Bret Hart carried the company through its toughest years, and was also the one who lead the way for smaller guys to be on top. But sure, I guess HBK has that well known factor as he came back in the 2000's, which is the childhood of most people here. In that regard Bret's at a disadvantage. But yeah, no. Even though Shawn Michaels does deserve a lot of credit for his work in the 90's. Arguably even equal credit to Bret. Bret Hart was just the GOAT of the New Generation era and his fingerprints were all over the Attitude era as much as Shawn's was. No Bret? No Attitude era. No Stone Cold. No Ladder matches. Probably no Rock as well, since Shawn & Triple H were apparently set on sabotaging The Rock's career, in which Bret protected him. Bret was reliable, innovative, and was as good as Shawn in a different way. He had it all. Could probably take it a step further and claim if there was no Bret Hart in the WWE at the time, the company may have gone under, and Shawn wouldn't have even had a chance to be a main eventer, as there was no way he was ready in 1992-1994 to solo carry the company on his back.

Not trying to start a debate or anything but I am curious how people like Cena this much. I was a kid in the ruthless aggression era so I grew up with him, I liked him even when he first got drafted to raw and people started to not like him, but since wwe went PG I haven t liked him much at all. I didn't really get behind his promos and the backstage politics make it hard to appreciate Cena, The Character. He was very forced and over saturated to me and dominated arguably the driest era of wrestling and Cena's dominance just reminds me they failed to make any PG era stars because of how reliant they were on Cena and buried so many potential stars to continue have cena look strong. Which just results in having barely anyone to work with besides Punk and Orton, and my god did we see cena vs orton way too many times. That's just how i feel tho, curious to hear other opinions.

This is a really decent effort, Superkick. Really like your videos so far. Glad you mention AJ Style's body of work because it is... phenomenal. Sting also needs to be in the GOAT conversation, just like the Undertaker, Sting kept himself relevant by changing and reinventing himself, and working with fresh talent. Even to this day he is being used really well in AEW, and he's performing to a standard that he shouldn't be able to reach at his age, yet does. I do think longevity counts for a lot, alongside in-ring ability, promos, influence, mainstream appeal, body of work, athleticism, acting and characterisation. So I would go: 1. Steve Austin 2. Hulk Hogan 3. Shawn Michaels 4. The Rock 5. Rik Flair 6. Bret Hart 7. John Cena 8. Undertaker 9. Sting 10. Hunter. Honourable mentions for Mick Foley, Owen Hart, AJ Styles, CM Punk, Chris Jericho. On the women's side of things the GOAT is really easy... Lita got bigger pops during the attitude era than any other Superstar, including all the men (except Austin and Rock). Lita is easily the female GOAT.

Shawn Michaels is my favorite and in my mind the greatest of all time. Over his 20 year career you could make a good argument he had the best matches in any stipulation he was in. He bled, he could do high spots, knew in ring psychology, and gave it all in the ring for Wrestling fans who loved and hated him. He may not be the best when it comes to particular topics but what he has that the others in this list lack is mastering them all around from Promos, to influence, to wrestling ability, psychology, storytelling, performances, overall match quality, even character consistency, and attire. Shawn did it all and deserves to be called the simple best/greatest in my eyes. A close second is AJ Styles

Whether high-flying or technical wrestling, fast or slow, no matter what opponent he had, the match was great because Jericho is great. He's not afraid to do anything. He does comedy spots or he lets talent pin him to help them up. His character also evolves with him and stays interesting, which a Cena didn't have. Jericho had so many awesome gimmicks that others could only dream of. *For me, there is no doubt in my mind that "Nature Boy" Ric Flair is unquestionably the ABSOLUTE GOAT. So many accolades and accomplishments that he won. The fact that he survived a plane crash and almost got struck by lightning really stands out. His promos were awesome. His gimmick was amazing by all means, and it made us jealous, wanting to be like him. Say what you want, but his stature simply made wrestling what it is today, all because of him.* Oh.. and one more thing: *WOOOOOOOOOO!!!*

The Rock is my goat for sure. He was a great talker, funny, intense, and just pure exciting. The fact he was able to be on top on both Hollywood and Wrestling is crazy.

The Rock is the goat for me, he accomplished more than any anyone in such a super short time frame. WWE/F had it's highest peak in everything from April-May of 2000, and The Rock was the one who led that charge. Edit: forgot to mention the fact that Rocky was part of the highest rated segment in WWE history. The 'This is your life" promo from 1999 with Mankind. That alone speaks volumes to his raw charisma and presence.

Austin vs McMahon was the biggest fued in the companies history , it was because of Austin they were able to win the Monday night wars , 1998 - 2001 was the absolute PEAK of the attitude era aka the Austin era , The rock couldn’t get popular unless Stone cold was absent in 2000
@StarWarsElseworlds3 жыл бұрын
@@QFilmz That's ridiculous, around late '98 when Rock was face he was getting the same pops as Austin. His heel turn set it back. When he turned face again in 1999 he was getting the same if not bigger pops than him. To say Rock couldn't get popular unless Austin was absent is simply ignorant. Are you forgetting that he got super popular and continued on when Austin was still there? From 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2002.

My personal GOAT is and always will be Bret Hart. He's the guy who got me interested in Pro Wrestling to begin with along with Jim the Anvil Neidhart in the original Hart Foundation. Seeing this guy go from Tag team to intercontinental to world champion as a kid was such an incredible thing to have seen.

Goat in wrestling business - Vince McMahon. In longevity - Undertaker . Personal favourite - John Cena.

Bret Hart is the GOAT. His match catalogue is rivalled only by that of Shawn Michaels, but lest we forget that Hart was instrumental in establishing Michaels (HBK's first solo PPV main events were against Bret).
