This movie didn't start anything, like early hip hop, it was a reflection of what was happening. I grew up in Brownsville during this time. Kids were being killed constantly, via drugs or violence. It was genocide and it scarred me for life. My friends and I went to see this in the movies when it came out. It's a documentary for us.
