The Jewish claim that it's antisemitic to say the Jews wanted to kill Jesus is ABSURD. The Jewish scriptures CLEARLY say the Jews killed many of God's Prophets. Is the Tanakh antisemitic? Is it antisemitic to say that Israel rebelled against God NUMEROUS times throughout the Bible? Don't be ridiculous. The claim that Jesus and his followers are Jew-haters is a pathetic excuse to reject your own Messiah.

I like to see it this way: there were Jewish leaders at the time who wanted to get Jesus killed (Caiphas, Annas) and there where Jewish leaders who did not agree with that (Joseph of Aremathea, Nicodemus, who took care of Jesus’ burial afterwards). Among the population there were people who shouted for his execution, but others mourned for him on his way to the cross. This is especially mentioned in the Gospel of Luke. No such thing as “THE Jews” wanting to kill Jesus. But yes, a number of them was complicit in this.

The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15 that the Jews did kill Jesus Christ by handing him over to be crucified, and Jesus said in John 19:11 that "he who handed me over to you (the Jews) has the greater sin". But Cliffe is not wrong, the reason why he was crucified was to pay the fine for all of our sins, not just for the sins of the Jews or the Romans, because we could not pay the fine ourselves. Equally absurd is that people, including many, many "Christians," somehow fail to pick up on the fact that God ordained for Jesus to die at their hands for His greater purpose, despite it being clear as day to anyone with basic reading comprehension skills. The Jews aren't blameless, but Jesus wouldn't have had to die for us to begin with if we, humanity as a whole, hadn't fallen. The idea that Pilate "negotiated" with any Jewish Council about an individual is highly implausible. Jesus was ordered by the leader of his gang, his cousin John (the Baptist), to trigger anti-Roman insurrection in the south, just as John was rebelling in the north. Jesus was ratted out, and the insurrectionists executed. The rest is embellishment. The only quasi-reliable gospel is Mark, who is much more interesting for what he leaves out, rather than what he puts in. Secrecy is the recurring theme in Mark. "Don't tell anybody about me"....time and time again.He was writing after 70 A.D., after Titus had destroyed the second temple. Presumably for an audience in Rome, but perhaps Libya or Syria. There is no resurrection in Mark. That stuff, and a whole lot of other guff, was left to Matthew and the anti-Jewish Luke to confabulate. And Paul makes no sense at all. Following James, brother of Jesus, who inherited Jesus' following, and who was anti-Gentile like his brother, and who Paul hated and was jealous of, is far more profitable historically.

In John 10:18, Jesus explicitly states: "No one takes my life from me, but I lay it down of my own free will. I have the right to give it up and the right to take it back again." Key points about this statement: Voluntary Sacrifice Jesus emphasizes that His death is not forced. He chooses to lay down His life willingly. He has complete authority over His own life and death. Divine Authority Jesus states He has the "power" (Greek: "exousia" - authority/right) to: Lay down His life Take His life back again Fulfilling the Father's Command This was not an independent action, but in accordance with the Father's will. Unfortunately, while I believe these gentlemen believe, they also believe in evolution, which is in direct violation of scripture. So they shouldn't really be a great representation for this argument. Even though The Most High used the horror of that situation for a positive, people still had free will then. Matthew 27:24-26 clearly states that the J's that bore false witness against him as well as pilot and the soldiers who hung him up are responsible for his death....period. The J's themselves even said his blood will be on them and their children. How absolutely atrocious. Putting that on your own children. Yes, his sacrifice was for everyone (sinners,) but theres a difference between the person giving themselves up for sacrifice, and what lead up to that point with the Js wanting him dead, unbeknownst that out of their hatred towards their own Messiah, they were going to fulfil God's plan to save the sinners of the world. They even had Isaiah 53 to warn them, yet their hatred and wickedness still wanted blood. We won't even discuss the horror thats in the talmud and how Christians are spat on and treated like filth in israel. The symbol commonly referred to as the star of david is an ancient symbol that predated David. It's the star of remphan which we all were warned about in The New Testament. Yet everyone seems to be mystically blinded. Christians standing up and not acting as the passive goyim doing whatever the J's want them to do does not equate to "Christian antisemitism." J's using the term "antisemite" is precisely like how the left use the term "racist." Ignorantly and often. WE are all sinners. WE all need saved.

Jesus certainly Revealed that the "Greater Sin" belonged to those who delivered Him to Pontias Pilate, (John 19:11). Also, the reason why Jesus said, "No MAN takes my life, but I lay it down of myself", (John 10:18), is because it was IMPOSSIBLE for Jesus to die "physically", being SINLESS, (Proverbs 12:28), which is why Jesus needed a "special" Commandment & "power" from the Father to "lay down His life", (John 10:18). What human being has EVER needed "power" to "lay down their life" ?? We can all understand WHY someone would need "power" to "raise up their life" after death, but WHY would they need "power" to "lay down their life " ?? Because JESUS was SINLESS and it was IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO DIE "Physically". Remember, Adam would have lived FOREVER, and would have not seen "physical" death, had he Obeyed God in the Garden.

This fellow's opinion is too cute by half. Yes, he could say that we all killed Jesus through our sins, but none of us by doing so would have crucified Him. Jesus was killed under the sustained influence of Caiaphas, the Jewish high priest, under Roman law they crucified Him for sedition. All four Gospels make this clear.

THEN you really get technican and theological: No man taketh my life from me. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it up again. --Jesus. So who killed Jesus? It's a deep thought provoking comment. Remember, that PETER squarely places the blame on his Jewish peers (Acts 2:36-this same Jesus WHICH YOU HAVE CRUCIFIED hath God made both LORD and CHRIST.) Paul places the blame on all of us (sinners) and Christ says I did it willingly no man forced me, and no man could take my life from me, except I lay it down, and if I lay it down, I will take it up again.

Innacurate isn't really accurate either cliff. I get what your saying, which is a theological point, that Christ died for sinners, of which I am chief. Paul's great confession. The sanhedren tried him, and accused him of Sedition against Rome, which was a capital crime under Roman law that warranted Pilate meeting out the death penalty. A way for the Jew to absolve themselves of any guilt for his blood, while saving face. So yes, in the PERSONAL sense, I NAILED Jesus to the Cross, i nthe HISTORICAL sense, the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate had him crucified on the cross, and in the THEOLOGICAL sense, the Jews REJECTED the messiagh and had him killed according ot Jeremiah who fortells the rejection of the Christ and the estabmlishment of a NEW COVENANT. So all three are actually factual. Who killed Christ? You did, and I did, the Jew did, and Rome did. BODY, (I did it) Soul (The Jew Did) Spirit Rome did it. 3 in 1 and 1 in 3 and the one in the middle died for me. Great work

S-elf, I-sh, N-ess and me. A sinner! Yet, Christ volunteered Himself to become sin on my behalf so rhat I may become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21. Then John 3:16 says God sent Christ for that purpose! 17-18 of John 3 say this: God sent not His Son to condemn the world but that the world might ge saved through Him. He who believes is not condemned, yet he who does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Then Romans 5:8`says: God commended His love towards us in this, that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. So no one in actuality physically killed Christ. For God's word tells us Christ could have summoned 10,000 legions of Angels to stop the Crucifixion at any time. Yet.....Christ never did! Instead Christ took my sin, your sin, all sin upon Himself causing His own Father to forsake His own Son and turn His back too Him. (( My SIN caused that to take place )) Jesus then cried out..... Tetelestai !!. Translated " It is finished " Aramaic and Greek meaning " Paid in Full " For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Because Jesus came to die, it does not matter by whose hands He died. He would’ve inevitably been killed no matter what, because that is the whole reason He was here. Cliffe is saying the HOW He died is not important, it’s the WHY He died we should be talking about.

So let me understand . Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for our sins . So Christ gave up a mortal life . Which at that time in human history would average 40 or 50 years . His reward was to sit at the right hand of God to rule the universe in all of eternity . What exactly did he sacrifice? It seems to me that what he gave up , is something he would of lost eventually . For something that was granting him incredible power . Who wouldn't take that deal ?
@tarjan6810 күн бұрын
I don’t understand how anyone can interpretate the Gospel like that, that Jesus made a deal with God the Father that if he went through a painfull execution he would be rewarded with eternal glory for this. Where in the Gospel do you find this connection? Yes, the Gospels speak about ‘sitting at the right hand of the Father”, but where does it say ‘because you were willing to let yourself get executed?’ You also make it sound almost as if any random guy could make such a deal. Jesus wasn’t any random guy!
@troyzieman717710 күн бұрын
@tarjan68 thankyou for your response . These events proport to be true I assume ? I am simply looking at the events as described and as described by Christians . I am supposed to feel especially moved because a man lost his mortal life , which is experianced by every human being . Humans have been sacrificed and have self sacrificed since humans have exsisted . I am simply matching up Jesus act with the reward dispensed and conclude that Jesus got a pretty good deal for what he went through . What's a few miserable days measured against eternity ? As far as Jesus being special , not to the Roman's and Hebrews of the time he wasn't. They saw him as a false prophet . So apparently they were not convinced of his claims . You were sold a story , culturally just accept it and never really thought about .. It's a nice story , but it's a myth and it doesn't stand up to even minor scrutiny
@tarjan6810 күн бұрын
@@troyzieman7177 you assume I never really thought about this story, well, you’re wrong about that. And I’m not convinced that’s just a “ myth that cannot stand up to any scrutiny”. What scrutiny? This is a lazy way of thinking. There certainly was something special about this man from Nazareth, that’s why through all those centuries so many people have thought about his words and written books about him. You may think you are a wise guy, but to me your comment sounds rather superficial. I’ve read similar comments before, and I’m getting a bit tired of it. But to each its own, I guess.
@troyzieman717710 күн бұрын
@tarjan68 you are slanted in your view because you are indoctrinated and quite defensive . What is obvious about Jesus is that a religion came from it . There is no real evidence for it as fact . It always strikes me how offended people of faith get . Its an indicator to me that you aren't totally convinced . Anyways , From my perspective Jesus didn't actually lose anything that all of us don't lose and there was a big upside for him . It's of course a fable but it keeps people like yourself convinced ...supposedly For me it gives me a nice holiday on December 25th and Easter . So there is an upside for me that doesn't involve a supernatural belief system
