First off yes I'm a packers fan. I have nothing but respect for Aaron Rodgers and am thankful for all his hard work and effort that he's given the packers. Now that being said I agree that it was time to move on. He turns 40 this year and the pack has to make a decision or not to pick up loves 5th year option. We need to see what we have in Jordan Love and whether or not he is the future of the team. After all no one knows year to year whether Rodgers will still want to play so I believe in the end this was the best move the team could make.

Aaron Rodgers was also seen as the potential #1 pick in the draft and only fell as a result of the Compensation Rules in place giving pure luck to GB (Teams that had money didn't need a QB, and teams that needed a QB were low on funds.)

I love both the Packers and Rodgers. This was a win-win for both. Packers needed a rebuild and Rodgers deserves a legit shot at another ring, which he gets with the Jets. Provided he stays healthy, the Jets will be happy with this trade. As long their arrow continues pointing upward, I just don't see Rodgers not playing at least two years, and leave all those millions on the table.

If you look at the draft chart, it is equal to a 3rd round pick. So they got a 2nd, 3rd, and probably a first next year. Pretty good haul for a 40 yr old qb.

What is strange is that the Packers are entering a season for the first time in over 3 decades without Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers as the primary starter. A real changing of the guard at that franchise.

I live 30 minutes from Green Bay, we're glad this trade saga is done, but make no mistake, we love Rodgers here, and we appreciate what he did for Green Bay. We will welcome him back with open arms to retire here and put his name up in the ring at Lambeau. This is not like when Favre left, and the fans were pissed at Favre for how he handled all of that, and wanting to go to the Vikings to stick it to us etc... Packers fans STILL haven't forgiven Favre, and I'm one of them that thinks Favre burned the bridge on the way out of Green Bay.

I disagree. When Favre left the fanbase was split. Many people were really really pissed the Packers didn't welcome Favre back, some fans were ready to move on. With Aaron nobody is angry and most people are happy it's ending. I think there's a reason for that.

All this and still haven't fixed the O-line, the one constant , doesn't matter who the QB is. Jets will go nowhere if the O-line isn't fixed.

what am I missing here? They didn't get a single 1st round pick yet. They swapped the 15th pick to move up 2 spots to the 13th. And they might get a 1st round pick next year if a 40 year old Rodgers doesn't get hurt this year. I don't like their chances. He's due for one of those banged up years.

He's played through an injury when they needed to make the playoffs before. He'll play barring something actually major which honestly hurts the jets as much as the packers. A major injury at this age and he might actually have to retire
