu hadn’t taught it to him. Yet Po, even though he had only seen it once, figured it out and used it to defeat Tai long and sent Kai back to the spirit realm. Like Po said, the Dragon Warrior would be a master of the ancient arts

What I love about the first movie is that it shows through Po that nobody is able to change who they are (a panda), but that they can change something (Kung Fu) to work for them. Po didn't have to change, he just made it possible with adjusting the training and looking at his somewhat flaws to work as advantages (like his belly to push the tiger away from him). I think this is a great lesson for children: if it doesn't work out right away, you can make it work for you with dedication and self-acceptance.

Honestly, Tai Lung is my favorite animated enemy ever. Not just because of his cool attacks and how he almost beat Po. But its about how much Tai Lung and Po have in common. Both raised by different species fathers, they both thought at first that the title of Dragon Warrior meant power, and control of others, but what strikes different about Tai Lung is the way he went about getting revenge. The Furious 5 was brought together so another Dragon Warrior could be chosen, and protect everybody from the possible threats that could arise. When The 5 lost to Tai Lung, Master Shifu had to use Po, with the title of The Dragon Warrior. Shifu was so fearful that Tai Lung was going to wreak havoc if given the scroll. But Po understands what the scroll being blank means, but Tai Lung doesn't. Tai Lung wants Shifu's approval and the power of the Dragon Scroll. Po wanted the same thing before, but when taught he learned that the scroll wasn't about power and control, it was about peace, and defending those who need it. Tai Lung was going to defeat anybody he needed to to gain the scroll. Even though Oogway denied him, he accepted Po. Tai Lung took Shifu's love and training for granted. Just so he could have the power, and Po came to defend the scroll and keep it out of Tai Lungs paws. The one bad thing about the first movie, is the last fight scene. It just didn't make sense, as if it was trying to make fun of Tai Lungs power and dreams. Just kind of a waste of potential there.
@j01sonofsleazy11 ай бұрын
he understood what the scroll being blank meant INDIRECTLY thanks to his stepfather mr. ping, and it was about how the "secret power" actually comes from within and the last fight scene was po finally starting to throw hands, showcasing that "secret power", thus humiliating and destroying tai

Until today I couldn't understand why just before the climax of the third movie everyone were able to master chi without a special training for it, but now your explanation made total sense to me :o Don't get me wrong, I like the third movie, especially when Po finally became who he was meant to be, but that part didn't make sense to me. But now yes. Also I want to add that I just love how after answering Kai's question, just after saying the epic line "I am the Dragon Warrior", he still acts goofy with the dragon chi aura. For me it's actually a nice touch: you can become a master (or a successful person) and still keeping the behaviours and attitudes that make you be you. Wiseness doesn't exclude childfulness (I don't know if I'm accidentally creating words, English is not my native language, and I'm sure "childishness" is a word with negative connotation, hence I used "childfulness"). I find this scene so relatable because I teach Japanese, and I have now more than 5 years of experience teaching it, and even then I use my eccentricity (I'd been like this since childhood) as the primary tool for teaching, and it gets results n.n

The one thing I really dig about KFP and other great movies from Dreamworks in general, is that they all portray underdog protagonists (eg. Shrek, Po, Hiccup,etc), and grow them in more ways than just getting out of their lowly status and accepting themselves. For example, in Shrek 4, Shrek went through 2 movies ( not including 3) worth of developing his relationship for Fiona and growing to accepting his ogre demeanour and mannerism despite common stereotypes posed upon him. In 4, he goes kinda through a backwards development with him wanting to go back to the old days without Fiona and Donkey, reveling in his old self. This works because the whole thing with Rumpel’s deal pressured Shrek to change and to think about his choices and to remember the development he went through. Same case for Po here. Instead of just sticking with an underdog story, KFP grows Po as a person through different aspects that most people tend to brush off. Good Video, Sage.

I think it's cool that the first movie looked into po's present, the second movie is looked into po's past and the third movie is looked into the future for Po.

So true what you said about Po truly being Mr.Ping's son. They both are brave enough to live with open hearts and show love to the people around them.

Po has had an awesome journey throughout the three films from a zero to hero. It hasn't been easy due to the his own self-doubt, others lack of faith in him, his tragic past and troubling identity crisis and all. But all of them have shaped Po both physically and spiritually as who he is from inside : Master Po the Dragon Warrior.

I always loved Kung fu panda, having watched the first film a million times when I was a kid Years passed by and I had watched at the cinema the other two films, with Shen scaring the hell out of me and I still remember how cool was Tai's entrance music. Being quarantined in the last week, I just rewatched the trilogy and discovered all the hidden messages and philosphies that only when life happens you can rrally appreciate, expecially the doubt in Po's mind in the second film of acceptance of whatever he is and the human growth he endured. Best pixar saga hands down
