This is all up in the air as of right now and could be anything, could even be just a charcater bio for Black Doom that has spoilers in it, who knows. Hey there, Creators! I just wanted to clarify that it has been confirmed that there is no secondary playable character for Shadow Generations. It was confirmed and someone in the comments notified me shortly after I posted this video. But I didn’t really make this whole video about playable characters anyway. It was more so about the mystery of what characters could we potentially see have a major role within the story which is really more of what my channel is about anyway as I don’t really talk about gameplay mechanics too often. So the speculation of which characters we could see within the story is still on the table. It’s just the only difference now is that we know that they won’t be playable. Also, I am not a news channel. I just cover the things that interest me and I like to talk about. There are different possibilities and cool things that they could do with this story and I like to discuss what would be most likely to be the case. Thanks for watching, everyone!

I hope it's a major side-character, but my money's on it just being a Black Doom character bio. Blaze would be great but I can't see it happening. A Silver/Mephiles plot would tidy up a lot of lore. The Shadow-centric options would be Omega or Maria/Gerald timey-wimey stuff. Y'know, I don't think we've ever seen Gerald and Shadow directly interact in the games.

Just saw someone throw out an absolute curve ball: Emerl. I have no idea how they'd go about it, but Sonic Battle _does_ have some Project Shadow lore. And Emerl copying Shadow's Doom Powers would be insane.

3:55 I mean it does, Time Eater was ripping apart all of space-time to the point were it even reached Blaze in her dimension/universe. It even reached timelines that shouldn't exist like CD's bad future and Silver's bad 06 timeline.

I'm not expecting another playable character, but if there is a new playable character, Silver makes the most sense to me. He was the only character next to Shadow, Sonic, and Metal Sonic that wasn't trapped by the Time Eater. So then what was he doing during the events of Generation? In the event that this isn't a playable character, my money is on Maria, and I bet that's something they reveal during tomorrows Dark Beginnings event.

I'm just as intrigued on what the little box is, but I am very certain it is not Mephiles who created the Time Eater. Explanation: Mephiles is the other half of Solaris, and as seen in Sonic 06 Solaris ceased to exist after Elise put him (in his flame form) out, hence erasing the events of the game. Fast forward to Generations, and we see the Time Eater's backstory after Dr. Eggman's defeat in Sonic Colors (2010). It would be impossible that a nonexistent form appeared in the distant future and be able to assist a mere human.

this would be the best opportunity and moment to introduce Eclipse The Darkling into the the main canon because he deserves another chance at being a character and a threat but is unlikely Sega is reluctant about adding any characters from different continuity to the games but i still hope it happens

I think it could be dreamcast shadow, from sa2. The designs are different enough, and having two shadows, one modern one old, just really fits with sonic generations, and the whole theme, it'd be kinda weird to have modern sonic, classic sonic, shadow, and some character that's not shadow in any way. It was also speculated that dreamcast era was going to be an era in sonic generations before cancelled.

I really doubt we're getting a 4th playable character, but if we are, Silver is kinda the only one who makes sense. Something to keep in mind is that this is a smaller scale project, so I think multiple gameplay styles are off the table. The most sensible option after that then is a character who could be played in a boost format, which Silver could be. But then that raises a bunch of other questions. Should these levels be completely unique to him? Why spend dev time on Silver for a Shadow expansion? Could he work in Shadow's levels, given the Shadow specific mechanics in them? There's just a lot to take into account. My theory is that it's just gonna be an NPC like Black Doom or Maria.

I have two theories: 1. Omega. He wasn’t with everyone else in the white space and got sucked up alongside Shadow. He works with him for a little bit. Or… 2. Some weird shapeshifting- thing. Sort of like a doplerganger for multiple characters shadow has been with in the past. Like in Kingdom Valley maybe it morphs into Rouge or Silver to help him out for a bit, or idk. It’s probably just an NPC because I don’t think adding a character like that is a good idea due to the fact that Shadow is the first in line. EDIT: New idea. Emerl.

Eclips is made by Ian Flynn and Ian Flynn is writing Shadow Generations so he could put Eclips.

It’s confusing because some people are telling me Sonic Team doesn’t have the rights to use Eclipse in a game and then other people are telling me that they do have the rights which is what I believe, but I don’t know for sure. Would love it though👍

I think it’s either omega or silver. Omega was only a statue in the original game so he’s not in it at all. Shadow and silver working together would make sense as they’re both the rivals for sonic in the original so then working together would be easy to give them an actual reason to fight sonic

Thinking about it yes it could be silver. They could have us play as shadow and at some point unlock silver then like most sonic games have us beat that to unlock the true ending to the game. Btw just watched that sonic/ shadow dark generations clip that dropped 10 hours ago and how dope would it be if they gave us Emerl!! Lastly, if you watched sonic X Emerl whenever he turned bad his blue eyes would turn red. When blue he was good. In the preview his eyes are blue so is he actually on the good side and protecting them from Eggmana grandfather ? I just can’t wait man it’s been a long time coming.

It's definitely not Blaze or Rouge or anyone from Team Chaotix including Espio unless they want to do the "find the computer room" meme in which case Vector, but I find that highly unlikely. Another candidate that could make sense is Eggman but I don't think so because would it be Classic or Modern Eggman most likely Modern, but I'm not sure. It would not be Metal Sonic or Mephiles since they are villains so is Eggman so I'm thinking Omega or Silver I would agree are the two most likely. Something has me thinking how crazy would it be if it was Maria, like what if she got possessed by Doom powers and had a Venom like black alien inside of her that makes her fast and strong and can do anything that Shadow can.

Actually, something I just realized is (if it is a playable character), there's a high chance it could be Movie Shadow. I only say this because of how close the DLC could be to Sonic Movie 3. Low chance yes, but Sega does like their brand synergy lately lol

What I'm afraid of is... This is just Sonic Generations + "Episode Shadow" and if they don't show a lot is that there isn't a lot to show. Maybe is pesimistic to think that they would cash grab fans with this, but I don't know, why to make it a part of Sonic Generations so? SG is a finished game in its own, why not making a full game about shadow instead. This will be the Sonic Generations Definitive Edition experience, maybe there are cool moments, but I do not expect a lot tbh. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we are not seeing Mephiles here. Maybe there is a tease about the future of the franchise, but this is just a little expansion that when it releases, everyone will think that this should be selled as a dlc for the people who have the game in steam or other platform. Or just a port or remake of some sort. Don't get your expectations very high, that's the only thing I'm gonna say. SG is a great game, I just wish this version solves the problems I have from the PC port of the game.

I think silver, shadow and silver already worked together back in 2006. he seems to have better bond with shadow then sonic. Also black doom might teamed up with time eater, as he sends shadow to wrecked city/time warp. and silver would counter that.. If it's not silver, might be movie shadow.. though i heared people say that would be skin.

I’m thinking both Sonics had 2 different gameplay styles being the modern and classic So Shadow is the modern gameplay with his own powers It could be Blaze to match the classic games from her time in the Rush games with her flames powers to match Shadows chaos powers Blaze was involved in the time travel with Silver so they could explain the 2 different Blazes one from the Sol dimension and the one from the future The one from the future absorbed Iblis to save the world so the story could be Sol dimension Blaze is pulled into the story by a Blaze that has been completely taken over Iblis

The idea of a 'classic Shadow is really dumb because that would literally represent nothing. Classic sonic is representative of how he was during the original 90s games and the pre-3D era so that makes sense. Shadow has been the same since SA2, so "classic Shadow" would just be SA2 Shadow but that doesn't make sense because there was never any big transition form then to now (other than boost). Another way to say this is that he was always 'modern'. The only other iteration of Shadow would be Sonic Boom's 'Shadow', but we all know that guy ain't coming back.

Welp never mind, it seems that there isn’t another playable character and that the Japanese website likes to set up false hope. Although truth be told, I kind of figured that would be the case. If I were to make a shot in the dark, that extra slot is probably just meant to be Black Doom’s character bio. Although I wouldn’t know why they would still be keeping it a secret. It’s pretty obvious by now he’s the central antagonist for Shadow in the game.

I strongly hope that this currently hidden character gets revealed to be Silver. Him debuting in a game that many fans consider the original version of to be one of the worst Sonic games, is no good excuse for Sega to prevent him being playable in other mainline Sonic games for soo many years. Especially because of the fact that by now lots of people (including me) have become official fans of that cute telepathic hedgehog and really want him to be made playable again, so Sega needs to start making that happen!

Nothing was ever remotely said about playable characters yet you and a lot of people still raised your hopes through the roof despite saying "keep your expectations in check" like lmao what? It was heavily implied by the way the website is designed when you have two playable characters right next to each other and then you switch to the other equivalent of that and then there’s one missing, that is a heavy implication of another potentially playable character. And I say that because you absolutely need to keep your expectations in check. I literally started out the video saying there’s no confirmation on this. I’m not trying to pull anything.

Remember that this project is mainly focused on Shadow. Silver could still appear in the story though, but it is unlikely that he’s actually playable. But I’m sure we’ll get a playable Silver in the future.

Thats definitely not the case from what info we have, it’s shown already to have better gimmicks (chaos control and doom powers) better level design, more care to focus on his background, and the gameplay shown is already miles better than what forces had to offer.
