I'm using the 17-70 on my a6400, and it does the job quite well, while the quality of low-light performance on APSCs are wanting, it cannot be blamed on the lens. I will strive, if God wills it so, for a better full frame option in the coming year hopefully. The only thing I don't like about the Tamron is that it is a little chunky during my travels, but it more than makes up for what it lacks in size/mass for that little extra reach. I'm still a novice, so I get nervous easily when going outdoors, so that extra zoom helps a lot. I enjoy it a lot, and I think you're good with either one, because they're just one of the best all-rounder lens out there for the APSC world. Goodluck y'all! Happy shootin and another great video by the creator! ♥️

I bought the Tamron because of the image stabilization and sold the Sony 16-55 f2.8. But last year I added the Sigma, because of its size. I use the Tamron on jobs, and the Sigma with the A6600 to carry with me in a small pouch for personal photos. The VC/IS of the Tamron is really good also for handheld videos. Some noticed that the VC and IBIS interfere. Anyway I use the Tamron on a Sony without IBIS. Great review. One thing that annoys me about the Sigma is that the zoom ting rotates in the opposite direction than the Sony and Tamron lenses. Sigma should have adopted the regular zoom ring direction for the camera mount it is for.

I've had a Sony mirrorless APS-C body since the NEX-6, the entire time I've stuck with primes because all of the Kit Zoom replacement lenses are giant schnozes compared the size of the camera... IMHO no one's gotten the balance right of a good APS-C f2.8 standard zoom until Sigma knocked their 18-50/2.8 out of the park - not only is it small, light and perfectly balanced - it is sharp as a tack and fast, finally a properly sized lens for an A6x00 without compromising image quality. VC and extra reach of the Tamron is nice but its still a bit too big. Sigma's my choice here.

If my aps-c camera (a6000) had image stabilization, I would sale the Tamron and keep the Sigma. The Tamron's size is on the verge of being to big for a daily walk around lens. The Sigma's size if perfect on a 6000 series camera.

For me the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 and 18-50mm f2.8 pairs nicely with my A6700 to make a nice and compact travel kit. For some city photo walks, I’ve even used two bodies, A6100 with the 10-18mm and A6700 with 18-50mm which saves switching lenses and still have a compact kit. If I need a telephoto, I add my FF Tamron 28-200mm f2.8-f5.6 and cover a good range from 15mm to 300mm equivalent. I wish there was an APSC equivalent to the Tamron 28-200mm f2.8-5.6 zoom that is both sharp and relatively fast to pair with the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 for a two lens travel kit that covers wide to telephoto. I think right now the best option is the Sony 18-135mm kit lens…wished they made something faster with a constant f4 in that range while keeping it compact. For now, I’m happy with my 3 lens compact APSC travel kit.

Thanks for the review! Sigma released this lens when I already had a Tamron 17-70. I didn't like the blur in Tamron, it wasn't stable. On the Sony a6400, I did not notice the stabilizer working, especially on the video, the shaking at 70mm was stronger than at 105 on the Sony 18-105mm. The only advantage of the Tamron in front of Sigma is 70 mm. It's big, heavy, without a normal stabilizer and with a nervous background blur.
@myblujl75037 ай бұрын
I got rid of my 17-70 for the Simga 18-50 for my A6700. At 60-70MM, the Temron fell on its face at F2.8. I would need to stop down to 4.5 or 5.6 to get good contrast or photo's would be garbage. So many times I would get home, start looking through my photo's and realize that I didnt stop down so half of them was garbage. I tried two different copies of the Tamron and two different bodies (A6600 and A6700) and they all had bad contrast problems at the telephoto range. I also got the Tamron 28-75 G2 and its 10x better. Ya, its a full frame, and ya, I dont get wide angle, but I have a Tamron 11-20 for that, plus the 18-50 for something light and nimble.

When I had a Sony a6300, I bought a Tamron 17-70 and I didn't need anything else. This lens is what you need. 70mm, instead of 50 is a big value. Very little attention is paid to stabilization in the video, and this is one of the decisive criteria for choosing between these lenses in video shooting. Stabilization is very important for both photos and videos, especially. I wouldn't regret buying a Tamron 17-70 again, but now I have an Sony a7IV and a Tamron 28-75 G2 and here I'm a little short of a wide angle.
@boldyo7 ай бұрын
Despite the larger size I think the Tamron 17-70 would be better for street photos especially if you want the kind of shot with the background in focus and the showing blurry people movement you can shoot hand held and the stabilization will allow for a slower shutter speed. Also the cost can be much less as you will need less primes. With the sigma 18-50 you may also want to get the sigma 16mm and maybe a viltrox 75mm and also something wider, where with the Tamron you might just get the Viltrox 13mm or Sony 11mm primes and zoom with your feet and the Tamron for everything else. The overall cost will be much less.

When getting my zve10, i ended up choosing 11mm sony, 30mm sigma and 56mm sigma. @@hridaimanav3620 11mm is a good start choice for real estate. If you are able to consistently keep distance between you and the model or the kitchen has some good roomy space, the background compression in 56 will work amazing for you. Go for something wider than 56 (30 in my case but you can also look somewhere around 24) only if you feel big spaces are not a luxury you may get. Thank you for the video. I ended up with Sigma because of size when I added my A6700 last fall. One reason I chose it is a reason I recommend to everyone is to look at the midrange and wide angle zooms as a pair and choose the pair you like best. The Sigma 10-18/2.8 is my preference at the wide end as well so I went Sigma. Since I also shoot full frame the A6700 is a backup and travel body so lower price and smaller size were key so I ruled out the Sony 16-55/2.8 G. Either way the Sigma, Sony, and Tamron are hard to beat. Also the A6700 has IBIS so that included with the Tamron was not key to me. Take care.

Focusing with either my A7CR or a6700 just blow the older models away. I hope Sony puts that AI chip in the ZV-E10 mk. 2 if such a thing is made. I also hope there is something like the A74, maybe called the A75, with the AI chip. It will then be the best camera in the world.

I own the Tammy 17-70 & love it! yeah i wish it weight less but sometimes that comes in handy for video use. but yeah no real complains with the lens. I do hate the dust that gets into it.

I'm Camp Sigma because I value the sharpness and close focus and willing to give up the longer tele end and VC. Plus, I have the beautiful Sigma 10-18 f2.8 to complement the 18-50. For someone who don't shoot ultra wide and wants a one-and-done walkaround zoom lens, the Tamron is mighty appealing.

I am so happy you made this video. I recently bought the Tamron barely used for 400 dollars and have been wondering if I made the right choice for weeks. I love the Tamron and it’s extra range but it is a bit heavy and I’m wondering what living day to day with the sigma would be like

I've had the Sigma 18-50 for months. I love it as my default walking-around everyday lens on the a6600. Have never been disappointed with it for any reason. I love how small and light it is! I'm sure I'd like that Tamron 17-70, but really have no reason to try it. Thanks for this review. BTW I also have the Tamron 18-300mm for situations when I want a longer reach than 50mm. The a6600's sensor and IBIS is good enough that those two lenses can handle almost all shooting situations for me. Although I own several other APS-C lenses. Acquiring lenses for me is like eating potato chips (crisps): it's hard to stop with just one. Or two . . . 🤣

In process of selling sigma for tamron for 3 reasons 1. stabilization 2. weather sealing 3. more range In no way is sigma bad, it is amazing but i do need the first 2 things that I mentioned since the weather here is quite dusty and my camera doesn't have ibis ( a6400 )
@dzheyd96097 ай бұрын
Stabilization on Tamron lens is disappointment only. If you need stabilization on sony with active stab, then there is no other way than sony lens

Have anyone tried A6700 with tamron 17-70 or sigma 18-50?
@dzheyd96096 ай бұрын
@@noormuhamed17 buy tamron only for more reach. For its 70 mm at the end. Its stab is jerky. If you want stab, buy sony lens, and with active stab crop it would be better than tamron stab. But even without it, sigmais a better choice

@@dzheyd9609 thanks for the information. Am Using the A6700 so there is ibis of course i find with oss more solid. But then sony lens are so expensive. Therefore wanting to explore either sigma or tamron zoom lenses. Tamron cause i heard the VC does interfere with ibis. Am researching more with sigma 18-50 doing handheld vids
@dzheyd96096 ай бұрын
@@noormuhamed17 yeah, Tamron VC is good only for static handheld shots. On dynamic shots the image jumps severely that you cannot fix it in post. So I recommend either Sigma or native Sony lens. Because sony lenses work beatifully in active mode, even the lens itself does not have any lens stabilization. You can look at the youtube channel called No limits on. He makes practical, detailed comparisons and not regular bullshit review. He has a video comparing this two lenses. Personally I was very happy with my Sigma 18-50 and a6700 combo until I switched to zve1 and have a little bit of regret because of the size of lenses. The only Sigma 18-50 problem is the a bit vignetting at long end. Otherwise I loved to carry the camera and the lens much more than when I had Tamron 17-70. I just would not want to carry that bulk
@omegatek6905Ай бұрын
I picked up the Tamron 17-70 and paired it with my Sony A6700. Tamron comes with 7 year warranty and weather sealing which the A6700 also has. Perfect combo that offers a lot of versatility

The Fuji 16-50 3.5 VII has center sharpness as good as their 16mm 1.4. Whenever I need a lens that will simply perform, weighs nothing, has stabilization, focuses way faster on the later bodies than the ones it came out with, I pick that lens. I have the X-H1 and a very low use X-M1, but when I think of selling the X-M1 for muffins and coffee money, I know a buyer will want a lens with it. But I won't sell it. It's just too USEFUL .
@longnguyenhong7 ай бұрын
Having both lenses I’d say Tamron 17-70 better for work and a bigger body like a6400-6700 and Sigma 18-50 better to pair with smaller camera like ZV-E10 for a small lightweight travel kit.

@@AmrAbdeen tough call, the two sigma primes will give you more of a wow factor with the blurry backgrounds wide open. But you’ll be changing your lenses frequently. The 18-50 is so great because you can take one lens and never take it off travelling.
