Honestly, this whole scenario is so damn good that, even if it's not cannon, I want to believe it is. The atmosphere is top notch, the game play, while pretty much the same as the rest of the game, gives you a sense of urgency to your actions and the music. On god the MUSIC. It's the best goddamn theme in this game and nobody can change my mind. So yeah fuck it. It's cannon. I don't care. It's too good to not be cannon

For some reason I actually like the non-canon story of The Forgotten Soldier instead of Canon story of hunk, honestly the gas mask for the Forgotten Soldier is pretty much useless since the lens is broken, he might as well just take it off.

It it wasn't the dominant eye I would disagree since the dark lens would help reduce the intensity of gun fire flash or flash bangs...but sadly that's the one that's broken...so yep the thing is useless. I guess he would be less likely to catch an infection

Dude, you really need to work on your analytical skills. The one you mentioned @ 1:33 "the other one is yet to be known" was Ghost. As you've seen, he got smashed against the wall which you can also see in the main game and at the start of the ghost survivors. J.Martinez was a completely different person and have died in the lab walkway. You yourself have pointed it out @ 2:18. You'll know it's him because you pick up a tape from his body cam

I agree that I need to work on my analytical skills, but I believe what I said is still valid. What we know for sure: 4 operators entered the lab in the Remake and only 3 of 'em were named. J. Martinez is indeed Ghost. If you don't believe me: residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/J._Martinez The part when I picked up the tape was also meant to show the inconsistency of his story.

@@undeadzilla3394 Yea, the source you gave validates your argument but you know wiki entries is a public domain where anyone who's signed up on the fandom can edit it. That's why there are pencil icons on the page for editing if something needs to be updated. Back to Ghost, the most likely explaination was it was an oversight from the devs. It would've made sense if the body cam tape can be found on the guy that got smacked to the wall which would id him as Martinez. And since there's a character build up for Ghost, it would've made a lot of sense it that was him in the NEST as he had managed to get that far. But then again, they would have to rewrite his whole "what if" story with the bridge platform near the labs as his starting point. The inconsistencies may have been due to the fact that the characters didnt have a set plotline yet when it was written back in 1998 like claire was originally elza walker and so on. Another was Lt. Marvin Branagh's desk is in the subordinates area and leon the rookie is seated on the spot where team leaders should be

Speaking of sources, if you check the first one on the fandom page, it cites from the "BIOHAZARD RE:2 Official Complete Guide". If you look up this guide you can find Ghost's entry on page 188.

@@undeadzilla3394 Ok, I replayed the game. I dont know why I never realized this before or maybe I was just not paying that much attention to the corpses lying around the place in the game but yeah, I was wrong. Hehe. But then again, the guy that got smashed against the wall was definitely not ghost/ martinez and could very well be the unnamed uss guy. The starting location suggests that ghost/ martinez was not with his team when birkin attacked which confirms that the dead uss guy on the north area platform of the nest is indeed him. ...or, the most likely scenario was there were 3 of them who survived from birkin. Hunk then tasked 2 of them (martinez and another unnamed guy) to pursue and secure the sample but had died before doing so. Otherwise both of them wouldnt have been at the nest. The "what if" scenario then starts right after that. There may even be a 3rd uss guy (the zombie outside the kitchen door of the cafeteria which would make them a 7-man team) but cant tell for sure as he doesnt have a helmet, gasmask and side pouches.
